New Razer Blade Stealth vs. Apple's MacBooks

The article sneakily avoids mentioning that the Razer runs Windows,...! No way I'm getting that one. Why is it even on here? Apples and oranges. I want my 5 minutes back...
Sneakily? Don't people know that if it is not Mac it does not run macos? Do you know that?

How much is MacOS worth? A lot, to many.
Windows is a much more popular OS so your argument actually goes agains Mac.

Didn’t even mention the first thing you will notice when you open them. 16x9 is a non starter for me and limits me to Apple and Surface products. Surface has no TB3 thus I am keeping my 13” MBP for the foreseeable future.

Has anyone noticed how buggy Windows 10 is with high resolution displays? Some apps on my Windows (work) laptop have tiny or huge UI elements, and Windows 10 feels so unpolished to me. That's enough to keep me away form this laptop. I wish I could use a MacBook at work.
Been using Windows 10 since January 2017 on a 15" 4k HP laptop and since Nov 2017 on a dual 4k Ryzen 7 machine. Most apps look fine. The old ones do look blurry sometimes but the newer versions of Windows have better scaling options so that's getting better.

As far as unpolished, yes there are some "classic" elements but IMHO Win 10 is as good as and better than OS X in some tasks. I really don't miss OS X as much as I thought I would. Unless Apple gets their **** together and their heads out of their asses with pricing and specs I don't see going back either.

Why do you think it’s more popular? Kind of the old Android argument.

How can you be a major Apple Blog, and not be able to have a 13" MacBook to do a comparison?

MacBook Pro 13 will lose on all fronts if they chose to compare it with the Razer Blade Stealth...
Except maybe the trackpad.

Same logic, that's also why they don't compare Razer Blade 15" with MacBook Pro 15.
These comparison here are only to make Apple products look good.... More or less just Ads.

But it doesn't really matter, people who chose to use Mac doesn't care about the hardware much.
I prefer Mac because of the OS. And I only look within the boundary of Mac systems.

*I hate Windows 10. Regardless of how good PC is, doesn't matter.

Yes, everyone has noticed.

Give me the non 4k version with the discrete graphics, then hackintosh that badboy and you have a really nice affordable mac alternative for a reasonable cost.

Note* Just hacintoshed a Ryzen 5 2400g and it outperforms apple's lower teir iMac all for $625 CAD ($475 US)

However still rocking a 2012 MacBook Pro. Best MacBook pro ever made. Come on apple get it together!
No it isn’t. The 2014 or 2015 MBP is, depending on whether you like the force trouch trackpad.

Does the Stealth run macOS? Nope

I didn’t buy a MacBook for the hardware.
And you pay hefty for the OS.

I agree. This "vs." comparison seems kinda random/weird to me.

Why this Windows laptop instead of any of the thousands of others that may share some random aesthetic similarities to a MBP?

Also, as you said... runs Windows, so, what's the point of the comparison?
More and more people are moving away because of the abomination Mojave, and Apples general direction with OSX.

Because it's a better OS and ecosystem? Why else would Windows dominate in enterprise?
Because enterprise needs so much customization and Windows tries to allow everything, making it terrible?

It’s the same reason Android is terrible. Full of instability, bugs, security issues, and problems.

Why not compare a similarly spec’d 2018 Razer Blade 15”? o_O
These two models are so different, it’s not even worth looking at.

Yes! 2018 Razor Blade Pro (15 inch) vs the 2018 MacBookPro would be a much more comparable situation.

Since I game sometimes, when traveling, I went with 1K (FHD) Razor 15 with 1080 maxQ. Battery great with integrated graphics, decent portable gaming machine. (Come on, it’s not a well cooled desktop, nor a huge desktop replacement machine)

I have had several MacBookPros in the past, some that gamed well enough. Not anymore.

This crushes the MBP in price to value

?

It’s more expensive and has a slower processor and lower screen resolutiom than the current MacBook Pro 13”. Plus it runs windows 10

The only benefit over a MacBook Pro is the discrete GPU, but that doesn’t mean it “crushes” with respect to value. Most people will see zero benefit in a discrete GPU.

Razer is clearly superior for GRaphics and Gaming, Macbook doesnt even have a top tier GPU to begin with. Thermals are way off in a Macbook. I wonder what those guys at Cupertino for Billions of Dollars in their pockets are doing in terms of product research?

Simple example. I have 2015 rmbp connected to a 1080p display. Browsing safari with 15 pages open does nothing to it. When I connect a much better speced thinkpad and run same 15 pages in chrome or edge it turns all fans full speed in less than a minute.

Adblock on in all casses.

Specs aren’t everything.

I'm browsing the forums here with my Thinkpad 2-in-1. I have a bunch of tabs open, other applications running in the background and my computer is inaudible. Heck, I even have the opening where the heat exhausts covered--resting on a heated blanket set to low--while I write this is tablet mode.

... Now YouTube videos on the other hand ...

There's epsilon chance I'll use Windows again and zero chance I'll buy anything Razer-branded to run it.

Also, very few need a dGPU on a laptop, and it's the ultimate way to ask for pain. I don't blame Apple for taking them out of most of the lineup. Integrated graphics have come a long way.

Some people don't.

Does not MSFT have higher market capitalization? Windows won.
Nobody cares about the market cap when comparing OSs. It's crap that people use because they're forced to / can't afford the Mac.

But is it able to go to sleep properly? Because my brother just Hackintoshed his Ryzen build and ran into endless nonsense like that, plus the USB didn't even work properly in Windows, so he's able to return it and buy Intel instead. I feel like everyone who uses a Hackintosh conveniently ignores everything seriously broken with it because I've never had success making it like a regular Mac.
