Yeah.. I was one of the first ones to complain about the pricing.... and I just ordered one.
I can barely afford it but I pray to God this is the keyboard I need for my iPad.

Wow the demand for these is red hot - also supply is likely quite constrained - but nonetheless dates have already slipped ~20 minutes in to sales. Going to keep checking back, it's likely we will see Mid-May here soon.

Hard to say, but my guess is it is more related to shipping availability. I wonder if Apple brought a container of them over to the US, or whether they’re going to ship them via airfreight right from the factory? They’re expensive enough to justify airing them over, plus they package is flat and compact, so easy to ship.
I have the smart keyboard, so on the phone with apple trying to do a return. its only a little over the return policy so hopefully they are ok with it. guess we shall see

Yeah, I tossed one on my cart, almost purchased, then figured, since my intent to use this (with my iPP 12.9) as a "travel solution" is kind of backburnered (you know, because ...), I'd just wait.
As far as I know, Apple is extending the return policy during this time - 14 days AFTER the stores re-open. So one way or another, I do think you will be in the clear for returning that case (if it's in perfect condition etc.)
Same here. And will likely wait for Apple Stores to reopen to try out.
Though I guess one can order online and then return it to a store later (within 14 days of reopening) if it doesn't meet expectations
yea phone hold was long, but they are fine with the return and they are working on processing to ship back. so that works out
bought the new ipad afew weeks ago but i'm going to wait until the reviews my current setup is with an ipad holder wireless mouse and keyboard and i doubt i'll need it for afew weeks/months

I don’t wait for reviews. I prefer to test it myself and if it doesn’t work as I expect it too, I will just return it.
Don’t forget your education discount if you qualify for one.

Given that these are for the iPad Pro, which is already an $800 product, I'm not surprised. They also released the iPhone SE and sell a $329 iPad for those on tighter budgets.
Just ordered 12.9 inch 1TB iPad Pro this morning. Then this became available! Great! Ordered with an education discount. My iPad Pro arrives 21-23 and keyboard 23-May 1.
