I feel like a kid at Xmas, I went to bed early last night hoping to get up and see a change and there it was! :)

My new 500GB 7200 drive will be in today so I can prepare that for installation once the macbook pro arrives!

Nice going. What brand/model drive are you putting in?

You must be the earliest SSD order. Perhaps the earliest matte as well.

so it seems :)

MBP 17-inch Antiglare Widescreen Display
2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
256GB Solid State Drive

but I donno if I will be the "first" to recive it .. and it does not realy matter . I just want it . Have waited long enough now ...

its sooo random it almost feels like there's a strike at the factory is china and they're building and shipping randomly :D

*snip*

No. It's always like this for a new product roll-out.

Apple have a logical way of deciding shipping order. Unfortunately, no one outside Apple understands the mechanism and this leads to outrage in those who tend towards a false sense of entitlement.

In the case of the liquid-cooled G5s, even the first few machines to ship were over 6 weeks late! There was serious steam being blown-off in that thread!

There are at least three of us with SSD's. You are the only one I know of to have both matte and SSD's. It looks like the matte option delays things the most. Still, you ordered over two weeks ahead of me and the other fellow who ordered SSD's--we both ordered January 26-28th time frame. If there are any other SSD orders chime in now with your order date, location, and status.

Those of us with SSD Orders should use SSD Orders as a title to help us keep up to date on things.

No change on my order 2.93/SSD/Aperture/FC Express. Funds have been held on my CC long ago. Not Shipped.

I am in the UK and was getting that too. I tried in the US page and had a tracking number come up and courier company:

Shipped on: Feb 16, 2009 via Syncreon Technology

The tracking number is not very useful as I cannot use it on their website. Try this link to see yours and post back your results:

https://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/OrderStatus

I get exactly the same thing, i think its just some random code to annoy you and make you think its on it way, theres no way that code can be used to trace your package, even on Syncreon's website as you said. I was hoping since mine Shipped on Monday i'd see it before the weekend but i guess not, im getting an estimated delivery date of the 26 which flicks backwards and forwards between 26th and 27th every 5 mins.

I finally received my Shipped Notice Email. Today is a good day. :)

I have an order date of Jan 13. 2.93 with SSD. My CC was showing a hold of the amount of the MBP the last few days and now it is not. I am still showing a status of Not Shipped but a ship date of February 19.

I am heading to Europe Sat. so now I guess no rush to get it. As long as it's here when I get back the following week.

Mine is still sitting at Not Yet Shipped. It's definitely frustrating to see later orders shipped, but there is nothing I can do about it.

I just received a call from apple. They said:

"Your system is scheduled to ship no earlier then the 27th and no later then the 3rd."

The site says:

Ships Mar 5
Delivery Mar 10

I'm sad now.

SSD Orders

Man, by the time our SSD machines ship, Samsung (guessing that's Apple's supplier for the current ones) will have a 320GB SSD shipping! lol!

Aw, I made myself sad. Cancel that lol.

By the time everyone gets their new 17MBP, another Tech year will have gone by (tech years are 1.5 months IMO).

500gb 7200 drive

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4434267

Got great reviews and the speed bump alone from the stock 5400 320GB should be a big improvement.

I didn't know Seagate made a 7200rpm 500GB drive. I may buy one for my Mac Mini.

Why the heck doesn't Apple offer this Seagate drive? Not that it matters. Their upgrade price is always the actual cost of the drive--it is like you lose the cost of the base drive. It would still be better to buy their base drive--pull it, and then install the drive you want--selling the base drive. I've done this several times. You get the value of the sale.

I hope I didn't make a mistake buying the SSD. I am not so concerned about the delivery date as I am the type SSD that is installed. I'm still hoping it will be the new Samsung. If it is some other brand and much slower, I'll regret the decision.

Just got updated shipping info. Estimated delivery 20th of Feb (This Friday!)

This is great news. As before I ordered on the 4th of Feb - Original Estimated Delivery was the 18th of Feb - So my order has only been delayed 2 days basically. :D - Specs in Sig. It's being sent to the UK.

It sounds like you are the earliest SSD order w/glossy display. That makes at least four of us in here.

I'm out of town at present, but I will be home on Sunday. If I get mine first I'll open it up and post some pictures. We shall see what brand SSD is installed. I'm still hoping for the new Samsung.

Orders Placed in February

Alright, with alot of people getting they're shipping dates, tracking numbers, prepared for shipping, and even getting these, what is the status of people who have placed an order in Feb.? I ask this only because I have placed an order within the EPP store on the 6th of Feb. early in the morning EST. When I had done so I didnt see the 3-4 weeks I saw the 7-10 days. I have ordered the base model and nothing more. The set shipping date I have on my order status is March 9th and delivery set for March 12th. Now thats about five weeks from order date.

So, with that rambling out anyone have their order changed that was place in February?

I placed my order Feb 2nd and some time last night my order moved to "Prepared for Shipping". I upgraded the processor, hard drive (to the 7200 RPM not SSD) and had iWork pre-installed.
