The touch based scrolling (especially left/right scroll) is way better than mice with clunky scroll wheels in my experience.Unfortunately there is no hope. Apple mice have always been bad and nobody has ever tried to change that.

Honestly, I hope they do just so I can log on here and see everyone gnashing their teeth and predicting that Apple's stock price will crater. And they’ll stick it in the exact same place just to **** with us

There's Mac Mouse Fix app that adds inertia scrolling with precision and fast modes to any mouse with scrollwheel. The touch based scrolling (especially left/right scroll) is way better than mice with clunky scroll wheels in my experience.
Hate it. Good thing it only needs charging once a monthAnd it will still plug into the bottom of the mouse, which we all know is trash. Alright Apple defenders, let's here how much you like the charging port on the bottom of the MM! It's iconic!! 🤣
I think in general their marketing has become quite ordinary. IMHO, it's probably just how the company is run under Cook - focus less on vision and innovation, and more about hard specs and efficiency.Has Apple changed marketing companies recently? Their iPhone 15 marketing campaign and this Scary Fast campaign are a bit ordinary.
Random prediction. Apple discontinues the black mouse, trackpad and keyboard and goes back to only shipping the white versions as standalone and color matched ones with the iMac.
nahthat charging port location is dumb.
Sold my AA-battery Magic Mouse, because it‘s not ergonomic and bad for (any) gaming. It was okay, because i could replace batteries anytime with fresh loaded eneloops and continue work.
The current version with the charging cable on the bottom of the device is a complete fail.
Hoping for a complete redesign.
That’s what annoys me most about the Magic Mouse. It was designed to have AA batteries and when they decided to update it to a rechargeable solid state battery they just swapped out the battery holder and added a port. It’s just lazy and had they design a mouse with a port in mind clearly wouldn’t have ended up with the solution they have.
Hopefully we finally see this rectified with a new design for this mouse.
The port being on the bottom never bothered me. I just plugged it in over night when I wasn't using it anyway. It would be fully charged next morning and I could go weeks before needing to charge it again. I do get a kick out of seeing people complain about it. I hope they leave the port on the bottom for that reason alone. And it will still plug into the bottom of the mouse, which we all know is trash. ...with a cable stuck up it's...Scary how dead the mouse looks when it’s on its back, feet up, tail stuck in rigor-mortis.
I think its using Bluetooth version 3. not even 4. Mine cuts out a few times a day just randomly and then reconnects after about 4 seconds. it has done this for years across any apple device i use. its very annoying, I do hope they finally put in bluetooth 5 at least....This is the real reason it should be updated. It's a travesty that the Magic Mouse is still using Bluetooth 4.2 in 2023.
The iPad will even warn you about it if you pair it with the Magic Mouse.

Apple will likely announce new versions of its Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad for the Mac at its "Scary Fast" event on Monday, October 30, according to a report today from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The updated accessories are expected to be equipped with USB-C ports instead of Lightning ports for charging.

The accessories will likely be unveiled alongside an updated 24-inch iMac with an M3 chip, which Gurman also expects to be announced at the event.
It's unclear if the accessories will have any design changes beyond the switch to USB-C. They look largely the same as they did when they received their last major update in October 2015, although there have been some minor revisions over the years, including a switch to braided cables, and new color options that are only available with the 24-inch iMac. Apple also released a Magic Keyboard with a Touch ID button in 2021.
While the Magic Mouse lasts around a month or longer between charges, the position of the Lightning port on the bottom of the mouse has been a meme in the Apple community for many years, as it prevents the mouse from being used while charging. It's unclear if the USB-C port on the new version will be placed in a more convenient location.
All four iPhone 15 models are equipped with USB-C ports instead of Lightning. The latest Siri Remote for the Apple TV also has a USB-C port, and Apple discontinued the MagSafe Battery Pack and MagSafe Duo Charger with Lightning ports.
Apple's event on October 30 begins at the unusual time of 5 p.m. Pacific/8 p.m. Eastern, so make sure to mark your calendar correctly.

It is odd, the company that made the mouse mainstream, has made the mouse worse with each generation. The 1984 mouse was the best they ever made, and it sucked. Yet it has been downhill from there.Almost everyone I know who uses an iMac for professional purposes does not use a Magic Mouse. They use a third party mouse and often a third party keyboard. But if you use a third party mouse you miss out on the gestures, which is the mouse's best feature. I just can't believe they can't come up with a more ergonomic design. The Magic Mouse is so shallow I'd often end up lifting it up off the mouse pad while using it. And frankly, the scrolling gesture is far inferior to that of the trackpad. It just seems like there's room for innovation here. They haven't abandoned their desktops, so why leave the peripherals unchanged for so many years?
