Pure assumption BUT if they release the macbook in september it's more likely that they will release the MBP at a different time. So I'll say tomorrow or the 5th of August.
So let's hope to see the Apple store "not available" tomorrow morning !

    Keep dreaming, my cross-Pond friend.

But don't keep this thread alive... it won't happen tomorrow.

I'm not getting my hopes up just for them to be dashed every Tuesday.

If it comes out, all the better, since tomorrow's my last possible date of purchase.

I'm not expecting to be able to order a different MacBook Pro than the one available today.

Of course he (I?) would have them early. Note the "Soon" by it, though.

February. Tell that to the Mac Pro (518 days last time) and Mac Mini (currently 11 months) crowd. Laptops are the quickest to be updated. Always.

whenever the mbp update may be this summer, is it more likely to be a case redesign or just a processor upgrade?

in my opinion a slight redesign (keyboard, thinner design) and processor upgrade.

It will most likely be just a processor upgrade. I would expect a redesign when they go to the quad core nehalem..

There can't be a processor upgrade. Current MBPs are already using Intel's latest and greatest. By that I mean the latest and greatest considering the thermal envelope the current MBP design can handle.

Otherwise, some prick will just come along and say .. "Ooooh, they're not using the X9000 C2Extreme" ...

    ;)

I think going to AMD would be a disaster and bad choice on Apples part.

According to rumors, it looks like Montevina will deliver the redesign. Apple may not go with quad-core even with Nehalem.
