I too had a dead pixel from the moment I started up my new 15.2 Aluminum PB. I took it straight to the Apple Store and the guy at the Genius Bar said that in order to keep costs down there is a "threshold" for the screens... meaning that is acceptable that a certain amount of screens come with dead pixels. My luck that I'm within that threshold, huh?
Dunno about that. I have yet to order mine (waiting for Panther to be preinstalled). But I went today to the Stuff Magazine-What Hi-Fi? exhibition at London Olympia and there was a Apple corner hosted by John Lewis and they definitely had a new Al15" and a G5 (monoprocessor) and they had a stock of all the new iPods... really cool.Originally posted by Loopy
No it's a C350 very small.
Is there anyone still waiting for powerbooks in the UK.
I don't think there is a LCD manufacturer with a 0 dead pixel policy. Most of the time the threshold is something between 5 and 10 pixels. It's common practice.Originally posted by lucidfuse

Thanks for the responce and all the support given in my time of waiting. I called Airborne of Friday and even though it was Overnight priority they told me I wouldn't get it until Monday. If it was shipped on Friday doesn't that mean I would receive it on Saturday? Maybe I'm deranged with all of this waiting. Heaven awaits on Monday though.

I was talking about Q3 2003 calendar year, not Q3 2003 Apple Fiscal Tax year. I doubt they would be able to announce their numbers for Q3 calendar year, because it's not finished. Sorry again for not being clear enough.

Exactly. Apple's Q4 corresponds to the survey's Q3. That's why I was a bit pessimistic about Apple's market share for Q3 2003(calendar). For 2 and a half month out of 3, they must have sold very few PBs.Originally posted by MadMan
FYI - Apple is shipping anything and everything it can by the end of Sept, so it will count for their Q4 numbers. Earnings call is set for Oct 15th.

EDIT: Spelling
I have yet to order mine, and I am still hesitating between the 12" and the 15" (well, sort of). At the moment, I got a iBook 12", and for what I use my mac at home, the size is perfect. And I saw a PB12" (the old model) the other day, and that thing feels sweet. Against it, I'd have to say the size of the screen: I'm used to enormous screen size on my Mac at work, so I feel boxed in when I use my iBook.Originally posted by Potus
For those of you fortunate enough to order the new PBs what made you pick the size you did? I'm especially interested in why someone would chose the 12 over the 15.
Wow, having to wait from july to march...Originally posted by jade
The never ending saga of the 12". Ordered 9/7, scheduled to ship on 10/3
