Their story.

My photos also graced the pages of engadget but they used it without permission (so freaking annoying).

My photo has since been removed after much ranting.. lol

Why would you rant when Engadget sent tons of readers to your webpage? Don't you like the revenue earned from advertising on your site?

If you bothered to read this thread, or even the last page, you would see that he told us why^^ few posts up.

@ UltraNEO, loved this post! :D I would love to take my system apart. Can you teach me step by step? :p

Thanks :)

As for dismantling your system. Well.. there are some fairly decent online guides online from sites like ifixit.com (images) , powerbookmedic.com (video). Since the physical construction and layout hasn't changed all that much, following guides for older models will get you inside the machine.

Now, I'm assuming that you know, cracking open your machine could lead to the end of your warranty? and the life of your Mac, if you break something. Because I and those site won't take any responsibility for your actions.

Thanks again for posting the Handbrake Pics. Sorry you had to go out of your way, but it really made a difference!

It's rare to find such a concise write up coupled with such clear pictures. Well done, friend, and thanks.

I don't know if it's well done or not, I believe you'll be able to tell.

You know, this thermal grease thing was tested several times like 2 or 3 years ago: http://oreilly.com/pub/a/mac/2006/05/23/thermal-paste-question.html. It provided a temp decrease of about 2 degrees. Hardly worth risking your machine and your warranty over, new or refurb.

Oh... I don't just rip the machine apart to reapply the paste; that's what everyone else does. I do tweak it a little. It might be only a few degrees but that could extend the life of the machine... especially if it's got nVida inside.
