Since the september 9th, there has been no excitng reports or rumors about apple. According Seth Weintraub over at 9to5mac, there has been a lot of buzz regarding new MB and MBPs in the recent days...anyone know what he is referring too?

I have heard somewhere that there might be quad core versions? Is this true? That would put a lot of desktops to shame.

LoL, here we go again...while I agree with you, I just find it amusing that we've all been waiting on pins & needles for this update and already the 'wait for Nehalem' watch has started. To be honest thats the machine I really want but have no desire to wait. I'll be happy w/ the next revision and will upagrade when Nehalem rev B comes out to allow for bug-fixes. The dangerous neverending cycle of waiting. I guarantee if its expected to drop next summer it won't and people will be freaking out thinking it might come as far as MW2010. Then some store will put up the wrong photo...
Mobile Nehalem looks to be a late 2009 (quad-core) and January 2010 (dual-core) release. So MWSF 2010 can actually seem early. :D

And then cue the "Waiting for Westmere" threads before mobile Westmere comes out later in 2010. And then Sandy Bridge, about half a year later…

Nope. Not until Nehalem. And no, it wouldn't, because they'll be laptop processors.
And even then I don't think we'll see quad-core in the notebooks.

Oohhh... yes! 8GB RAM in the MBP and 4GB in the MBA would be perfect.

Well, I think the ability to add 8GB to the Macbook Pro is quite reasonable.

Well, since Montevina has support for 8GB of RAM, he's not being unreasonable at all...

Sorry ,I went a little OTT .

I know ,it's just I don't think Apple will include it as an option , that's all .
Apple are known for , shall we say.... (ahem) .....not keeping 'things ' up to date .
I was more poking the fun at that tbh.

AHHHH! I am really holding out here, one of my keys is broken on my 3 year old HP Pavilion dv1000, it's soooo slow that it's terrible and I'm going to uni soon so I want a reliable laptop. I mean, I can't even unplug this one without it dieing of low battery in 10 seconds. This is terrible. HURRY UP APPLE.

I really hope that Apple release a new laptop soon as I've just put my PowerBook G4 up for sale on ebay.

I'm moving to Orlando on October 5th and hope to buy a new laptop over there, hopefully if October 14th Rumors are true. I really don't know what to go for... a MacBook or a MacBook Pro.

I feel if i go back to MacBook instead of another Pro Machine I may feel like i'm trading down.

Depends on your budget, if a new MBP is too expensive, try a refurb or even an older 2.16 or 2.33 with ATI graphics. The older units can bee purchased for $800-$1200 depending on their condition.

Best of luck in Florida!

I'm fairly sure that we'll see 8 GB BTO on the MacBook Pro. On the MacBook, however… it's a different story.

Apple's known for, shall we say… not giving the option of certain "things" on lower-end models when it's technically feasible.

Is it plausible we could see 4GB RAM standard on the MBP? Considering it's relatively cheap nowadays...

hmm , possible , but then this is Apple where dealing with , strange things happen sometimes.

Knowing Apple, it will be 2GB standard.

Of course. I think max ram configurations are always going to be a BTO option. People who won't need the additional ram, or won't know what to look for, will not consider HP's x80x90181t with 2 gb ram over the macbook pro's 4 gb. They will only see the $200 dollar difference on top of whatever else.

(so I agree) :D

This is rediculous, we are only 3 weeks away from a supposed event, and no solid intel about the new macbooks, which makes me worried it might not happen. Now they are talking about updating the iphone. Come on apple, give us what we want. Everytime my Dell overheats and I need to restart it, a part of my soul dies...

It is unusually quiet... perhaps no new MBP this year... I am surprised Apple manages to keep everything so secret. If there is indeed new MBP's coming soon, there should be more leaks...

Could happen, maybe not..

Hi,
I just started working for Apple and have really jumped into the Mac world. Long time fan of macrumors, but never posted anything. I finally have the money to afford a MBP and have been biting my nails waiting to buy the new one with my discount :D. However with the anticipation of the new line of apple products coming out we forget what the underlying motive of a company is..

Its all about money... Money, money, money. Although we all hope that Apple would just release everything at once with mass quantity, thats not gonna happen. They will do whatever makes them the most money. Keeping the hype. Release this here, that there, you get the picture. The iPhone 3g, then the new Nano and iPod touch. If we see anything in the next few weeks I would believe it would just be the new Macbook so people spend their money on it. Then later they will release the "cheaper" Pro and make even more money.

However because I would very much like to get the NEW MBP, I hope its soon. Get over the money Apple!!

Oh and as an Apple employee Ill get rid of some rumors.
Discount: 1 25%
3 15% per calendar year. (ordered online in the store)
infinite 10% in-store
Secondly, we do not get any information about ANYTHING before the public. The only thing i can imagine is maybe knowing a truck gets there at 8 am and we have to be there to set up the new gear.

Thanks
