Thank you but I prefere the Galaxy S3 screen. This tall iPhone looks stupid. Its the same iPhone 4/4S.... just .5 inch taller.... commonn.. Apple can do better than that. If thats the new iphone... it looks like crap

Well, he's got a point when it comes to the design.

Same exact things were said about the 4. Funny how history repeats itself. You won't find me making that comment this time. :p

You've repeated that over and over. Your repetition is not accomplishing anything nor is it adding value to the thread.

Oh excuse me.... pardon me... next time I'll find something new to say and give you something new to read.

Or just go offer something of value to an Android thread since you have nothing of value to say here.

I didn't say that about the 4, they had me at the Gizmodo leak already. It is one of the best pieces of industrial design ever. This one just looks sloppy in comparison - that was his point about the design being very un-Apple. It's hard to top something as good as the 4, i know - but really, it doesn't even look like Apple is trying at all.

Well I did and this time I'm saying the opposite. I love the unibody case. I love the gun metal grey color. I love the thinner build. I love the new dock. I like the thinner bezels on top/bottom (I'd love them if they were even thinner).

You can go on with your life now... thank you very much...

It never stopped. :D

We got it the first 5 times you pointed that out. You don't like it. No need to say it again.

Actually, one more time wouldn't really matter would it?:p

I don't like it.

Tim, seriously.

Jony, come on man. You can't possibly think this is an attractive device?

It's neither the unibody, the color, the thickness or the dock connector - Apple could (should be able to) pull that off. It's the asynchronous bottom and the unaligned back camera, it just lacks the flair of Ive...

Hell, even the speaker holes aren't straight.

They aren't the most successful mobile manufacturers in the world, sorry...

He said successful, not largest. And, depending on how success is measured, he may be correct.

I would rate success on customer satisfaction and corporate profit, both of which Apple wins hands down.

This. The only reasonable measure of success is profit share and consumer satisfaction. Apple still dominates both.

This iPhone has the same aspect ratio as the Galaxy S3.

So if you think that this phone is thin then the same goes for the Galaxy.

But of course you won't criticize the Galaxy...it's the most perfect and best phone ever!! Right?? Hypocrits.

Actually, one more time wouldn't really matter would it?:p

It might. The mods might determine its of no value and therefore against forum rules. So feel free to discuss the issues, but both of you need to stop saying useless statements telling us you don't like it I've rand over.

Don't know what you mean by asynchronous bottom and for me a centered camera would be awkward.

I wanna love you iphone 5, but I just can't.

Have a look at the Samsung ATIV S Win 8 phone...

This looks like an object of desire:

Apple used to make objects of desire - I'm not so sure anymore.
The next iphone - is certainly not an object of desire in my opinion, and I've been waiting so long since my 4 for something to come out.

There is a big possibility I'll dump my iphone despite having investment in the iOS ecosystem when my contract is up in Nov.

Now I know what some of you are thinking, but I'll be willing to bet there's a lot of you out there licking your lips over this.

.

Neat and tidy but TOTALLY uninspired industrial design. Look at how many extraneous little flourishes and fiddly bits of faff there are.

Apple's aesthetic has always been form follows function and this new handset continues that approach in tandem with an iterative evolution of the previous designs.

Put simply, they will never make the phone you've highlighted as there is too much about it that is there purely because someone thought "hey, it might look cool if we..."

If that reasonably attractive, but essentially void of core concept design appeals to you there's a very easy thing you can do - buy it!

Oh yeah, that screen is 16:9 ratio BTW. Funny how often taller screens crop up on designs people are saying they much prefer to the 'weird' new iPhone design.

People fear change though I suppose...

Not minimal! It is huge. We are talking about a small phone here, that is why it is huge. Yes, I will buy the iPhone 5 but I was hoping for a smaller iPhone 5 than 4s! No, it is even bigger! Geeez, why?

Personally if the next 5 iPhones looked exactly like the 4 and 4s but with better internals, I'd buy them. I really don't buy this arguement that Apple has to change the form ever, much less every two years

It can still be functional yet many people seem to get bored, I was never surprised when there was not a form update after only one year, that is just not going to happen. Two years? more likely. There are only so many designs a phone can have.

I have not read the million other topics about this next statement, I imagine it cannot have a five in the name since it is not the fifth iPhone.

This new iPhone "5" looks just like the iPhone 4 would look if

  • It were taller, with a different aspect ratio screen
  • It had a two-tone metal back instead of glass
  • It had unibody construction
  • The sim card slot were smaller
  • The dock connector were smaller and radically redesigned
  • The headphone jack were moved from top to bottom
  • It had re-designed speaker grilles
  • It had a smaller home button
I know that I and other discerning individuals will be able to tell the new iPhone from the 4 and 4s with a cursory glance. But what about people of slightly below-average intelligence? They'll think it looks like the same phone! Why isn't Apple catering to the needs of the mentally challenged, by making it a flip-phone, or some other radically different design? Doesn't Apple care about the slow-witted?
