Waiting for these to hit the Best Buys where I live. They aren't even showing in the system yet. Using the Helium at the moment though. I have about 55 days left to return it so hopefully it'll be in before then.

I want the red one. Looks as though it's going to be a Mophie.com exclusive like the other red ones. I just hate paying $99 plus 8% tax plus $10 shipping for a damn juice pack. Can't believe mophie charges shipping on that tiny item.

----------

I work there. It doesn't show up at all for any stores in the district at the moment.

Bestbuy is the most worthless company on the planet. I called the store the other night, they checked and said they have 5. I went in, and the store was a mess, those stupid shipping totes everywhere. The guy in mobile first told me I didn't know what I was talking about and that it was called "Helium" until he saw Mophie's website, then I gave him a sku 6983347 and he kinda backtracked, but then he couldn't find them (total disorganization), then he went to check other stores and couldn't because best buy is a mess of a company who doesn't know how to run a retail environment.

I thought it was just incompetence at the store level, but it's not, it's top down, idiots at corporate, idiots in the store. It's why best buy has closed half their stores in a year, and why they will be gone from brick and mortar retail within 2 years.

The one thing they have going for them is the ability to satisfy the "I need it now" and they can't even get that right. I will never buy there again. I hope the company burns in @#%.

This experience wasn't one store, it repeated itself in 3 stores like a bad nightmare. The entire company is a JOKE.

For the poster, better start looking for a new job!

At what point did you lay down in the middle of an aisle and throw a temper tantrum? Or did you save your entire rant for us?

At my local Best Buy (New Hampshire), they had 2 slots reserved on the shelves for the Heliums but none in stock. I don't know if this means they sold out and are on order or if they are expecting the first batch to come in. I'm not sure whether or not to get the air or helium now anyways so I guess it's a good thing that wasn't my only option cuz I woulda bought it. Haha

BBY customer service sucks.

I went to the BBY Mobile section and asked about the Air and the employee there couldn't find it even when it shows in their system that they had five in stock (the employee stated to me that they did a full store inventory count the day before). I asked the BBY Mobile rep if he could go to the back and ask the inventory guys about it. He proceeded to give me weird faces and kept on saying that they don't have it. That doesn't even make sense since the inventory count should be up to date.

I walked up to the customer service desk and asked for them to find the Air. The same employee who helped me at the Mobile section walked up and gave me the Air and said "oh I knew we had those in stock thanks for waiting."

What an idiot. Most retail guys at the bottom of the totem pole don't care anyway. They could care less about being professional and provide the best customer service possible. All they want is that paycheck.

I ended up purchasing the Air and matched the price ($99.99) on Mophie's site. BBY had the Air priced at $104.99 and the Helium at $83.99.

Huh? Best Buy has the Air at $99.99 and the Helium at $79.99 ... where are you located? Must be outside the US.

Oh that's right, we're expected to just sit back and let people we're trying to give money to abuse us and treat us with no respect or professionalism. Sorry I complained about a common experience at best buy.

Yeah, complaining on a forum does a lot and you clearly have no clue what abuse is. Anyone with a set would have simply walked out of the store after saying to them what you subjected all of us to.

Yep, which is what people are doing in most cases, which is why BBY is in such dire financial condition.

My local Best Buy has terrific customer service, and they are very helpful over the phone. With frequent discounts it's great.

Not sure where you live, I'm from San Diego and none of the stores have any sense of customer service. Discounts? They haven't issues a coupon in a year. They don't do coupons anymore, not sure what you're getting "discounts" on. In fact, they're under investigation for falsely discounting by inflating a price about a manufacturer's set price and then discounting it to the manufacturer's price.

I'll probably get called crazy but I returned my Air. Ultimately I can deal with the with the stock battery life as I have lightning cables at home, work and in my car. So the Mophie is a luxury.

What it boiled down to for me is that the the taller iPhone 5 seemed almost awkwardly long with the Air on and I wasn't happy with the new charging port location. When I hold my phone one handed my pinky finger rests right there and it's kind of annoying.

So yes, I'm being a bit particular, but those were my impressions. Other than that the case was awesome as was the quality.

Yup same sentiment. I am usually around a charger. So for me it's seems to be a bit unnecessary. It is great quality and fit. Much better than the helium. I just got used to the light iphone that going heavier is just strange. If you can't hit an outlet get this thing. Or if you don't mind the weight and length, this thing looks like it is made to last.

During the business day I'm usually not in one place long enough to recharge. That's why a Mophie Air is ideal. My phone gets so much use, even an Air runs down to approx 20% remaining by days end. I'm not sensitive to weight & size which helps as well.

As for me, the Air or Helium is a necessity since I plan to travel a lot more this year. I'll be in Vegas for a couple weeks in May and July. I'll also be in New York near the end of the year so an extra battery like the Air and an external battery is a must.

Without a Mophie I was deliberately managing battery life by minimizing my usage. Installing the Mophie was a real eye opener. Turns out I get a lot more done without having to be concerned about a short lived battery. What an asset a Mophie is.

Yep, same here. With a Mophie, I can achieve the dreamland of using the phone with zero consideration for battery life. They're not for everyone, but workdays I'm typically 12 hours away from the mains and previously I had to carry a portable battery and have a "charging strategy" - that's a depressing phrase - where I had to think where I'd be in one place for half an hour or so, get out the battery, lightning cable etc.

The worse thing is when people tell me that "you don't need one, the battery is fine", or "just carry an external battery/mains adaptor", exhibiting that pathetic mentality that's so prevalent on the net of "it's not targeted at me, it doesn't interest me, it's pointless".

The fact is, the inbuilt battery simply isn't upto the task of any significant amount of tethering, nav, calls and data usage beyond half a day, and this fixes that.

I travel 400,000 miles a year and I don't use a charge pack, hehe. Tho first class and business class has plugs, hotels have plugs, and just about everywhere I go has them. I guess it's comfort blanket for some.

This narrow minded post is just as bad as your random tirade on Best Buy.

Yeah, I find it amusing it appeared immediately after I'd posted;

How utterly predictable. Comfort blanket lol, not everyone is either a desk jockey or in air conned rooms 10 foot from the mains all day, good grief.

Agreed. Your post was pretty on point as to how I live with my phone. I have a desk but meetings and just life in general can't always guarantee that I'm near a plug. Not to mention having to actually carry the cable everywhere. Putting it in a bag isn't a big deal but having a battery as a case all in one has a huge advantage for a lot of people. I don't always carry a bag.

For someone that supposedly travels so much yet still doesn't see the utility it makes me question why said individual is even posting or trying to purchase a battery case.

Anyway, the Air is great. Been using it for over a week now and have really no downside. The grip on the back is a massive improvement over the iPhone 4 Juice Pack Plus variant and has so far held up significantly better. I've also been able to use the default headphones/earpdods fine without the adapter. They push in fine whereas on the Helium I had an issue getting them to lock in place in the hole.

The case is really lightweight (feels on par with an Otterbox Defender) and the rounded back actually makes the phone easier to hold for me at least. If I had one complaint it would be that the band around the edge of the phone is a little slippery but the grip on the back more than makes up for that due to how one would naturally hold the case.

I honestly find it nicer to hold. Aesthetics only really interest me in the first month or so having the phone, at which point I ooh and aah at the pretty, after which it becomes like my keys and wallet, something I stuff in my pocket as utility devices, not ornaments or trinkets.

Yet you stated earlier that you wanted to get the Juice Pack Air.
