I believe Apple customer service is ok. I went through alot of run around with my G5 order. I'm glad how everything has turned out though. I can't wait...

Shipping Update

I ordered my 15" on 09/16/2003 at 07:27 AM PST, and according to Apple it is not scheduled to ship until 10/29/2003. I don't get it (at least not for more than a month...) -Others have posted here of same/next day shipping, or 3-5 days. When I placed my order I looked at several configurations (RAM, hard drive, etc.) -Every option showed 4-6 weeks, including the "stock" versions. Did Apple sell out the entire stock in the first couple of hours?

That's not cool :(

I ordered my 17" (up'd HD) Tuesday night, and it was scheduled to ship "9/19 or Earlier". Today, I got an email that it would be pushed back to ship the 24th :(

While this is no October 29th, it's just not cool :(

Also, I emailed Airborne about why they say my iPod is in Taiwan, yet shipping from Illinois and will be here today (11:33 PM - little late!). They got back to me not knowing what was going on :(

And in other news, I ordered something from Amazon mid August, and it was scheduled to be delivered 9/11-9/13, and 9/19, it hasn't even shipped yet!

There's something with these companies starting with A's, I tell ya...

Man, don't get me started with Amazon. Their "Super Saver Shipping" should be "Shipping Somtime this Century". I went for that with a recent order on 9/15, and it said it would ship 9/29. WTF? I changed it to normal surface, and it shipped the next day.

I would think it would cost more to store and keep track of shipments you were sitting on for two weeks rather then just getting it out.

ordered my powerbooks tuesday morning regular low end 15" powerbooks and still nothing. whats going on if there gona say avaliable today. whats that mean avaliable today for ordering shipping next week

GRRRRR
waiting is the hardest part.
Apple knows were junkies waiting for a hit so dangit give it to us.

Dang now there's a huge jump. What were you holding out for? I mean even a used $400 mac would be about 10x faster and have 10x or more storage then what you had.

You are going to be one very elated person when you get your new computer let me tell you.

7:27? There are hundreds (thousands?) in front of you.

Oh my god.

You're gonna feel the rush, MacNut!

Oh, and I ordered Tuesday *afternoon* (!) and mine's supposed to ship on Tuesday. Whether that's from Sacramento or Taiwan I don't know. I already have my Kensington lock :)

And I opted for the free ground shipping.

arrgh......looking EVERYWHERE for 1Gb so-dimms for the new box, and no-one (other than Apple at outrageous prices...) seems to have any.

Hmmm, I wonder what the ship date would be if I optioned for those? :)

"Sometime this year" maybe? Guess I'll have to settle for 1Gb for now (512x2).... damn....

BTO

I heard that if you do a Build-to-order option, the Powerbook will take longer to ship - especially if you ordered it with one of those 1 GB RAM sticks. That RAM will delay it for a month or even longer.

I ordered mine from MACMALL on tuesday at around 3pm NYC time and they told me 2 weeks. I didn't get the upgraded RAM, but I got the faster harddrive (5400rpm). I decided to go with Macmall because I am saving money with sales tax plus I get a free printer!!

3 to 5 days

I ordered my 1.25 gb 15" on the day of the expo from my local apple dealer in the UK and they said about a week, if I order one to day at the Apple store UK it says 3 to 5 days.

So I may get one soon.

I also ordered a G5 2 gb + 23" LCD on the day that the G5 was announced with the same dealer in the UK, still waiting for that order, he says end of this month.

It'll be worth the wait.

For those of you who are worried about your computer's shipping date being pushed back, I was in the same boat. I ordered right after the Keynote. Originally, it said that it would ship on the same day. However, I got an email from apple on the very same night and my shipment was pushed back to 9/22. I was like WTF. When I woke up this morning, I received a shipping confirmation from Apple and my baby is on its way. It also happened to my Ipod. I ordered it with the powerbook. Originally it said 7-10 business days, but it shipped on the same day. I am getting all my goods in the middle of next week since I upgraded to 2 day shipping. My point is the shipping date is only an estimate, it can change either way. So, cross your finger.
I think one of the main factors with the shipping date is how fast apple can fulfill a certain number of orders. I know for a fact that apple ships in lots and if a certain lot is not full, it waits until it is before it is sent from Taiwan.

