This will be my first time buying a mac, and I am wondering how much apple usually discounts their out-of-date products when an upgrade is released. This new macbook sounds amazing but I'd be down for that black one too....

Id personally wait and see if taht "aggressive price points" rumor actually has legs, and then id shop around:D

Just noticed

On misco.co.uk the availability for macbook pros is showing as "Buy now - while stocks last"

That message is usually displayed on end of line products.

Probably nothing, just interesting.

Yeah, all the signals point to an Oct 14 release. Stores have dwindling stock etc. I wish it would be sooner though.

The Futureshop leak, pile of rumors and MUCH NEEDED refresh all point to October 14th being extremely likely.

I've realized most of you guys have no idea what you're talking about and have been saying the same things since 2 months ago...

But Oct. 14th seems promising this time.

Hey,

I went to freshers fayre at uni yesterday and they had an apple stand... one guy on the stand was just rubbish when i asked him whether i should buy a macbook now or wait - he just said get one now we have a 14 day money back guaruntee anyway. Then i asked a lady who was walking around handing out apple info, and I said should I wait... she said well it depends... if I want the free nano then I should get it now, but if I am not bothered by a free nano I should definately wait. She said she had heard beginning of october rumours and end of october rumours. But she said it makes sense that it will be after the free nano for students runs out ( she said they have prob just brought this deal in now to shift stock quicker) . But i just looked at the free nano deal doesnt run out until the 31st of october! i dont think i can wait that long!

what do ya reckon?

pretty sure he is because he called his university a) "a uni" and b) mentioned a freshers fair. But that's just a guess! I wish it was as bloody easy to guess when the Macbooks are actually going to come out, and what's going to happen with them.

Seriously, I need one! And refuse to pay that kind of money for outdated/defective equipment!

Most in these threads are looking for new hardware , me included ...I'm desperate ...running a G3 here !!.

As far as "defective" , not really sure what you mean , outdated tech , maybe but that will change shortly ....defective , I don't think so , maybe a few issues with a small number of machines but ....

very true..twas just the sweeping statement made by the last guy led me to believe that he meant all Macs

Oh no, I just meant to video cards. Regardless if it hasn't happened to everyone I still think the fact it is a known serious problem would be ridiculous to spend £1200 on a MBP and then have to fork out another £200 for Applecare just to protect myself. I could justify the Applecare if it was new state of the art hardware (even then I probably wouldnt get it) but the fact it isn't would make me feel like i'm paying to protect it from the inevitable.

Sorry, but Microcenter is NOT a scam. I posted this directlly off their website. This is the Microcenter in Denver, Colorado and is one of the biggest and most popular computer stores in this area.

It is funny. He edited his post to make it sound like you were the "mean" one.
You are right. That store is legit.

I edited my post because I found out that it is only a previous model and not being touted as a new one by anyone other than him. Here's what was there:

"Apple's not going down in clock speed, and there aren't any CPUs that go with Montevina that are that speed, anyway.

And with 200GB standard on the current one, they're not going down in HDD size."

Hey, don't get so defensive. I'm just posting what I saw. Can you find this model number anywhere? MA610LL/A-5. Is that a previous model number?

It'd help if you did a little research into making sure it wasn't a discontinued model being listed.
