I think going to AMD would be a disaster and bad choice on Apples part.

... unless Apple buys AMD or otherwise makes some deal that significantly lowers their costs. From the last earnings call, it appears that they are making a push for marketshare and price will be crucial in achieving that goal.

I haven't heard anything about new MBPs tomorrow, but a friend of a friend told me over the weekend that they were coming on Tues. So there are rumors out there. Guess we won't know for sure until tomorrow.

Pure assumption BUT if they release the macbook in september it's more likely that they will release the MBP at a different time. So I'll say tomorrow or the 5th of August.
So let's hope to see the Apple store "not available" tomorrow morning !

I would love it to be tommorow or 5th of August, but sadly I dont think it will . So many rumours going around about Apples note books at the moment I cant put it all together - Apples home-made-cpu with a touch trackpad tablet iphone interface, intels Montevina / Nehalem napalm CPU.... wtf! I'm unsure of all this infomation,

I just want a new Macbook Pro before September 22nd :(

Pick a camp. Bet on black. Bet on red.

The nutshell is that while we all have firm dreams of the case redesign nobody knows. Its all amounts to a piling of (mac)rumour on top of rumour to build an expressed hope and opinion. It seems there are two camps :

[1] The Bet It All-Or-Nothing on Nehalem crowd.
Most ably supported by the likes of 'Tallest Skil' and 'sammy2066' this camp believes that's its going to occur in one big epic bang with the release of the Nehalem chipset. It certainly would be an event to remember. As they point out the combination of Snow Lepoard around then as well would be everybodies Christmas' at once. I think we would all 'pitch a tent' as someone put it. Trouble is the mobile Nehalem chipset for the MB/MBP seem to be about a year away.

[2] The Its-Coming-Soon Crowd.
Supported by the likes of 'iMacmatician' they believe the stacking of rumours throughout the year all point to a case design release sometime soon (August / Sept) with the Centrino2 (Montevina chipset) refinement. I confess to being the impatient type and finding myself wishing in this camp also. I don't believe Apple will do a big-bang, but thats just my opinion.

I wish they would just announce it like they did with the Iphone. Then I could decide wether to buy now or wait a couple weeks.

I'm clearly in camp [1]. It says it right there. But I "WANT" to believe that Apple does something people in camp [2] want. ;)

So maybe I'm missing something, but if the front page rumor is true (i.e. Apple is eliminating Intel chipsets for the MB), then why wouldn't we expect them to do something similar for the MBP?

I'm just not sure we'll be seeing Montevina anything from Apple...

i still have my money on tomarrow, but i think it will definitely be out by the 5th... hopefully haha

If the Macbook pros are not getting a case redesign, then tomorrow is possible, but it appears unlikely. If they are getting a new case, it will be done at a media event. The regular MacBooks at this point seem to be definately getting a complete overhaul.
