New Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro Now Available to Order, Deliveries Begin Next Week

It’s all the same just works with different cut outs.

At first I thought it might look weird to have the smaller camera bump in the larger (new) square bump case...but after watching YouTube videos that show that off, it’s not bad at all!

Order in... A painful $381.28 with tax...

Gotta love the collab between Apple and the US government, or the “Apple Stimulus Fund” as I call it..,”YOU GET AN IPAD, YOU GET AN IPAD...WE ALL GET AN IPAD”

Joking of course, it’s a tough time financially for many people right now, myself included. I’m just lucky to have saved up for these purchases ahead of time.

I was surprised Apple stuck to their pricing considering the current economic climate.. but seeing that people can apparently forego their financial responsibilities and order regardless confirmed that it never mattered to begin with lol.

Who in the world would “forego” their financial responsibilities and order regardless? It’s foregoing wasting past income that allows many to buy now.

Me as well, I’m pretty frugal with my money. The purchase wasn’t a problem as much as wrapping my brain around a keyboard costing that much. I get though, it’s a backlit keyboard, a case and an extra USB-C port. I’m not saying I like taxes but somebodies got to pay them... 😄

Question for everyone buying the magical keyboard. Are you buying the portfolio case as well?
With the Magic Keyboard in mind, i just ordered the folio case to protect it until the keyboard will be released. I never thought, it comes that fast.

I am very interested in this but want to see the review videos first. It seems like a stand just for desk and to carry but will not fold flat for non-keyboard use. It’s very expansive to only use at my desk.

mine just died ... it doesn’t let me type anymore like the on screen keyboard stays at all times.

I had the same issue with the original keyboard for my 2nd Gen Pro. Apple exchanged it for free and the second one worked well for years. I sold it, as the 4th Gen iPad was delivered.

Ordered for my 2018 iPad Pro a little while ago. Delivers Apr 24-May 1. I’m on the East Coast, so I wonder whether the slightly longer delivery time might reflect transit time from the West Coast. I know lots of other deliveries are taking longer than usual, particularly when shipped from across the country. Matters not, really. I’m just super hyped to get one of these in my grubby little mitts. Anticipation....

Got my order in for the big model. Looking forward to seeing how well it works on laps.

Me too. But before I order, I will wait to read your review. :) I don't think anyone's done a review except for Federighi, and while I love the dude, I want to read a little less biased review first.

Apple Watch leather band: fell apart in the humidity of Miami

Apple iPhone Xs Max case: color chipped off

Apple iPhone Xs Max leather case: volume buttons are broken (pushed half way in)

iPad Air 2 Smart Cover: Magnet fell off from the fabric. I guess the glue got weakened

iPad Pro Smart Keyboard: doesn’t type anymore

Sounds like you're really hard on stuff.

That's if you'd rather have a bulky "foldy" thing in your hands when you're not using the keys vs. just removing the iPad from the case. I think that's one of the best features of this, that the iPad can be so easily removed and replaced.

I’m surprised that MKBHD hasn’t got his hands on a review unit yet.

I have several questions regarding the trackpad, like, if it’s force touch or if the USB-C charging port can bypass the full charging capacity.

I have the same delivery window as you and I’m in Texas. I think maybe some shipping dates may have slipped as I didn’t order until about an hour after you could.

Don’t forget your education discount if you qualify for one.

Also don't forget your Veteran's discount if you're eligible for one. I used mine and saved 10%.

I might do the same thing. It is down to the magic keyboard or the one from Brydge

The Brydge model gets terrible reviews. The consensus being that the trackpad is virtually useless.

I won’t be buying any new Apple stuff this year, most likely - unless the iPhone is seismically different - and I’m doing a lot of emailing and writing from the sofa after hours right now (balancing homeschooling with client work and a mouldering writing intention), so this keyboard is a bit of a treat for me and my 2018 12.9in.

And frankly, I’m in the mood to treat myself this week.

EDIT - but it is LUDICROUSLY priced, I agree. I’ve just cancelled my order and will wait to see what the reviews are like; and will just carry my MBP around instead for a week or so.

This is what I’m worried about, I don’t really see how this would work on a lap at all, I feel like it would be very top-heavy. I’m waiting for the new MacBooks to be released.

Hopefully we get some reviews ASAP. Preordered anyway, and will cancel/return if not satisfied. I wonder if these things will sell out fast. Hopefully we can see some more competitive 3rd party options too soon.

I have the current 11" keyboard folio and it works just fine on a lap. The pics make me wonder about how it will distribute weight. Has anyone seen this new magic keyboard on a person's lap, or any mentions of it?

he may well have... they likely would embargo reviews until the launch date (next week) or slightly earlier... like the end of the week. they will stagger the embargo with reviews of the iPhones SE though.

yes and no... you still have to have a separate place to keep the keyboard is the only issue. for example a use case I experience nearly weekly... I am sitting in the back of a plane and want to read in portrait... right now I just fold back my Smart Keyboard Folio and read away but with the new Magic Keyboard I'll need to detach the iPad, store the keyboard somewhere and then read with the iPad "naked" if I suddenly need to set it down etc. I ordered a Magic Keyboard but I'm wondering if I will travel with it or just leave it home to use a "desktop/home" setup for my iPad Pro.
