iphone 6 leak:

iphone6_sm.jpg

its gonna be so awesome.

You mean like how the leaks regarding iPhone 4S having a tapered design that case manufacturers started producing cases for the new design ahead of launch, only to find a released phone identicle to iPhone 4?

Seriously, stop with the speculations.

1. The external antenna iPhone 4 design was plagued with scandal of handheld reception issues enough for Apple to offer a free case program: I doubt they will repeat the design.

2. There is no better way for your company to lose stock value and investor confidence now that Steve Jobs have passed on, and you show a complete lack of innovative flair by repeating a design in his absence.

3. Apple is invested in a million/billion dollar law suit re: intellectual property rights with competitors. Do you think they would give these copycats a head start by teasing a leak of their new design?

4. By measure of precedence, no previous next gen iPhone has looked like the preceding generation, what makes people think the iPhone 5 will resemble 4/4S?

Those werent any actually part leakes of that phone, only renders and plastic housing of what people believed it to be. This one is totally different in that we have consistant leaks with part images and videos.

Wow... you came damn close to hitting nearly everything I said in my post:
https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/15431544/

Not really, I said I wished it was a throw off. I doubt it is though. The rest, it's just the truth. I can't help it if I want a bigger screen. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. If you will take whatever Apple sends out and call it the greatest thing...that's fine. If it works for you, then there is nothing wrong with that. Won't work for me any longer and the wife likes the iPhone as it is. The headphone jack on the bottom is stupid.

How long did it take for the developpers to offer a retina version of their mac OS apps ? Not so long.

so do you think that the reason given not to widen the iphone for keeping the aspect ratio of the springboard (icons...) is still valid ?

I see allot of people say"Steve left a schedule for the next 5 years" blah blah blah, and who said that they are obligated to follow what Steve told them??? Who said that they will follow it?did they sign a contract or something?
+without Steve around you can imagine how many things that he was opposed to do they can now move ahead and do them?Tall iphone hell ya,a voice echoes "but Steve pulled this one off as an ugly design" and another voice replies "Steve WHO?"
when the cat' s away, the mice play.

Cheers.

In B4 the non-believer - in denial - "Why a taller iPhone???!!!?!!!?" crowd shows up.

MacRumor crowd lately:
"Why a taller iPhone?"
"I am still hoping for a 4.3 wider iPhone!!!"
"It looks like the 4S! I want a dramatic redesign!"
"It doesn't look comfortable!"
"Tim is doubling down on secrecy! These are fakes!"
"Why is the headphone jack on the bottom? That's so stupid and asymmetrical!"
"The design is awful! I'll be sticking with my 3GS!"
"Steve NEVER would have allowed this!"
"I am getting an Android phone!"
"This is all some kind of trick to throw us off of the real design!"

If we could vote for post of the year, this would be it! Brilliant! :D

I heard the 5 year thing also but I can't see Apple sticking to that unless he had something in store than no one has thought of yet. Right now the cell phone market is moving at pretty fast pace. He may have gave them a road concept though

:
Anyway, back to the original post and the "Protective Shield" matter.
Could this be an attempt to make the phone waterproof?
NOW THAT WOULD BE COOL!:)

Agreed, why isnt anyone discussing this more? Thats a complete break from what they've done before. Looking at the part makes me wonder how on earth it works externally - im guessing its missing some bits . It appears to be roughly the same length as the display+1 end part.

What standards? This is a rumor site full of individuals reacting their own way to said rumors. Everyone is free to post their beliefs, so long as they do not personally single out, offend, or break other rules put in place by the site owners.

Even if I don't agree with them, I usually respect an opposing opinion. I am adult enough to respect your opinion, without resorting to placing a label on you.

More On topic....

Corporations have used such tactics in the past, and if you assume apple is above that, people in your situation would be experiencing the intended level of expectation.

Corporations have also leaked misinformation to watch were it leaks from, in order to mole out squeaky individuals that they employ. Doubling down on secrecy may involve such tactics too.

Apple has the money to spend on fake prototyping to achieve such mole hunts, thus why I would not put it past them.

Part of the job of a moderator is to keep discussions on topic. Posting baseless speculation about "hoax" parts and deliberate leaks doesn't help. That said, your immediate reaction of "what standards?" says a lot.

I can't be the only one who gets irritated by the constant posts in every thread that hit on the same points ad nauseam? We always have to have a tangent about the name, a tangent about the likelihood of false leaks, a tangent about what Jobs would have done and who's going to be sued for this that or the other. As a moderator I'd have thought that even if you don't intend to encourage people to stay on topic you'd at least not contribute to the sidetracking of every damn thread with the same, tired old off topic comments.

As long as it does not look like this, I am ok with the new design...

hate it so far, aspect ratio is horrid. x fingers this is an elaborate decoy. Defo gonna leave this cycle out and stick with my iphone 4 and jailbreak the **** out of it.

Sorry was that too much of a generic complaint post.

This place is turning into complaints about complaints! I wanna complain you don't need to tell me I'm not being original. Apple must know I think they made a booboo on this one.

Really

IMO.... Apple is releasing these *leaked* images, giving us all time to get used to the lackluster design so when they actually show the world, it's more like "Oh well, may as well get one." instead of "That's not worth upgrading for, I shall wait for the iPhone7."

Just a couple of cents to add to the fire ;-)

It's a huge marketing tease. It's really the equivalent of, say BMW or Audi, decking their "test" cars out in camo a couple years before intro and then bit by bit removing it as the car's launch date grows closer.

That's...not...what they do.

They camo the cars to avoid spyshots being taken during real-world, road & track tests.

The closer we get, the faster the rumors fly. I've never seen this many rumors so close to a launch. It will certainly be interesting to see how many come true.

Idk man

I heard the new iphone 5 drops in september and their charging 800 dollars... I mean if it doesn't have siri i'll be kinda pissed
