I hope I find it that simple in practice, I have my doubts with cramped areas like aircraft seats. I usually have the big window seat in the very front of the aircraft but with all the adjusted schedules find myself sitting in back to position for other flights frequently and I typically use my iPad Pro in portrait for reading back there. That said its too nice looking to pass up so we shall see how it goes...

I think the thing you’ll like best about the new Magic Keyboard, is the integrated trackpad, especially if you’re not currently using one. That’s been the thing that made my iPP 12.9 my daily driver. It was near impossible, especially on a plane, to work on spreadsheets using your fingers to try to select cells - at least for me it was. Now it works just like a traditional laptop, while still being so easy to transition to a tablet and touch interface. Having better key travel and backlighting will be nice too.

Report back once you get yours - I’m curious to know how it performs, before pulling the pin and getting one, which I’ll likely do regardless (unless it’s total crap). And as you said, it does look really nice, which is another benefit.

Does anyone know if the power output on this case would be enough to power the Apogee ONE for iPad/Mac?

It’d be nice to get away from batteries
There is no power output on the case. The USB-C is just a charging port.

10% military discount for $314. Still too expensive, but Trump just sent me a check, so I can flex a little bit..

I am very interested in this but want to see the review videos first. It seems like a stand just for desk and to carry but will not fold flat for non-keyboard use. It’s very expansive to only use at my desk.

This is the deal breaker for me. If I have to take the case off for example to browse in bed or on a plane then it is really more of a dock only thing

Can’t wait.

Apple needs to focus on amazing iPad OS and apps now. Hardware is good enough.

There’s a comment on reddit that an Apple representative said that the keyboard can be folded back like the current Smart Keyboard.
Really hope this is true.

There is no way it will fold back on itself. Just not physically possible with the main hinge the way it was designed. Reddit “Apple representative” could be a store worker who knows nothing more than you or me, possibly less at this point, so I would not give it any credence. Not to mention, there is really no need to fold it back on itself. Just grab the iPad off the case and use it however you like.

As far as I know, Apple is extending the return policy during this time - 14 days AFTER the stores re-open. So one way or another, I do think you will be in the clear for returning that case (if it's in perfect condition etc.)

That works for me. If the trackpad doesn’t make me smile....then back it goes.

Based on the side view, it sure looks like it folds in on itself to me. Otherwise, why have a round hinge?

Looks REALLY neat, but WAY overpriced.

I believe this should be priced around $199, which would still make it "Apple Premium" since more expensive than the Logitech counterpart.

Wow they’ve upped the price after announcement in AUS. Like $469 wasn’t too expensive anyway. $499 for a keyboard? $589 for the 12.9.. LOL

Fold in is not the issue, its folding back so you can make the iPad flat with the case still on. It does not appear that it will do more than a Macbook for bending.

I wouldn't expect it to work any differently than an iPad with keyboard and trackpad already does - for me the keyboar works but mouse input isn't sent to the Mac (only the Pencil does this). Maybe something that will be fixed. Or you could use one of the third party apps that already do have this functionality...
Yeah, I might, I just like how fast the native solution is. I just wondered since sometimes Apple makes little changes like this when they release a new solution. They like to tighten up little inconsistencies over time, but then other times they'll leave huge inconsistencies hanging out there for years.

Don’t see how that would work, given the way the material goes around the outside of the hinge, but I would be happy to be proven wrong.

For me the biggest issue will be lapability. I want to use the iPad on my lap and type with the keyboard. If this is not possible, or not as good as with my MacBook Pro, then the keyboard will go back to Apple. I will still be happy to use my iPad without a keyboard.

my 2018 Smart Keyboard works on my lap, so I’m sure this will be better as it’s likely more rigid, has more palm space, etc. It’s nice it’s not anything like a kickstand—have liked surface pros, but man those sucked on the lap.