Cheers

I ordered my 15" Powerbook on Tuesday morning, 5:10AM PST, so there are a couple people in front of you. However, I have heard on several occassions that Apple likes to underpromise. The shipping date went from Tuesday (The day I ordered) to Sept 28. Im told that I shouldnt worry, and that as several posters have said, it will probably ship come monday morning. My fingers are crossed.

I cant wait for my first Mac!!

Yes, I know it's a link to the 17" Powerbook, but it uses the same memory, and Transintl hasn't updated their pages to include the new 15" Powerbooks.

The prices of 1gb so-dimms are going to be outrageous pretty much everywhere.

Received my 1GHz Alu15 yesterday (9/20).

Had backordered an 867MHz on 8/30 from MacMall. When the Alu15 was announced I switched order to that (same $$). MacMall got their first batch in on 9/19 and tossed 512MB RAM into one and sent it out FedEx overnight Sat. delivery. Awesome! Have it next to my old 667MHz and it's a lot faster even though the 667 has a 5400rpm drive.

Rather than go by the dates on the MacMall website call and ask a rep - I found them to be well-informed and helpful.

My Al Pbk

I received my Superdrive 15" 17 Sept. and it is so choice!! I'm glad that I waited instead of going after the "FrankenBook". I'm using it now to post this message. It's nice to use a relativly up to date machine..

PB Shipping

I ordered by bew 15" PB 1.25/80/Super/1x512/etc... on Teusday morning after the keynote and it had a shipping date of on or before 9/23/2003 and I got an email this morning saying that it had shipped. I am not sure from where yet because the tracking lags behind 12 hours or so. However, I did order the express shipping so we'll see how express it really is.

Just wanted to update anyone else.

I am jealous of those who already have them. I ordered mine Thursday afternoon by phone and it still says it's going to shop on or before 9/18, and hasn't shipped yet. I hope it ships today.

I just got an email that states that my Powerbook has shipped. The FedEx site says it should arrive Wednesday before 12PM, does anyone know if they are quoting local time? Thx.

Just answered my own question. Yes, the destination arrival time is in local time!! Woo hoo, just two more days!

Mine said it would ship by 09/24 and it shipped today. Still not sure where it's coming from as Airborne says "No status available". Someone just said theirs was being delivered by FedEx? Mine is by Airborne. Wonder if FedEx means it's shipping from within the USA and Airborne from Shanghi? Regardless Apple states 2-5 business days for standard shipping. Hopefully by Friday there will be something on my doorstep.

It's almost here!

My 1.25ghz PB is "Out For Delivery" according to Airborne's site--I will have it today!

I also just checked Apple's website, and they upgraded the shipping on the CTO 1.8ghz G5 I ordered to 2-day--free! It's been a good day so far!!

I think we're in the same boat. Mine is also coming by Airborne but the status still doesn't have any details as to where it is being shipped from. We shall see. Hopefully it gets here very soon!!! My old G3 wallstreet has seen better days!

Do you want to hear my sad story?

DHL/Airborne delivered my 15" AlBook on saturday morning. Unfortunately, instead of delivering to my house they delivered it to the Apple Store (Tysons Corner mall, about three miles from my house) which promptly sold it to someone else.

So I'm out a powerbook until the store receives some more stock sometime, plus I'm told I can expect hassles with the powerbook/ipod/printer rebate thing because my serial number won't match my invoice.

My estimated delivery date is Wed, by 12:00PM. I might be getting mine delivered by FedEx because Im in Canada. Not sure if thats why, but might be.
