Be warned... RapidWeaver is not automatic
MacHeist has to reach a goal before it is unlocked and a code given

The front page says that about Tales of Monkey Island, but I didn't notice anything about RapidWeaver needing to be unlocked

Oh so that's what it meant... Still, I might as well download it today.

I already own rapidweaver, and the rest of the apps are meh.

Like most of these promotions, you get one killer app (rarely sometimes 2) and a handful of so-so applications. I'll skip this iteration.

Trouble for you is you already have the killer app. I'm intrigued to try flow, clips, and ripit as well--so this bundle has a higher density of interest for me than the last couple.

may the next one knock your socks off!

What apps? I've never experienced this. Specifically with 1password.

The most recent one to bother me was Intaglio (from the MacHeist in October 2007), but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first/only. Might have been TechTool Pro too I think. Just want to make sure people realize its a possible issue.

whoa, whoa, whoa.

I got 1PW from MacHeist from that one time they were giving it out and use it everyday...but have been using 2.x as I'm assuming I can't upgrade into the 3.0+ range.

Could you?!?!?

No. You have to pay to upgrade from v2 to v3, no matter what.
I'm still holding out for a bundle with 1Password 3 and Unison 2.

First heist I'm considering because I tend to rely on freeware alternatives, but I have a few questions that I'm hoping you guys can help with. How does RipIt compare to Handbrake? Is CoverScout that much better than sites like Get Video Artwork?

Thanks!

RipIt and Handbrake are different

Handbrake is an encoder that will translate your DVD to multiple formats
RipIt will rip the DVD to your HDD and actually make it DVDPlayer ready
You can Handbrake a rip from RipIt if you need it

Actually, I prefer Mac DVD Ripper Pro over anything I have used to rip
But RipIt does a nice quick job and it is simple... no fuss

I feel the same way....except over RipIt

And... Ripit is the same cost as the bundle!

I really wanted RapidWeaver. So I picked it up. I know I have to wait. :)

MacJournal - I have no need really. I don't need an app to keep track of my stuff, that's what I use Spotlight for.
Ripit - Seems cool. I'll try it. From what people here are saying it's more like MacTheRipper where it rips the DVD to your harddrive in DVD form. I'd prefer to keep using HandBrake so I can put it into iTunes for my iPhone and stream it to my Xbox or PS3.
Clips - Looks neat, but I don't know that I need that much in my copy and paste. Cool implementation though.
Cover Scout - I hate missing album art! So I'll definitely use this. I would NEVER have paid $40 for an app that I am only going to use one time though. So I don't mind that it's bundled.
Flow - I'll have to give it a shot. I used to use Fetch + TextWrangler to do my editing but this looks nice (and now my iMac is my web server so I don't need FTP)
Monkey Island looks fun
And RapidWeaver looks like a more powerful iWeb, which is definitely welcome. :)

MacJournal - I don't do much writing that this would be worth it for me.
Ripit - I got this with a previous bundle, I still haven't used it.
Clips - Looks great, but I am now using CuteClips, it works well and it's free.
Cover Scout - All my albums already have cover art, and I now only buy from iTunes.
Flow - Looks OK. I'm used to CyberDuck for FTP; so it works good.
Monkey Island - I would like this.
RapidWeaver - Looks very nice and would like it; but it's not unlocked yet. :(

When MI and RW are unlocked I'll consider it.

Looks like I'll be skipping this one. Already have RipIt and Rapidweaver. No Need for the Journal program.

Wonder when the next MacUpdate bundle will be.

There's enough items I like so I'm going to buy it when I get back from my lunch break.

Now if I could find someone to 'gift' RipIt to I'd be all set. I already have that one. :apple:

All the programs with the exception of Rapidweaver and Monkey Island look ok, but those two programs would be the reason I want this bundle.

Will I have two copies of RipIt? Anybody?

I took part in a MacUpdate and in a MacHeist bundle. Or maybe more than one. Some of these are pretty lame and some of the Apple bundles are almost ridiculously misrepresented. I bet that not many people pay the 'full' price for certain applications.

HOWEVER...

I have a few applications from some bundles that I just love:

- Circuspony Notebook
- Parallels 4
- Acorn
- Delicious Library
- BoinxTV (not the absolutely full version, sadly)
- Espresso (web editor
- RipIt (If I'll buy this bundle, I will have two copies. I would love to swap it for something that I really want.)

I still want to see PathFinder and Pixelmator in a bundle, but for me the best bundle item would be VMware Fusion. Unless RapidWeaver becomes available, I'm not gonna buy this one.

The latest MacUpdate promo had PathFinder. That and Machinarium were the reasons I bought it.

Path Finder
Socialite
Yep
Radio Gaga
GarageSale
DragThing
Speed Download
HealthNut
PCalc
Machinarium
iRip
Holiday DVD Menu Template Super Bundle
Flagit!
PowerTunes

Just looking at the MacHeist site and I think their math is off. They say 25% of your purchase goes to charity. The Nano Bundle 2 is going for $19.95, meaning $5 will go to charity. As I write this, the site says they sold 22,157 copies. At $5 per copy, they should have given $110,775. However, on the site, they say they raised $109,276. WHere's the extra $1,000+?

RipIt now has a beta for compression to an mp4 file with their latest update. So now it can rip the entire DVD to your hard drive or you can rip just the main movie into an mp4 file. Just a couple clicks of a button, I didn't see anyway to change the settings for the mp4 output, however I didn't go into preferences since the program is really supposed to be easy to use and I didn't have time.

I did this this morning before I left for work. I will see the results when I get home.
