It's all about PR.

I personally think an apple announcement would over shadow an android announcement any day. If anything apple could take away from androids thunder (if there is any)

and no that isnt fanboyism. i just havnt seen much support for android seeing as its basically an empty platform that developers have to fill in themselves, and support every different model of phone. So its great for customization, a headache for phone makers.

MBP ,£600 (UK) off , UK refurb store now !!... is this the last of the old stock ??? :D

I don't see why people don't get this yet. Anybody who works at Apple - even the Mac Geniuses - have to sign an absurdly long non-disclosure agreement. This, in combination with the fact that it's extremely hard to get a good job at Apple, suggests that NOBODY in their right mind would provide information about new products. ESPECIALLY the people who actually do have information regarding new products as, likely, they are the ones responsible for making it. Information even amongst staff at Apple is distributed on a strictly need to know basis, making it incredibly hard to find leaks from within Apple. You want to know what Apple will do next with their computers? Your best bet is to check what new components have been released, what their prices are, and if these parts are logical for Apple to place in a computer. Or wait for the parts manufacturers to leak information. The point of this ramble is strictly this: you will not find news from within Apple until the release date of said product.

Yeah, I already got that about Apple. But anyway I don't understand how they keep everyone silent. Well, the release date really can be kept in secret but I am much more curious about the new GPU and I don't understand why we don't have leaks. Yes, may be those people who work on the MBP really like their jobs and don't want to endure even a tiny risk that they're going to face if they post the info here. But Apple doesn't develop all that stuff on an isolated island. What about possible leaks from nVidia if they buy those GPUs from that company? What about the leaks from people who will deliver all those GPUs to Apple? No leaks from people who actually manufacture Apple laptops? Are they all afraid of getting fired? But it's not really possible to track a person who posts that info :\

Non-disclosure agreements from large companies with money and good lawyers keep people silent. And yes, I'd say they're likely all afraid of getting fired :)

An october refresh/redesign seems extremely likely. Hopefully sooner, but probably not.

They do need to up their game though.

The new 16" HP is nice, even has a keypad. Sony also managed to put out a 3 pound laptop with Blu-ray, so the MacBook could shed some weight too.

My younger brother got an HP a year back. It's the flimsiest plasticy pos I've ever laid my hands on. Would never buy HP.

Why do people never get the point? Of course HPs suck, but the specs are nicer and I want some competition.

hope its out soon

Hi all

I've just sold my MBP 2.4.

It was 6 months old and had the APP with 2.5 years warranty left to run.
I paid £1200 for the laptop. I managed to get £100 off apple store and paid £90 for the APP from the US. So the laptop owned me £1290

I sold it on ebay tonight for £1000. I just hope ive done the right thing. I loved that laptop but couldnt bear to thing its old model on the 14th Oct.

So come on APPLE, let it be true pleaseeeeeee

P.S
If it doesn't come out on the 14th do you think it will this year?
I might just end up buying a IMAC if it doesnt

Dont know if ive posted this in this thread yet but heres my theory:

Im not sure if anyone else has thought this up yet.

I'm hoping for a sept 30 event. Why you ask? Well for starters i do beleive that Apple will want to flaunt their new laptops in time for the xmas season, and releasing them at the end of september gives a good month for reviews and the knowledge of new products to seep into the average consumers mind. But the main reason i beleive it will be (or hope) is this would also give steve a place to follow through with his statement he made earlier: PUSH will be coming for the iphone by september. This would be apple's last chance to make that commitment come true and also provide talking points at a potential keynote. Also the new news of apple selling its 5 millionth 3G would give Steve even more to talk about. The only thing keeping this from being a solid suggestion is the lack of invitations, which would have to go out AT SOME POINT today to keep with apples one week notification of events that they seem to favor. Also the 30th is a tuesday:p

I could be grabbing at straws, but thats really all we have right now.

Thoughts/opinions?

Something needs to happen.

I would enjoy a nice refresh of the MBP to receive with my insurance money for my stolen Penryn. :(

It's the least I deserve. I hope that glass trackpad is real. Hawwwttttt (sounding).:D

Well, It didn't happen today, so still hoping for next Tuesday !

Don't bet on it. Every week we all say "next Tuesday" and nothing happens. I think it will be the 14th. Realistically, if there's no release by November then it's very likely MWSF will be a notebook event.

For an 'all new' MacBook/Pro there would be a press conference at least right? Well, that would be known about a few days in advance right?

Yes, but why exactly september 30? Mid-october would work just as well. Probably even better, as it would be more of a "novelty" going into the holiday shopping season.

But the main reason i beleive it will be (or hope) is this would also give steve a place to follow through with his statement he made earlier: PUSH will be coming for the iphone by september. But what message would Steve send out to the world talking about that? "We screwed up - but here it finally is"? Can't imagine that. If Apple does come up with some "real" push solution, I don't see them praising this like hot cakes at a Keynote or media event - cause it's just an yet unfulfilled promise from some time ago. (Unless, of course, the can come up with some new twist to it). Anyway... I'd rather hold my breath for october 14th or even one or two weeks later.

For an 'all new' MacBook/Pro there would be a press conference at least right?
Not necessarily. The MacBook was also introduced without any event. On the other hand, maybe Apple has some update for the pro apps at hand that could tie in with the MBP for kind of a "pro event".

By the way, whoever said Thursday, why? :D I would be very happy if it was Thursday but do you know something we don't?
