I've read the first few pages here and the last few. Really couldn't go through all of them.

One thing I noticed from the pages I read is no one's mentioned the atrocious Magic Trackpad.

I bought one (thankfully used and at a good price) to use with my MBP. I wish I hadn't!

It feels slow to use. The texture of the surface feel odd. As with the MM, it's ergonomically terrible. And even though the charging port is where a port should be, it takes an eternity to fully charge.

I constantly use it in the lost hope I'll get used to it, but after a few minutes I find myself subconsciously movubg to the MBP trackpad.

I still have my Magic Trackpad from 2009/2010(??) and that feels much better to use than the current one. The only down side with that one is the need to charge batteries every couple of days.

I actually have the opposite complaints. Mine is laggy because Bluetooth sucks. M1 Mac Mini, discontinued Space Grey Trackpad. Feels close enough to my MacBook trackpad (which I too prefer) but it’s laggy as ****. And it’s like a meter from the computer with nothing in between, if even that. Charges fine and holds a charge, I don’t even mind that it’s Lightning, just wish it would use Lightning instead of Bluetooth.

Charging for a couple of minutes will give you hours of use, not being able to take a few min break and charge your mouse is just bad time management. Let the charging port be where it is and add wireless charging if you wanna do something new.
Tim would rather you buy an extra mouse! Swap back and forth while charging!

I might be old fashioned or old school but I still prefer a wired mouse (and not just for charging). And it keeps getting more difficult to find ergonomic wired mouse, there are still a few but they are becoming a rare breed

Me...! 🤣

I can never get productive with a trackpad, and I love my MM, no matter how odd the charging port is... If only Apple did not price-discriminate the blacks over the whites...
I hate using mice. MacBook touchpads are perfect.

A redesigned mouse could be launched along with the bigger iMac coming later on. For now, Apple could simply replace Lightning port with USB C

You shouldn't be using apple products if you don't understand the design behind it. Apple has done its research and making the port at the bottom allows people to be more productive in the grand scheme of things.
Yeah, apple is always right.

They were right when they removed the sd card slot, but also when they reintroduced it, I guess.

Putting the port at the bottom sounds like an aesthetic choice by Sir Jony Ive, for whom usability always came second to design.

Just to name three glorious carefully designed items, think about the iPhone 4 antenna, the butterfly keyboard and the trashcan mp. I guess only a few geniuses understood those.

With the current design of the MagicMouse, I don't see how the charging port could be changed to be on the front, as with the Logitech mice. It would be good if the MM could like the Trackpad and the Keyboard be charged while used, but the only good position for the cable would be at the front and this is where the touch area and click mechanism use all the space available (and need it). I only see this change with a radical redesign of the mouse.

A device this expensive should have wired and wireless charging!
At least a way to buy an addon to do wireless charging as logitech and razer do with their mice.

At the moment it’s the most unappealing, uncomfortable mouse I’ve ever tried.
Agreed, but people here will thumb down you because is an apple mouse.

Especially bad when the Magic Trackpad is the best trackpads on the market.

Actually Magic Trackpad is pretty much the only trackpad in the market.

I hope they leave it at the bottom just because this is the most asinine criticism of Apple out there and people are obsessed with it.

The Magic Mouse sucks, no question, but only because it’s way too flat. The charging port that gets used once a month, max, has literally nothing to do with it.

Pretty much all apple mouse suck, the first ones only had one button.

Is kind of the opposite with Microsoft, people claim that Microsoft copied Mac OS, and apple were innovating, but if we talk about just the mouse, then Microsoft is a gazillion more innovating than apple, fist led tracking mouse, fist to use scroll, then back and forward buttons, Microsoft mice introduced ergonomics in mice, apple mice are probably the less innovating hardware they sell.

Its also not ergonomic. And yes, the MX Master 3 is the best mouse on the market right now. Its not fully vertical but its not flat so its inbetween. Enough to make a difference as your Radius and Ulna bones are not crossed (like with conventional mouse).
Apple mouse is a joke and insult to ergonomics. But we already know that Apple doesn't care about ergonomics

Agreed, apple focuses on style, unfortunately all "style" mouse look cool but suck as pointing device, example Starck.

They better not change the hilarious location of the charging port… that is the only “good“ thing about that mouse 😂

Lately they’re not as obsessed with style. See the mbp for instance. They’re thicker, got the useful ports back and dropped the awful butterfly keyboard mechanism.

It should be possible to use the Apple Magic Mouse while charging. And best of all, Apple should release also wired Magic Mouse 2 and wired Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad. Batteries are destroying planet Earth.

The SD Card was not as popular when they removed it. It made a comeback and they put it back in there because it goes along with the "it just works" mantra. Classic Apple, something you probably wouldn't know about.

Aesthetics is one thing but the mouse port works along with their idea of what work should be where you shouldn't be working when even your machines are dead. It's just so intuitive but I guess not obvious to some.

The iPhone 4 antennae is an innovation. Check out how many phones are doing that now. You have Steve jobs to thank for creating something so clever.

The butterfly keyboard was a fail from the start. Why? Because they recanted it. Apple has always upheld their integrity like that.

If you're referring to the Mac pro as the trashcan, you're undermining the innovation and beauty expressed in design. You're probably not the crowd apple is trying to please.

Yup, this is the one I use too and I now use an MX Keyboard. I can easily switch both the keyboard and the mouse between my Mac and my Windows machine. Plus, I wouldn’t ever want to use a mouse that doesn’t have Infinite Scroll.
I got used to infinite scroll too, that's why my list of mice is very reduced, just logitech and razer.

Very similar experience...

I still use my replacable battery Magic Mouse - it is actually the best mouse I have ever used. My only complaint with it is something every single mouse also presents as a use issue for me (some worse than others).

I switch hands frequently - like 10 times an hour + frequently. I can't use anything that is designed for only left or right hand. I wish I could pair two MM, but have each one set up specifically for the hand I use it with. As it is, I leave the MM set for one hand (I change the settings every so often when I switch my mouse hand), but for the rest of the time, I have two Magic Trackpads, one for each hand, as well as a pen tablet.

My trackpads are also the older removable battery variety - in that famous Apple-talk 'they just work', as does the MM (hand swapping aside).

I do use two mice as well (3 actually, one for gaming), so my left mouse is razer viper ultimate, so I have set it for left handed, my right handed work mouse is the logitech mx 3s, so I have two mice and I switch between them all they and I don't have to change anything on the operating system, they are ready to use both at the same time.

So basically apple is right if they do something, then do the opposite.

Sorry, you can’t have it both ways.

I think its using Bluetooth version 3. not even 4. Mine cuts out a few times a day just randomly and then reconnects after about 4 seconds. it has done this for years across any apple device i use. its very annoying, I do hope they finally put in bluetooth 5 at least....

I am one of the few here that likes this mouse though otherwise. why? the multi-touch for easily scrolling up and down or left and right. anything with a wheel has always worn out over time. the scrolling works so smoothly and perfectly, and nothing else on the market can scroll left to right which i do in my work software constantly

if anyone knows a mouse that can scroll side to side as well as this please let me know and i will try it, but i have not found anything.
Logitech MX Master.
