I'm waiting to see what happens before I commit
to a new MBP to use as a portable DAW.

Hoping the addition of the in store One On One training will
get me out of this technophobia rut helping me to grasp Logic Pro.

Ha, well when I get mine on the 25th (God willing!), I'll keep you in the loop on it's performance.

ahaha thanks :D i cant waiiiitt to see it, people have been claiming that the europe and english apple websites were down for a bit yesterday? so does that mean theyre preparing now and will update the website sooner than thurs

i think the smart thing for apple would be to put a sign on their homepage saying coming february 24th exc because then people will be more likely to buy it sooner because they will know what is going on. everone doesn't go on macrumors or something

and they should update iwork alongside it

Maybe Apple got hacked. :p

Sir (I'm assuming), the entire world is on this site. I've been a Apple/Mac user since 2002 and I can safely say Apple holds their cards close to their vest and reveals very little to the public.

No need, everybody does go on MacRumors, obviously.

That explains a lot.;)

Steve's email is:sjobs@apple.com. Perhaps you should email him your suggestion!

youre welcome :) its BEAUUUUTIFUL! if that is what it looks like (minus the fact that it doesnt have an optical drive..i think) i would get that in a heartbeat!

I think it looks hideous. The current MBPs look fantastic. That disfigured wedge of crap looks more like the Air.

Looks like Apple dropped the low-end 15". No surprise they narrowed it down to 2 as it was rumored the lineup would lose one.

Also, no change in price for the 13MBP's which tells me this is a non-event. Most likely a spec refresh structured around SB.

I hope there's no design change - I don't like the wedge look in the Air. If I wanted to dice salad I'd get one though.

Is this a typo? what's w/ 2 different price point for 13 inch?

MC724LL/A-SKU# 9755395 – $1499 – 13 inch
MC700LL/A-SKU# 9755322 – $1199 – 13 inch
MC725LL/A-SKU# 1535918 – $2499 – 17 inch
MC723LL/A-SKU# 1535845 – $2199 – 15 inch
MC721LL/A-SKU# 1535836 – $1799 – 15 inch

Might happen without an event considering SJ's condition...

Perhaps.

Recall that the 17 inch Unibody was introduce by Phil "Moo-Moo" Schiller in January 2009 at MacWorld w/o Steve Jobs. However, that was at the last MacWorld, so Apple was committed to coming to it.

Apple has also done some big introductions w/o special events, such as the original MacBook and the current generation iMacs. With that said, I don't see them making a massive change to interface (e.g. LightPeak) or no disk drives in larger notebooks without a little fanfare at the Apple Campus.

What I would like to see:

-Solid State Storage soldered on to board, like the MacBook Air.

-No second hard drive at all. The $1199 Air has a 128GB SSD, so if they switch the entire line to SSD they should be able to negotiate even better deals for the storage. Maybe 256GB in the $1199 baseline, but even if it's only 128, there's too many advantages not to.

-Get rid of the optical drive. Along with the hard drive, they now have a huge amount of room to play with. They could put in a proper GPU into the 13" (No Intel graphics). Put in a better battery, and make it thinner.

-Maybe if you need an optical drive, you lose the GPU in favour of Intel graphics, and lose the better battery, but you get an optical drive. Doubt this will happen, but it's a nice idea.

-Higher screen resolutions. 1440 x 900 on the 13". 1650 x 1080 on the 15" with 1920 x 1200 BTO. And 1920 x 1200 on the 17".

Same reason for 15". Better specs.

That's the way it is with current MBP's right now.

Sure hope it doesn't look like that black one on that website. It looks like crap IMO - the current design is great. :)
