I would suspect that more people tuned in to watch Apple's iPhone 6 show, than all of Samsung's "wacky" keynotes combined.

Whilst Apple's stream was far from perfect, but it was the content that mattered and IMO the delivery of that content was (and pretty much always is) masterful and Samsung would be better of spending money on learning how to do impressive keynotes, than putting together these childish ads.

The numbers at the end of the year/fiscal quarter won't lie, the i6 will still be the world's best selling smartphone.

You are right. Apple stream was the correct way. Steve Jobs said that. If it would have been faster then you couldn't use it properly because of your nose. I don't want a faster or better stream!! That's for non elegant samsung fanboys!!

Seriously, I watched the whole stream on my mac. Had to refresh about 3 times due to heavy traffic. NOT a problem. Took a total of 3 clicks, maybe 2 seconds.

Really? Looks like you were the only one who was that lucky. So you also didn't have the chinese voiceover? The music from the venue overlaid with a second music stream? The truck schedule title card with the color bars?

I think, for me, the stream failed about a hundred times within the first hour, then it got better. And no, hundred is no exaggeration. I hit the "Play" button, then I got 5 seconds of Tim Cook or Phil Schiller (with chinese translation), and then I got the Apple TV error screen. Hit the "Menu" button on the remote to go back. Play button again. 5 seconds of Schiller and Chinese Lady. Done again. Rinse and repeat.

Twice, the whole thing even crashed my Apple TV. So yes, these ads may not be funny, but Apple deserves it. And whoever was responsible for the stream should be fired.

What I took away from that was that Samsung owners watch youtube videos of their favorite superhero's while they sketch the cosplay girl of their dreams that they'll never have in reality. I prefer my products have real soul and my women to just be real thank you very much!

I know really, these nerds out nerded The Big Bang Theory nerds ten fold. I could not imagine drawing a female role playing figure while picking your nose is a priority to most of the world. These ads look improvised, shoddy, mis-fired and revealing of how idea envy Samsung really is.

Seriously, you need better, faster internet. I have a mere 20mbps internet speed and streamed it live in 1080p, played it on podcasts in 1080p no problem. Was watching it in 1080p on my iPhone using T-Mobiles network, no problems there either.

I have 50MBit/s VDSL with Deutsche Telekom here in Germany and all other Apple supplied download run smoothly.

I also additionally tried different servers across the globe by using VPNs eventually, the US American VPN gave me better performance for half a minute than going without VPN.

Yet, after 15-20 mins of trying I was fed up.

Saddest comment ever.
Because I'm the only one saying that their keynotes are marketing?
Because I'm interested in seeing what my next iPhone will have?
Or because I'm the only one who put it exactly this way? Come on, as soon as you watch a keynote, you watch marketing. I for one am aware of that and can express that in such a way. Grow up, not all marketing is bad or evil, especially when they put on a good show, technical issues aside.

Bold: Erm..., no it's not, WWDC 2014 was flawless, at least for me, not a single hick up in that stream.

But, I do agree this one was a complete F-up.
Hmm, well the stream did cut out for me twice, but otherwise it was stable, especially compared to this week's event.
Something that's always going wrong is the quality drops you get as you watch it.
The resolution gets smaller, the picture gets blurry as you try to read things in screenshots that are presented across 50-70% of the viewing area.

Apple does not SELL live streams so please get over it!

Out of curiosity: What do you actually think where the money for this event came from? Where did they get the money to rent the Flint center and build that huge tent? Where did they get the money for the production of the video material presented there? Who actually paid for all of that?

I think that whoever gave Apple that money can expect a certain level of quality on par with the quality that is expected from Apple products.

I'm not sure Samsung can grasp this but here it is... when you purchase something from a company, you are identifying with that company on some level. Generally people who purchase from Apple, acquire or expect to have some level of social association with Apple. The Apple persona is smart, trendy, young, etc. Maybe a bit cocky, but generally trying to help others.

The Samsung persona is sort of like that kid in high school that is constantly trying to be like the other cool kids and is loud and obnoxious. Nobody really likes him, except the other people who don't fit in with the hip and socially adjusted crowd. This kid cheats on all his tests and claims he can perform feats of athletics and sexual prowess beyond anyone else's expectations.

But really, he's just a sore loser. A sad, sad, sad waste of a being.

