Lately they’re not as obsessed with style. See the mbp for instance. They’re thicker, got the useful ports back and dropped the awful butterfly keyboard mechanism.
So their mouse is their last crap "style" pointing device.

Sold my AA-battery Magic Mouse, because it‘s not ergonomic and bad for (any) gaming. It was okay, because i could replace batteries anytime with fresh loaded eneloops and continue work.
The current version with the charging cable on the bottom of the device is a complete fail.

Hoping for a complete redesign.

The AA version kind of sucked because it was so heavy, though. And mine all developed problems after a few years of use with the connection to the AA batteries becoming sketchy, resulting in random disconnects. And the Bluetooth in it is an older version that takes longer to connect, etc.

While I agree that they all suck for gaming, the Lightning version is way better overall. The much lighter weight gives it a better feel and ergonomics, and it's much more reliable over the long term.

The port being on the bottom never bothered me. I just plugged it in over night when I wasn't using it anyway. It would be fully charged next morning and I could go weeks before needing to charge it again. I do get a kick out of seeing people complain about it. I hope they leave the port on the bottom for that reason alone. ;)

Currently, I use the MX Master Vertical for ergonomic reasons. Plus it can pair with up to 3 devices and easily switch between them.
Right, so if there was a choice between having the port on the bottom as is, or having the port on the front without any major sacrifices and being able to use your mouse while it is charging when needed, you would choose the MM with the port on the bottom. Got it. That was all I needed to know. Thanks! 🙂 Let's be honest here, the MM isn't a great mouse anyway. Even if the design had to change slightly to accommodate a charging port on the front, this would only stand to improve the design. Let me ask you this...would you want a charging port on the back (in the middle) of your cell phone and you couldn't use your cell phone while it was charging? Nope, no you wouldn't. No one wants a charging port in an awkward, stupid location where the device cannot be used while it is charging on any device, regardless of its use.

A good 3rd party redesign has already been made:

Apple should just adopt it.

The current mouse is perfect the way it is.

There are plenty of corded mice people could get, but I guess it's easier (and feels good) to complain about Apple's rather than solve *their* problem and purchase a corded one.
Third-party wired mice don't work well with macOS. The scrolling is awful. Unfortunately, good scrolling experience can be provided only by Apple's native peripherals.

Ah, ok... So Apple does make the best mouse. That's been my view all along.

Why would I care how it charges, as long as it does so quickly? Which it certainly does.

Is kind of the opposite with Microsoft, people claim that Microsoft copied Mac OS, and apple were innovating, but if we talk about just the mouse, then Microsoft is a gazillion more innovating than apple, fist led tracking mouse, fist to use scroll, then back and forward buttons, Microsoft mice introduced ergonomics in mice, apple mice are probably the less innovating hardware they sell.
Apple didn’t invent the mouse either. The idea actually came from a Xerox multi user word processing system that had a GUI and used a 3 button mouse.

Exactly, that's why I hate my Sony neck speaker, the device has a good position for the USB connector charger, but you cannot use it while charging.

From start, they been "destroying" the concept of the mouse, original Xerox had 3 buttons, first apple mouse 1 button.

That's what I'm saying, the worst "innovation" that apple creates if by far their mice.

How about a good design mouse with a charging point that can charge the mouse while in use.

Personally the Magic Mouse shape and other issue means not worth getting. There are better and cheaper mice out there. Only reason I own one is my former employer bought them for everyone and after I was laid off I forgot to return it.

I also have yet to meet anyone who thinks the Apple MM are good and worth the money unless they were a die hard Apple fan boy and even most Apple fanboys I know think the MM is ****.
Same with the Apple keyboard. My daughter loves it so she can work like daddy.

Not my experience. I highly recommend either the Logitech M500S or the Logitech G502 Hero wired mice.

You don't have to babysit it, you will get a notification when you are running low, and then you will have many hours before it runs out. Surly you can find time to charge it. Over lunch, when you take a dump, over night.

Time Management.

Ergonomically I won't argue, people like what they like. That's just fine.
It works well for MY needs.
Mine never does this. All it says is Battery is Too Low. That's it. And it usually happens right in the middle of something.

Xerox's mouse had 3 buttons, just like modern mice do:

1) Left (primary) button
2) Right (secondary) button
3) Middle (scroll-wheel) button

Initially, Apple decided to have only one button, but after some time, it became evident that it wasn't sufficient, so they sort of added the second one:

So, Apple's concept of a mouse with a single button wasn't correct from the start.

That's your subjective opinion. The objective truth is that all generic mice have inferior scrolling capabilities compared to Apple's native Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad.

PS: I've had three Logitech mice: M315, MX3, and G603, and none of them had scrolling that was even close to being as good and smooth as that of the Magic Mouse or Trackpad.

They'd better come up with something like this.
No. I don’t understand why these companies that make mice like these can’t design them for left handed people as well. I’m left handed and can’t use them. I did try a Logitech mouse like this and didn’t like it cause I’m not right handed. I figured I’d try to use my right hand for a change, but it was awkward to use. And on the spec page they make a note: “Right handed use.”

Yes mine is a subjective opinion but your “objective truth” is really just another subjective opinion. All of these mouse discussions (except for the satirical ones) are subjective opinions.
