New PowerBooks - Finally

Airborne has no clue!

I'm in the same boat... My tracking number return this:

No status available. Please call 1-800-AIRBORNE for more information.

So I called Airborne and they said it they weren't sure where it was, because it was being shipped through a partner of theirs. Now, she couldn't tell me if this was DHL or who. She said it would be 2-4 BUSINESS days before it would be delivered. :mad:

Since I payed for the fastest shipping allowed, I'm a tad peeved. Now calling Apple to see if I can get any real information.

You were right. Thanks for being the voice of reason. This will be my first PowerBook and I am just a little anxious to get it. I know I will love it when I finally do get it and all this Airborne stuff will just be a distant memory.

Everybody as I said in my last post...if you need status info, call Apple...you might have to wait awhile to talk to a CS Rep, but believe me it is worth it.

No....sorry, you asked so nicely, but no. It's not likely, and worse it won't be delivered tomorrow because Saturday delivery is an upcharge and must be specified by the sender. Sorry, dude.

To those having problems with Hairborne tracking, try entering the tracking number from Airborne's home page rather than the page that is linked from Apple. Also, if you copy and paste the tracking number, make sure there isn't a space after the number.

And even with all that, Airborne's tracking sucks. But what do I care, I'm typing this on my new PB 17", delivered yesterday (ordered on the 17th). Seriously, I feel your pain, just hang in there, clean up your old email and files in preparation for the new baby.
 
Pain of the wait for my Powerbook

I'm soooo jealous of all those who have gotten their new PowerBooks! I ordered mine on Sep 3rd and was supposed to have shipment by Sep 17 (a day after the new ones announced). The nice people at Apple upgraded my order to a new 12" PB, which I have no complaints about, yet my order was then changed to shipping on Sep 25th... and then... whamo yesterday I got an email saying they were delayed again until Oct 3! I just feel like crying :( !

I see some have had the same jumping shipping date. Has anyone else ordered a 12" that hasn't got it yet?

Stomping feet and pounding head against old iBook :confused:

I was in the same position you were a week ago at this time. I wanted them to come so badly before the weekend. Thursday night I went to bed with the tracking saying it had arrived at LAX. I was sure overnight it would be at the Van Nuys local delivery center and be out to me Fri. Lo and behold mid-day Fri. it tracks to be in freakin Santa Clara! Why is it now 300+ miles away?! I called Airborne, they gave me some runaround about different packages taking different delivery "channels" and said it should be here Monday. I was so disappointed and bummed my weekend would be PB-less.

On a whim I decided to track it again Sat morning, and without it showing back in LA it said "Out for delivery". After 2 hours of going "no, really?, they're just messing with me again" the doorbell rang and every shred of that anxiety vaporized. Good lord I actually said "thanks, have a nice day" to the Airborne guy after all they put me through. :p

I did not pay any upgraded shipping on mine, I don't know if Airborne did Sat. delivery because of their screw ups, but they did deliver it Sat. so don't give up hope completely.

I feel the pain of those still stuck in the tracking mode. I just got the last peice of my order and just plugged it into my new 15 incher. I am about a third of the way through transferring 15gig of mp3's onto my new 40 gig Ipod.

Let's hear it for the education bundle special, and student loans.

Hey graymouser,

I ordered my 12" on 9/23, 3 days ago i think, and my shipping date is Oct 2nd, and has not changed to oct. 3 as some of you have said... i ordered the bundle too and the printer go to me 2 days after i put the order and ipod came today via airborne priority overnight... although i chose ground for shipping, i was very happy with that...

That's awefully dissapointing to hear that your ship date is before mine and I ordered well before you! No offence, but I hope I get mine before you do :D . Good luck in the arrival date though ;) .

Hmm, wtf, I'm not waiting for a PB. In fact I haven't ordered any. The thing I am waiting for, is Panther. And then I'll order a PB. The problem is, I still can't make my mind up about which PB I should get.

Life is WELL hard, isn't it?

Same sad story here, though I haven't waited as long. WTF is up with a MONTH long delay? I ordered the 12" model on the 16th, and up until yesterday my ship date was 'on or before' the 25th. And then halfway through the day it was changed to October 3. If they delay again I'll cancel the order and try to pick one up from of the local mac stores or the university computer shop.

Ordered mine on the 17th at 9:00 am using the academic discount site, and after saying estimated on or before the 26th, they changed it to October 3rd around 11:00 am today. I don't know if it is any specific component, but I ordered with: superdrive, airport, and a 60GB disk. This is my first Mac since an old LCIII, and I am very excited. Everything else I ordered has come including the Bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse, keynote, and virtual PC. Good luck to everyone else.

I think your right.. it must be the compoments people ordered thats holding the PB's up... i ordered mine stock except i added a 60gig HD.. and like i mentioned it before mines has a ship date of Oct 2... hope i dont ginks it by saying this.. lol.. with my luck it will be delayed a few days more.. lol :(

Are you sure the 12" are available in those stores? If yes I am starting to believe that Apple is trying to pack as many sales in september as they can so that they are counted as part of Q3. Does anyone think it's possible?
 
Two day shipping?

So does the "two day shipping" mantra begin once the crate clears customs at the port of entry? For me, it has been more than two days since it left Taiwan.

Does Airborne deliver on Sat/Sun?

I thought that Apple already released their Q3 earnings report. But I could be wrong.

In other news relating to the 10/03/03 ship date, my PowerBook has shipped to yesterday (sometime late at night I'd wager), and when I called Apple a couple days ago they told me they'd upgraded me to overnight shipping at no cost to make up for the delays. So keep the faith people, it will arrive. Now I just need to contain myself until Monday.

I was talking about Q3 2003 calendar year, not Q3 2003 Apple Fiscal Tax year. I doubt they would be able to announce their numbers for Q3 calendar year, because it's not finished. Sorry again for not being clear enough.

I'd say the 2 days are from customs clearance. As for saturdays, apparently someone on these boards received his PB on a saturday, without specifically asking for a saturday delivery. Here is to hoping...

All I can tell you from personal experience is that mine left Taiwan on the 22nd and I still do not have it. The last update for mine that Airborne has on their website is from 9/24 and it says it is in transit. I can also tell you that it will do no good whatsoever to call Airborne because you will get their standard "call back in 24 hours" response.
 
Was wondering if any of the people who have already received their Powerbooks happen to have been part of waybill 770917232? If so, then that means mine has cleared customs and Airborne has just lost track of it.
 
New silver beast

Still waiting for my Powerbook still waiting for my G5 so I've just got a new mobile phone to keep me amused till they turn up.

Plays games, surfs the web, silver with backlit keys colour screen polyphonic sound.

I know "SAD OLD GIT".
