I updated my 3GS running 3.1.2 and in Cydia I got an error about my cellular signal and then it went into a spinning ball loop. I had to do a hard reboot, but after that it's been fine.

Same thing happened to me this morning. Got the "Respring Device" button, cell bars turned into "No service", couldn't leave the Cydia installer screen. I did a hard reset and it seems to be working fine. Cydia now says my MS is up-to-date.

I'd read about some people having trouble with the new mobile substrate update, but I figured the bugs would've been worked out of it by now, and assumed I might need it to update any other cydia apps anyway.

So I bit the bullet this morning and installed it, after which I was greeted with a spinning wheel that must've stayed on my screen for around ten minutes after I hit 'restart springboard.' I did a hard reboot at this point; now I'm stuck on the apple logo screen.

I'm hoping the phone will eventually boot up if I let it sit on the apple logo long enough, as has happened before. But I'm still pissed about this. I'm obviously not the first person who's run into trouble with this MS update. I wish saurik would've taken a little more care about releasing a piece of software that could interfere with people being able to use their phone, especially when problems seem to be fairly common.

Okay, iPhone finally booted up after sitting on the apple logo screen for what felt like an eternity. It always gives me a scare everytime I'm stuck on the apple logo, although the phone always eventually seems to boot itself up from this stage (I believe the system is doing some kind of cleaning of trash files during this time?).

Like others here, I noticed I'd lost cell service after rebooting, but disabling then reenabling 3G and edge through SBSettings seemed to fix things.

So anyone else having problems with this update, take heart, and don't rush to do a restore. This doesn't appear to be anything fatal.
