I‘m in. But for this price it needs to be perfect or else it‘s going back.
If the MacBook Air is any indication, the keyboard should be an improvement over the current iPad Smart Keyboard. And Apple is known for trackpads. We'll find out next week. Since I've been using 12" MacBooks, it has taken me a little time to get used to the additional force to type on the MacBook Air. It isn't significantly more, but I guess I had gotten used to the butterfly keyboard (even though my work PC has even more key travel).

Woke up this morning to see my stimulus check in the bank, then this finally pops up. Ordered for my 12.9. Ordered 15 mins ago and have deliver Apr23-30 (I’m guessing 30th). Right in time for my bday in early May!

And as others have said, if I find it’s really not worth it, I’ll just return it.

As much as I like the apple ecosystem at some point soon I will be balancing the ability to feed my family with the cost of even the most basic apple item.....I think £349 for a keyboard is just a new level of madness, as work pushes me further towards Microsoft and windows, apple does not help itself with its exorbitant prices.

Pretty frustrating that delivery times slipped well within the first hour of availability. Maybe if I didn’t read so many articles about Cook’s supply-chain wizardry it wouldn’t chafe as much. Yes, I know a lot of things are more constrained right now, but this is hardly an isolated situation.

Griping aside, my 12.9” model should still be here by May 1, which was the best-case scenario we were aware of before today, so I guess I can’t complain too bitterly.

This is for Apple's highest end iPad Pro models. They sell the base iPad for less than the keyboard for the Pro, and there are budget keyboard options, as well.

I'm sure he's handed supply chain management off to the COO, but in the current times, the fact that this is shipping ahead of Apple's original estimates is a sign they are still good at it.

the fact that China was shutdown for 8+ weeks in the grip of the largest pandemic the world has seen in over a century surely had nothing to do with a delay in shipping of (checks notes...) 9 days. ;-)

I ordered the 11 inch keyboard and am excited for it. I do wonder if the inability for the keyboard to fold back on itself like the Smart Keyboard Folio (which I have now) is going to be a PIA as I travel extensively weekly with my iPad. With this new keyboard I'll have to detach the iPad from the keyboard (and then put the keyboard somewhere) when wanting to read in portrait mode on a plane etc. Still with the iPad Pro being my ONLY travel device (I use iMacs and iPads, no laptops) its worth it for me to try out, as I really would like a better keyboard and integrated trackpad.

You can’t complain at all. The prior announcement was that *sales*, not *deliveries* would begin “in May.” Actually receiving your product on the day that they previously announced would be the on-sale date actually shows that, yes, Cook is a supply-chain wizard.

Awesome. Was a little late on the trigger because I had to go out to my phone for my Apple Store Gift card info but I got my order in. $279 after education discount and a $50 gift card. Delivers April 24 - May 1. Can't wait!

Question for everyone buying the magical keyboard. Are you buying the portfolio case as well?

I bought this portfolio case from Amazon due to the cost of the magic keyboard. It is substantially better than the version they released for the 2018 iPad Pro. I returned the 2018 version and just went with the Apple OEM version.

This time around they improved the magnets and materials. It will be a perfect alternative to my magic keyboard which I ordered today. I have been using it for a couple weeks now with no complaints.

Off topic a little, but I'm very eager for the "inverted T" arrow keys to come to the regular version of the Magic Keyboard. It's a solid little keyboard but Jony really hosed the usability of the arrow keys with his precious symmetry.

I’ll just use my old portfolio keyboard when I drag my ipad out to lunch at Chipotle every day (when the crisis is over, of course). It’s beat to hell, but that’s part of its job.

Too expensive, and i'm sure it will work like crap just like the old one

mine just died ... it doesn’t let me type anymore like the on screen keyboard stays at all times. I am never gonna buy original Apple Accessoires ever again.

Apple Watch leather band: fell apart in the humidity of Miami

Apple iPhone Xs Max case: color chipped off

Apple iPhone Xs Max leather case: volume buttons are broken (pushed half way in)

iPad Air 2 Smart Cover: Magnet fell off from the fabric. I guess the glue got weakened

iPad Pro Smart Keyboard: doesn’t type anymore

Something i dont get is if there're 2 variants, one for the recently released ipads and last years' ipads. Or if the square cutout works for last years' ipads?

If it turns out to be fine I will sell my keyboard folio I guess and at least recover some of the cost. Order placed.
