Good grief!! How about a little conversation here! All I said was "check this out". They are probably making a place holder for the new MBP and decided to use a description of an older model. What is NEW is the SKU number. Everybody needs to lighten up a little.

You're not the first person to say "HEY LOOK AT THIS!!!1" only to get shot down when it's a discontinued or current model.

Just trying to give a ray of hope that's all. Microcenter does not sell older MBP's. The fact that they posted a new SKU means the new ones are almost here. I know everyone here is on pins and needles waiting for the new release. I'm just surprised that I got this kind of reaction. Please....chill out.

Sorry, but Microcenter is NOT a scam. I posted this directlly off their website. This is the Microcenter in Denver, Colorado and is one of the biggest and most popular computer stores in this area.

I asked my boss if our store was a scam. We had a good laugh, and lols were dispensed at the expense of skil.

The prices for discontinued models don't drop unless they're open boxes, otherwise the price stays as is until someone who has some sense walks in and says "I'll give you XXX for it", and a manager will over ride it and get rid of the damn thing.

Well macmall has that one for 1599 with a 200 mail in rebate so I'd say that one is going to be sat on for awhile.

On the new Macbook Pro units: No more standard size DVI, they will have mini DVI output.

I highly doubt they are going to use mini-dvi and ditch dual-link dvi support for the MBP. (Dual-Link Support = 30in Cinema display Requirement)

To reduce the footprint they will most likely use HDMI.

That also involves ditching dual-link, except unlike Mini-DVI, it also kills VGA support as well. Unless they use the 29-pin Type B connector, which has two huge problems:

1. Nobody uses it for anything, so no one makes any cables for it

2. It's not significantly narrower than a DVI port

BONUS THIRD PROBLEM: You STILL don't get the VGA/DVI-I functionality back

Either the rumor is wrong, or Apple redesigned the mini-DVI port to accommodate dual-link.

is it normal that apple ships their notebooks in a 24 hours time???? that means somethin??? cuse i remember it was longer.. anyway... perhaps they wanna get rid of them?

What's the observed shipping time for a CTO model on Apple's website? If an update is close, does the shipping time increase? What is the behaviour observed from earlier updates?

And if they indeed ship new hardware, wouldn't that require new drivers? We haven't heard anything about a 10.5.6 update being close. Or perhaps they will use a special version of 10.5.5 that includes the required drivers.

That would be my bet (a redesigned port). It would be fairly easy to add pins for dual-link support and audio, for that matter. Then you could have breakout cables for both dual-link DVI-D as well as HDMI (including audio)... giving you the best of both worlds.

Of course, it could also be a displayport, and the person who saw it wasn't familiar with the look of those ports.

Doesn't make sense that Apple would pick something else than HDMI or DisplayPort.

15" 1920x1200 screens are a gimmick and useless without resolution independence.

A week before or so.

guys, would you feel disappointed if apple didn't do anything special (redesign, etc.) and only put montevina and new graphic card? Seeing as all other computer vendors have montevina for some time then I pressume that Apple wants to do something a bit special rather than just that as it wouldn't need such a long time for just a bump. What do you think?
I will personally feel a lot disappointed if Apple doesn't justify the delay by something nice.

What about you?
