Wow, those really are bad aren't they! Hopefully the masses will refuse to buy from o2, and they might actually do something about it.

Seems odd that they have made tariff's worse when there's a lot more competition out there now.

If you sign up right now, you'll get unlimited data right up to October 2010.

If you signed up two years ago, your unlimited data will be stopped in October 2010.

If you signed up on September 30th, 2010, you'd have 1 day of unlimited usage, then bam... back down to limits.

In bold. They cant do that can they? That isnt the agreement i signed. If i dont renew or upgrade, they have to keep me on my existing data plan surely? Makes sense for me to just buy a PAYG phone now, and stick with my expired contract.

However, if you're happy as you are on an existing O2 deal with unlimited data, O2 says it will let you stay on that plan as long as you like, including those that sign up before 24 June.

Well done O2!

You've managed to make my decision a lot easier now, Vodafone it is unless they manage the same level of spectacular fail. I'll be enjoying the phone call to get my PAC code :)

is anyone else thinking about taking out the current iphone simplicity contracts, with unlimited data, before they remove them? Then just get the iPhone 4 on paygo?

Will they send you a micro sim if you say you're going to do that? or will you have to chop the one you've got. I'm thinking about doing that now, the tariffs are a total joke.

If unlimited data ends for everyone in oct 2010, does that mean we all lose it, even on a 30 day simplicity??

Every single contract with data will move to the limited data in October, regardless if you sign up now.

Ive added it to my post above, but this is the quote from Techradar.

It appears if you have an expired contract, and just want to let it roll, you will stay on your existing data plan.

There's no way I'm starting a new contract on thsoe tariffs, I'll keep my £20 a month simplicity thanks.

So how will it work getting a new micro-sim and keeping the same number?

Can O2 pull the existing Simplicity deal at any time if they like?

TERRIBLE move by O2.

I, like most people, plan to spend £35 per month max. I would be willing to go up to a 24 month contract.

To find that even after paying them £35 x 24 = Whatever that I can only use 500MB of data a month, this is AWFUL.

I will 100% be moving away from O2, to another provider now.

Ha capped data. I will be staying with my £20 simplicity for iphone plan and buying pay as you go phone!

I am presuming the handset will on prepay will cost the same as the 3GS - £549/32gb

Don't be so sure - I was smugly thinking that I would just stay on Simplicity 20 for the uncapped data, but then I realised that the 30-day contract thing works both ways: O2 can change the data plan as much as they want as long as they give you 30 days notice.

Anyone have any idea on the price of the handset?? any rumours? The upgrade policy is good (But nowhere near what the US gets).

Well time to go shopping!
T-Mobile's tariffs are starting to look worlds better now!
I'm on Simplicity £20pm get a 3GB data cap ;) tested it tethering this month cause getting a new BB provider. If my terms don't change I'll just go PAYG.

Is there a way of checking what your monthly data usage if you are on o2?

Edit: Just found it on the website –*I've used 42MB in the last 8 days. That would put me well under 500MB per month, if that is indeed what my average usage. Still doesn't make the deduction in my minutes allowance any better.

Yes, as above. Cancel it, change it whatever. As long as they give you 30 days notice.

I don't think O2 are allowed to do that are they? once you've signed up to a contract they're obliged to keep it until you move to another one. They did this with me, as they allowed me to keep my unlimited text bolt-on after they'd removed it as an add-on

EDIT: my bad, see post #50

They are clever gits aren't they! For those of us on iPhone simplicity it makes perfect sense to get pay, which means o2 get all their money up front. Well screw you o2 - I'm getting mine direct from apple!
