I still have a 3GS, with a cracked screen.

If this is indeed the new iPhone design I think it looks outstanding and I will be ready, money in hand, to buy one on release day. Bring it on already!

Sorry Jony, Lumia 900 has cleaner design.

Sarcasm? That has lack of vision right down to the name. (Then again, it seems like Apple has been doing some lousy names recently... maybe they should just start referring to them with year numbers?)

A name change to iPhone Optimus Prime? Of course I'm joking.

Honestly, whether or not they call it "The New iPhone" or "iPhone 5" does not phase me any more.

Although Apple named the current iPad, "The New iPad", people still refer to it as "iPad 3".

Whatever Apple comes up with next is sure to impress regardless. Despite the many issues that iDevices have come up against (Antennagate for example), people will still buy them, not because of the flaws, however because of the marvel of engineering, ingenuity of design and because it works.

Sure, iOS is closed and restricted to the App Store (that is closely watched by Apple with the process of them checking your app before you can sell it) but that also means it is harder to give your iDevice malware unintentionally.

I am currently using Android and I miss how I could simply go to Apple for support and replacement when it's necessary. With an Android device, I have to take it to my carrier and wait almost a month for a resolution, while with an iDevice, I get a resolution instantly. Therefore, most people who own a current generation iPhone will still buy an iDevice regardless of flaws.

I dare any of you to recount a good Apple Store experience without a smile on your face.

End of story. Jesus.

What exactly does Jesus have to do with this story?

Oh, I see, you are frustrated by other readers lack of agreement with your point of view and have resorted to taking the "Lord's name in vain" in order to emphasize your point.

How's that working for you?

I just don't understand why the most troublesome item (the home button) on both the iPad and the iPhone remains stubbornly intact. Do away with it and just have a software solution...Result? Less iPhones returned due to faulty home buttons and room for a larger screen. Of course, these images are just speculation anyway, but I'm not holding my breathe for a re-design that removes that button from the device.

Three reasons why I say these leaks are fakes or are the result of leakers being misguided.

1. Tim Cook stated that Apple would be doubling up secrecy. These kind of leaks are the complete opposite of secrecy dooubling. If these so called "leaks" turn out to be true, Timmy's going to look like an ars.

At the time he said that, the leaks were already out so too late. Anybody can pile up on the existing leaks.

Secrecy doubling would have to happen with the 7th generation iPhone.

This looks like something machined in a small workshop somewhere, not like something coming from Apple. The level of quality and craftsmanship is low and not something I'd expect to see coming from Apple, even in the early design phases and mockups.

Shop Class

This is just way to low quality even for a sizing sample. Not sure how it could be a "mass" sample unless they are only looking at size. Mass would include size and weight.

Yeah so the camera hole on the back doesn't line up with the corner rounding.

Also it is too close to the gap.

I beleive this is the design, but this specific thing is just something someone did with their spare time in their metal shop.

Are you kidding me? Anyone with access to a aluminum milling machine (and there quite a lot out there) could have made this brick, make pictures and put it on the net and sell it as an engineering sample of the next iphone!

Not every PoS must appear on macrumors!

The fact of the matter is.... no one really knows and never will....

As it just so happens, no one knows whether or not these are legit or not and never will until that day in October when Apple announces the new phone as we're all sure they will.

Now personally I can agree and disagree with many of the comments people have been making; yes, there have been leaks before about Apple products that turned up being right, but there have also been many that were wrong (ex: iPhone 4S and not the iPhone 5). Now I agree that this aluminum shell could be real, but honestly it could easily have been made by anyone who just wants to stir things up in the rumor mill. I personally don't think that Apple would create something lacking this much innovation. As we've seen with each of their phones, their has been a maximum of 2 phones having the same design, and I don't think that this next phone will be like the 4/4S. I think it will most likely have a bigger screen size, will have a much needed updated FaceTime camera, and will most likely be thinner than the 4S and will sport a different design because the iPhone gives them that amount of variability. With the iPad, I just don't think there is a whole lot they can do to change its design for the better because I think its really got the best design it can have (except for the speaker, having it on the back is really bad, but to have the sleek thin design I don't know how they can change it). Also I don't think Apple is going to use glass on the back of this next phone, complaints of shattering and the phone being too slippery, rumors of LiquidMetal integration, and the fact that Aluminum is a staple material used by Apple, I can see this next phone going back to to the aluminum that the original had without the black band at the bottom.

Now granted I do realize this is all opinion, but theres my spiel that I think is backed by a good amount of fact.

Why would it be called the iPhone 5?

1. This will be the sixth generation of iPhone, why the hell would they call it the iPhone 5... My guess is "The New iPhone" (boring), the "iPhone 6", or "iPhone LTE" (this would align with the iPhone 3G, and I like it the best). You can argue with me all you want... The iPhone 3G was the second gen, and the 3GS was the third gen, but is was still just a slight upgrade of the 3G, as with the 4 and the 4S, but you did not see them calling the iPhone 4 the "iPhone 3". This kills the logic of the next iPhone being the iPhone 5, therefore... The iPhone 4s is the iPhone 5.

2. I think making the iPhone 4 only .5 cm taller is incredibly dull and stupid. I don't want a 5th row of icons, I could care less about that. I would be okay it had the exact same case and style as the iPhone 4s, if the phone came with a 4"+ screen with the same aspect ratio as the current iPhone.

3. Those lines are ugly. The pictures also seem to have a different finish inside and outside of the lines, which I also hate.

4. I will not be going to Android... I had a Galaxy SII for my work phone to go along with my iPhone 4s for my personal phone. I loved the screen, HATED the phone. The touch screen was garbage in comparison to my iPhone, and even though it supposedly had such amazing specs. All of the apps I had on both phones seemed to run sooooooo much better on the iPhone. Now I have a black and a white iPhone 4s (Sprint and ATT).

5. If this is the new iPhone, I just simply won't buy it until it changes again. I have owned every version of the iPhone thus far within a month of launch. It will be a sad day if I do not want to purchase the new one.

Those photos are different pieces - the top one has the camera in the center and the bottom one has the camera where it is on the 4 & 4S, with the three "sections" added.

Looks suspicious to me.

I can´t believe Apple is making the iPhone taller… It's freaking ugly. I hope it's fake...

I agree, not a fan of this if ALL they do is make the phone longer (obv internals will be upgraded, I'm speaking design wise)
I was expecting maybe a tapered back ala ipod touch.

We'll see though,

Please tell me you aren't serious...

...front and back...

IOS is stil better , but I wp7.5 phones are pretty good. Definately better than andriod.
I haven't used WP7.5, it might be good but then Microsoft made the same stupid mistake again: WP8 is not upgradable from the current devices, and they will compensate for that with a crap called WP 7.8! It's so like the situation with those WM6, WM6.5 and WP7 in the past. Can't believe Microsoft is still that dump nowadays.
