So the plane left Alaska at 5:47p.m. NY time. From Alaska it goes to Indianapolis which is about 9 hours away by plane. This should bring us to around 3-4a.m. NY time. If it clears customs fast it will then come to NY which is about 2 hours away which brings us to around 6-8a.m. NY time. If all goes well what do you think the odds are of it getting on the truck for delivery tomorrow (Friday) morning???

Im hoping it works out but if worse comes to worse I can pick it up on Saturday from the Fedex facility near me after spending all day on the phone.

Can you actually do this? I thought they would say "Sorry, Apple payed us to deliver X to location Y, that's what we're going to do."

It would have cleared customs in Alaska since last I checked, that is the US.

Sorry I wasn't very precise. I meant pick it up at the nearest Fedex facility on the weekend seeing as I'm leaving abroad Sunday night and won't be able to pick it up on Monday morning (I'll have a friend ship it to my destination with Fedex again =| )

Sure! Choose the instrumental song "Ceremony" by Joe Satriani for the songtrack.

Unbelievable. You're a Joe fan? I have all his stuff since 1988. I have rarely met people in the wild that even know of him.

But most people don't know good jazz either, so not really that surprising in the current "teeny bop" culture we live in.

Oh, I need to provide an update on the supposed jetliner rendezvous with the FEDEX plane from China.

Well, it didn't happen, but a hell of a ride, I must say. The MBP will probably be delivered tomorrow.

I was able to radio the captain of the FEDEX flight from China and wire him $2 million to his Swiss bank account tonight so that he would get it here (Houston) before the weekend.

I hope he comes through...

Thank you on behalf of all of us waiting for our MBPs. There's a thread in the forums regarding my question however.

Yeah, usually customs inspection happens at the port of entry, but in the case of Fedex or UPS that isn't Alaska. Customs packages usually pass through Indianapolis or Nashville. With large shipments such as these the paperwork is already completed and usually goes right through.

You think if there was something hazardous, it wouldn;t be wise to check it at the heartland of the US.

Perhaps more disruptive to clog a port city?

I think Alaska is more of a place to stop, change the crew, and refuel more than anything else. I don't think they have the capacity or capability to handle the number of packages that pass through the airport each day. It would also add an additional sorting step which would hold up shipments even more.

I guess we will see whether it comes straight to Houston from Alaska or through Indi.

Edit: Well, stick my foot in my mouth. I just check the FEDEX status and at Midnight Indianapolis time, it just cleared as "Intl. shipment release." I am hoping it is on the plane to Houston now. We'll see, again.

It's so frustrating I've been checking the UPS tracking pages since my machine shipped from Apple and its continually given me dates of the 20th for delivery (Today) - The Package finally arrives in my country at 3am this morning (Infact it arrived at an Airport that is like only 1 hour away from me by car ) and the tracking page just updated delaying my delivery to the 23rd!

So frustrating ...

How did you find our the actual flight # of the fedex plane? I guess this has minds too! :p

There's a San Jose hub for me to try to get it on Saturday :)

I think its a guess thing, i knew mine was on the indianapolis flight because of the departure flight hour on that website, and the departure hour on my fedex status page, other than that i don't know...

Anybody knows whats the closest hub to austin?

There's no San Jose Hub.. theres a San Jose routing center. The plane comes into Oakland International Airport if I remember correctly... unless FedEx changed.

No matte given the ship date I take it. That makes you the earliest SSD w/o matte order, if so. Your order will ship first once SSD orders start moving. Please keep us informed.
