Very tacky Apple.
Who the hell is making decisions over there?

Super Black (sexy) Mac Pro, the rainbow colors of the inconsistent iOS7 and nowww a Gold iPhone. :apple:=

Just a thought..if you don't like gold why not buy buy black or white? I mean everyone has an opinion but I'm sure people will like gold just like people like black and white, get the color you want.

Seriously how much does "KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has offered accurate information on Apple's upcoming product plans numerous times" pay macrumors to advertise his business?

I don't think they pay him (Arn has said numerous times that they always leave an annotation in those circumstances), but this is seriously ridiculous. The guy isn't even that accurate. He cited the iWatch to release this summer (June specifically, IIRC). Did that happen? Nope, not anywhere close. Jim Dalrymple is accurate, not KGI what's-his-face.

I think the obvious assumption is that they are trying to differentiate the iPhone 5S and the upcoming 5C.

I guess they think by making the 5S in gold that it will be viewed as more luxurious as opposed to the 5C.

I think their hearts are in the right place, but by making a gold option I think people will end up thinking exactly the opposite.

It comes off as tacky, and in bad taste.

But only time will tell.

So if you guys are done circle jerking about this, I'd like to say that I would buy one of those, I like flashy, plain old black is just way too boring for me.

New Photos of Gold/Champagne iPhone 5S Parts Leak

Seriously, the amount of angst over the possibility of an iPhone with a metallic finish is really kind of weird. Personally I've always thought the white iPhone looked bad...so I never purchased one, but I didn't think Apple was wrong to include it as an option. If gold helps Apple sell phones overseas, then I say more power to them. As long as they continue to offer black as an option I could care less.

I'm not a fan personally, but everyone made these same remarks about the two tone iPhone 5 leaks.

I wasn't a fan at all of the two tone iPhone 5 mock ups, but when I got my iPhone 5, I fell in love with it.

I will most certainly NOT being getting this gold / champagne iPhone, because I think black looks the best, but I'm sure Apple won't fell to disappoint.

It's the particular word to describe the color. "Gold" has always been seen as the symbol of tasteless opulence. If it was called only as "champagne" the reaction probably would've been a bit different.

Also Macrumor has always been the place to complain about these things. Macrumors wasn't around when Apple introduced the candy color iMacs if it existed I can only imagine the level of apocalyptic tone the hypothetical news thread would have taken. As a reference, check out this iPod thread from 2001 and how much people hated it. A colorful iMac line up would've gathered so much more anger that everyone would've been very sure of the "toy Macs" putting the nail in the coffin for Apple.

Good point. People also freaked out when Apple released the iPad and later the iPad Mini. It's a little annoying to read how easily so many of the members here go all Chicken Little every time Apple makes it an option to buy something they don't personally want (and later decide they do want). I personally have no interest in the gold phone, but being mad about it's possibility is silly but sadly par for the course here at MR.

"Better camera, check...More space, check. Well, we're running out of thing to call this a "new" phone.. I GOT IT! GOLD !!!!!!!

There! A new phone people will buy because its new"!

Gawd, the milking of the Apple loyalist is getting old and more obvious than ever. This has got to be a joke.

I didnt fall for the iPhone 5, (or the "improved iPhone 4s") and wont fall for the 5S. In a million years Jobs wouldnt let his brainchild be sold by Apple in gold. No way......

Nothing. Ming and MacRumors live in symbiosis. The real losers are us, who hang around here wasting our lives talking about these rumors month after month while they are thriving from our visits and clicks. Gotta love the modern world. ;)

what's with all the hate for this gold iPhone? It's not like Apple is discontinuing the black and white option or anything. A lot of people actually like gold colored phones (not just people from the dubai, that's kinda racist). I'm sure Apple will sell a ton of this if it really does get released.

Has Apple ever released a product that did not inspire cries of "it's the end of Apple" here on macrumors?

Whatever color they choose, it makes good business sense to have something to clearly differentiate the 5S from the 5. It will nudge a lot of 5 owners into upgrading so they don't look behind the times.

The problem with gold, and why many people find it so ugly, is that it doesn't actually match or pair with any other colours. Just try...it never works!

This makes it appear to jump out or stand out. It embodies a real "look at me" and showing off kind of attitude that personally I find really disgusting, just like the colour.

In cultures like India or China this is probably what makes it so popular. India is actually a very classist society with far greater disparity and status symbols and showing off wealth are important to them.

Now consider a solid silver with a nice grungy/industrial wash and that is very cool. More subtle, refined, less gaudy and tacky, and matches with any colour.

I don't think the negative reaction has to do simply with the color option. If this is legitimate, it's very symbolic of the company Apple may be becoming, and for many people, that's not the direction they (myself included) would like to see it go.

Of course, all anyone can really do is wait and see what happens. I don't care too much about the phone, but I do care about Apple losing its edge. Not just because I'm personally very fond of Apple, but because its a company that for many years has driven innovation in the industry, and I'm worried about the lack of innovation that may result from Apple becoming less relevant.

Apple, could you please give us less options? We don't need choice or individuality.

Please assimilate us. Please restrict us. Make us one.

again, the accepted racism...against the ME.

and do you really think this is NOT for the Chinese Market? I think you do not actually understand regional tastes, and instead have fun throwing around almost-racist statements...:mad:

Is this your first time on the internet? 90% of comments are racist.

Why all the hate for a different color phone....

All you have to do is simply not buy it. :)

It's not about hating a gold phone, it's about feeling a disconnect with a company you were absolutely sure would never even consider making something as base as a gold phone.

It's like finding out your favorite hip hop radio station switched formats to Christian soft rock.

It's like discovering your favorite old school French restaurant installed a drive thru window.

It's like finding out the sophisticated company you eagerly bought all your thoughtfully designed, understated, elegant tech gear from, now sells cheesy bling like everyone else.

It's about Apple morphing from trend setter to trend follower.
