SSD Orders

There are at least three of us with SSD's. You are the only one I know of to have both matte and SSD's. It looks like the matte option delays things the most. Still, you ordered over two weeks ahead of me and the other fellow who ordered SSD's--we both ordered January 26-28th time frame. If there are any other SSD orders chime in now with your order date, location, and status.

Those of us with SSD Orders should use SSD Orders as a title to help us keep up to date on things.

No change on my order 2.93/SSD/Aperture/FC Express. Funds have been held on my CC long ago. Not Shipped.

I ordered an anti-glare display with a SSD, 2.93 and 8 GB RAM on Jan 7. My status is:

Not yet shipped
Estimated delivery: Feb 27
Cancel button on order detail is not yet greyed out
Location Canada

I am unhappily following this thread on a much too frequent basis!

shipped, but...

I still don't have a tracking number! Anyone else in the UK have one yet?

Also, Apple still haven't taken the money from my account yet (although it says shipped) and there is definitely enough money in there! weird?

Carrier tracking info

Wail, When did you get a UPS tracking number? With my 'in transit' I've only got Apple's ref that gets me nothing on the UPS site. Did you get a separate email?
Thanks

Eventually there will be a tracking number on your Apple Order Status page. That tracking number will be clickable and shows you more Apple tracking information, which includes the carrier name. With the carrier name and the carrier tracking number, both from Apple's detailed order status page, you will be able to track your item.
Check out my earlier post in this thread to see where the tracking number will appear: https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=7120861#post7120861

2.93GHz

This thread is getting confusing. It is like baby steps. We are sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for really insignificant incremental events to occur, counting each tiny shipping event, analyzing what is happening--all because Apple is so damn secretive and lame about keeping us informed.

Tomorrow the 19th of February. I have a feeling Apple will not make that date for me and the others that have ordered SSD. The matte displays are going to be even later. Why can't we know when?

So what do we know? The standard configuration machines have been shipped and at least one has been delivered.

What about custom configurations?

Have any 2.93GHz machines been shipped?

Have any with software pre-installed shipped?

I feel like I need to make a spreadsheet just to estimate when mine will be delivered. On the other hand, the anticipation will just make receiving it so much sweeter.

If you post something, please include your configuration options.

i have flown from the US to china several times. i mean really how long can my computer be in transit from china to ?? i don't know where in the US it will go first. i'd like to see some info pop up on my fed ex page! haha

But thats just flying yourself. They fly many many packages and stuff. When they land, they have to scan each of the barcode so the package gets entered into the database saying where it is.

Yeah, I'd agree with you. Wouldn't be unprecedented, for sure.

If they miss the 19th, I'm getting a free MDP->DL-DVI adapter, one way or another. I can understand an "Oops, component supply problem, sit tight" delay. What would tick me off is a "Oops, it was actually the SSDs as well, turns out we have none" delay. =P

just as i wrote that it updated with being in ANCHORAGE. go figure haha

does anyone know why, if i order today, it wont be with me until 3-4 weeks (20th march-ish). i dont understand how they have started shipping but will take a month to ship those which are ordered today, i mean, surely supplying the pre-orders wont take a month?

and why has the apple been saying 3-4 weeks for at least over 2 weeks now. its false advertising, it should be gradually going down to 2-3 weeks then 7-10 business days like it did when everyone thought they were coming before the delay. oh apple, i want a MBP soooo bad but im so darn impatient!!

My machine's with yours: same time, same place (Poland). Quite a trip if you believe the tracking info:
China -> Germany -> Korea -> Poland. (so far)
... oh, and I still don't have a delivery date from UPS while Apple maintains 19 Feb (changeable).

I think it was more like ...

China => Korea => Germany => Poland

The reason they show-up funny is that the tracking doesn't adjust the times based on the different time zones. Hence, mine shows to have arrived in Korea before it left China, and arrived in Germany before it left Korea!

Anyway, it has since left Poland. I just hope that the next stop to be UK!

Funny updates I've had.

Yesterday, all throughout the day it was saying "Not yet shipped", and then all of a sudden, it said "Shipped". There was nothing in between. It just suddenly got shipped. This morning, however, it said "delayed" but still "for delivery 19th" for some odd reason which I couldn't figure out, but the tracking with UPS was showing a progress of its travel across the globe.

So, when did the tracking number appear? No idea  .. is the tracking information accurate? Obviously not, since Apple's site says it's "delayed" while UPS says it's since left Poland.

:confused::confused::confused:

Yes, I have a UPS tracking number .. and it seems that it's on schedule for delivery .. if the UPS tracking is accurate, and Apple's site "delivery for 19th" is accurate too.

No idea, but may be they are being prudent! Also, they may have .. from past experience .. seen sales order increase exponentially once they start delivering a new product vs. pre-orders; hence, there would be a huge waiting list.

I ordered on the 16th of February. It says I'll get it 3/20/09. :(

It looks like those of us who ordered from a retailer will be having a much longer wait. I just talked to Mac Mall and they said that Apple has delayed their shipment once again and, at present, it is scheduled for sometime next week. I don't think any of us can expect our computers before March.

Mine shipped yesterday. 2.93, 8gb ram, 7200rpm drive.. glossy display. I ordered third week of January with delivery of Feb 9.. was pushed to Feb 19th.. but checked yesterday and showed prepared for shipment. Received my email today that announced it was shipped.. with tracking number, and I can see it left the China facility at 12:08am (Chinese time) ... shows delivery by 23rd.. but typically I receive them a day or so early.. figure it'll be stateside tomorrow early.. to me by Friday.

For those who ordered from Macmall or other retailers.. looks like Apple is sending to their stores, online orders, and to retailers.. so your books should be on their way to the retailer.. but they will then have to process and send out according to who ordered first as well.. one extra step in the process.. good luck!

My ship/deliver date changed to:

I'm still "Prepared for Shipping" though.

I wonder if the CPU is socketed or fixed? If fixed, then there is minimal configuration effort involved in popping in memory boards. I have a feeling these will not be socketed--simply to save weight and space.

Has a system shipped with extra software loaded?
