Because enterprise needs so much customization and Windows tries to allow everything, making it terrible?

It’s the same reason Android is terrible. Full of instability, bugs, security issues, and problems.
Wait, Windows 10 is "terrible"? Way to be divorced from reality. :D "Full of instability, bugs, security issues, and problems" - what do you base that on? May have been the case in 2005, definitely not today.

Except I've never had a problem with instability, bugs problems or security issues on both Android or Windows and neither have a lot of people.

Blows me away how many more laptops Apple could sell if they just lowered the price like $200-400, it's still expensive but they'd probably fly off the shelf and their refurbished models would be sold out constantly. Yes they lose some of the special "luxury item" style of Apple but...if they want more money it's out there.

4K monitor on a 13" laptop isn't a pro for me. Ridiculously high resolution for a monitor that size and an unnecessary drain on power. Plus, no Mac OS.
Yeah it is overkill. I love MacOS but Apple just don’t make good enough machines that I can use for work unfortunately. The Nvidia GPU is one of the huge boons for this laptop. I couldn’t stand the tacky RGB though.

Yikes!

What is it with so many laptops having a bizarrely bad keyboard layout?
The right shift key getting a weird treatment is pretty common unfortunately - incidentally, the touch bar on MBPs is also a weird gizmo that gets in the way (the esc touch key on the 13-inch model is always getting hit, which is insanely annoying).

While Apple has almost always had great hardware, and still does, I do wonder if they will ever considering getting out of the computer hardware business and just selling macOS. I know many will dismiss this out of hand (they tried it before and failed), things change and strategies change and I don't see this is as outside the realm of possibilities.

And while most people consider Apple a "hardware" company, and they are...sorta. What's really provided the value that keeps most people hanging on...is the software...the OS.
I'm browsing the forums here with my Thinkpad 2-in-1. I have a bunch of tabs open, other applications running in the background and my computer is inaudible. Heck, I even have the opening where the heat exhausts covered--resting on a heated blanket set to low--while I write this is tablet mode.

... Now YouTube videos on the other hand ...
I have a different model and they key is having it connected to external display with the lid closed.

Right. The last time I even had a BSOD was 2005. It's something I remember well because that BSOD was caused by a bad driver I'd intentionally used. And that was running unupdated Windows XP. Generally when people complain about either Windows or Android it's because they bought the cheapest, bargain-bin equipment they could afford or wanted to buy and expected stellar performance. Then again I've come across my fair share of silly people who'll compare a budget third-world grade Android phone running 5.0 or 5.1 on very low level parts and compare it to an iPhone 8 or higher. There's stupid people everywhere.

In the age of software parity, if I were a film guru, I'd be spending 4-6K on a HP or Dell or other marque Xeon mobile workstation. Who gives a **** about weight and size when it's power you need to crunch though renders and on the fly editing?

Nobody cares about OSs. They care about what software they can run. There was a time when the best software could be found on Macs. Those days are long gone and there no sign that Apple have any ambition to bring them back.
Or be like Quark who sat on their hands way too long and they're a nobody today.

Why would they even compare it to the 15” even if they acknowledge it? Was the 13” not available?

Lenovo should send these guys some Thinkpads to comapre.

I honestly don't get this. If you're running the pro version I think it's pretty decent. I haven't had any display scaling issues for years, I'm mostly using it for science stuff, and keep it all updated. I miss the cool aluminium of the Macbooks but having to use a Thinkpad doesn't feel like a compromise.

Not that I'm a PC guy anyway, but that shift key on the Razer would keep me away no matter how fast or amazing or cheap it was... I mean... holy moly who thought that was OK?

It's a little odd, but it's really not that unusual. The offset shift key placed to the right of the up arrow is a common 80 key compact layout. Really it's not all that big of a jump. If you switch between a regular desktop keyboard and a regular laptop keyboard, you're already reaching for the arrow keys directly below the right shift key instead of below the insert/delete key cluster.

Some 80 key layouts will put a compact shift key to the left of the arrow cluster and an END or Page Down key on the right. I think I'd actually prefer the way the Razer Blade laid it out... though really I'd prefer a much more normal 82 key standard layout.

Did you read the article or did you go straight to the comments after looking at pictures? They explained why they did that.

What is this?

Until High Sierra you could connect to one of your machines via Internet (File Sharing and Screen Sharing) if you've configured your router correctly.
Basically a trimmed version of Team Viewer or Apple Remote Desktop integrated in macOS.
Setting it up was pretty easy because it's connected to your apple ID.

I kept looking at the space key, thinking, what am I looking for, why is this guy complaining.

Then I noticed the shift key, and realized I read your post wrong.

What a bizarre design, I guess they wanted full size keys for the arrows and that was the trade-off they made.

Having it smaller wouldn't be a problem for me (as a UK Keyboard user I'm used to having one shift key smaller than the other as we have an extra key between the left shift and Z), but the positioning of it is awful and I'd much rather have half height up and down keys with the shift key above them (like 95% of other laptop keyboards!)

Oh, yeah. I remember that. I don't think I used it much if at all. In all honesty, I usually find third-party software to do that kind of stuff better than OEM developed software, since it's usually the focus of the third-party app developers.

Agreed but for me it just worked. I could easily check on my macs in the studio if I wasn't around.
(Like a uploading deliveries to a client from home without having to wait in the studio)

The Razor Blade Steath looks pretty good. Great features. Now if only it didn’t run the abomination called Windows 10.

Just a guess though: you haven't really used windows in years and are just claiming crap you don't know anything about. At least Windows 10 doesn't have that stale taste to it that Mac OS X does. I don't think it makes any sense at the moment to invest in Macs, considering that OS X hasn't been receiving any notable updates in about 4 years. It's pretty clear that the desktop OS is on its way out. With the enormously high prices for Apple hardware, investing in Macs is like investing in Blackberry OS hardware.

Windows 10 is excellent and a very different beast compared to the Windows 10 that launched in 2015.

couldn't agree more. I was a member of the "Windows is terrible" crowd for years although I had never really bothered looking at it more closely. This year, when I had to make a choice between the iMac Pro and the Studio 2, I went iMac Pro first, only to return it a day later - it's just a behemoth of a machine with massive bezels and an unexplainable underbelly. Plus OS X is just STALE. It looks old fashioned. Sure, pretty icons and tons of emojis, but if you want a modern, future-proof OS you'll have to actually spend some time with Windows 10 before dismissing it completely.

It's funny how much traction Windows 10 got after it was released(especially from the gaming community but now it starts to dominate Enterprise as well)
As great as MacOS supposedly is it wasn't able to at least slightly turn things around when Microsoft made radical and controversial changes with Windows 10.
Now it's too late. As Windows continues to improve the MacOS is the greatest background noise becomes more and more amusing.

And as for the Shift key, Apple does that too on the French Canadian keyboard, but it's the Left-Shift.

So the MAC comes out on top lol