Now... who would you want to associate with?

Seriously? I don't identify with any of the companies I buy from. I buy what works. I couldn't care less about the company, unless they are actively supporting causes I dislike, in which case I'd buy from somebody else. The last thing I'd ever want is to be associated with the brand of smartphone or laptop I have.

The adolescent cultishness around technology products is amusing to watch.

So they're making fun of an extremely popular live video feed for having technical glitches? When is Samsung's huge live keynote event exactly?

To me Samsung's ad campaign comes off a lot like Microsoft's anti-iPad Surface ads (thankfully I haven't seen many of the latter lately); they just give the impression that they have so little confidence in their product's merits that they need to bash the competition instead, rather than showing what they've really good.

I've never once responded to a negative advertising campaign (except to bash whoever is producing it); Samsung phones could be masterpieces and I wouldn't buy them thanks to their advertising. That probably makes me a marketing company's worst demographic, as I respond negatively to negative advertising, and ignore any advert that lacks the information I need to make a decision ;)

I happen to enjoy these for a few grins if nothing else. I like coming here and enjoying these threads for the additional grins by Apple homers who can't even laugh at themselves and take these commercials so personally. Lol. :D

Seriously lol, I can't figure out why everyone takes this stuff so serious. It's a phone, not your mother.

Even as a self-professed Apple Fanboy, I fully agree. I might call myself a fan now, but I am not a fan of an image, but of bits and pieces of technology that I like. My allegiance could change tomorrow, if company XYZ releases something that I think is awesome. My whole apartment was once filled with Sony products (I even owned an Aibo), because Sony created products I liked - not because I somehow loved Sony's mission statement. Nowadays I own exactly one minor item from Sony - that's it.

And if someone really wants to talk about the Apple persona and the Samsung persona, claiming that the Samsung persona is "like that kid in high school that is constantly trying to be like the other cool kids and is loud and obnoxious", then I'd just like to remind you of this guy - the guy once chosen by Apple be the personification or incarnation of an Apple product:

I like Apple products, but there really is nothing in the "Apple persona" that I want to be associated with.

Jealous kids & they'll never change.

Capitalizing on Apple's much-talked about and publicized special event yesterday, Samsung has released a series of new web ads (via Engadget) poking fun at the live stream's struggles, the iPhone 6 getting a screen size upgrade, the Apple Watch and more. All six ads can be seen in the video playlist below.

YouTube: video
All of the ads feature two actors dressed similar to Apple Geniuses in an environment that looks like the back area of an Apple Store. The first ad notes how the live stream for Apple's event intermittently cut out for some viewers while also experiencing odd production issues, like two songs playing over each other or a Chinese translator having her audio played over the keynote.

The second ad features the two eagerly anticipating "something groundbreaking" from the keynote until the larger-screened iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are unveiled, which has them excited until they compare it to large-screened Android phones. Another ad points out that the Samsung Gear S doesn't require a phone for all of its features, like the Apple Watch. The Samsung Gear S will launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 this fall.

The rest of the ads continue*Samsung's effort to differentiate its Galaxy devices from the new iPhones, pointing out its Fast Charging Mode, Multi Window multitasking and the Galaxy Note's S Pen stylus.

Samsung often releases ads capitalizing on moves Apple makes with its iPhone line, most famously releasing a series of ads of people waiting in line for the latest iPhone while enviously looking at Galaxy devices.

I find some apple bashing commercials to be funny or clever, but these are just bad. Nothing funny about them. Seem really lazy to me. Good job samsung

Lazy?

They produce 6 spots within 24 hours including writing, casting, producing, post production, approvals and get them up on the web - lazy?

I think it's rather the opposite. You might not care for the content - but it's pretty impressive to be THAT responsive and quick.

I love Apple, but Samsung's ads poking fun at Apple employees and most of it's customer base are spot on.

Well at least people here are simply angry about this ad, which is a refreshing change from Appleinsider, where they are as usual foaming at the mouth like rabid dogs.

If I was Samsung, my next ad would be targeted at thin skinned Apple cultists just to see the meltdown over there.

The stream was a farse, a really embarassing experience for Apple.

So for once, I'm sort of happy Samsung is so juvenile with their ads. But beyond that, they aren't even funny. Apple's I am a PC ads was a bad choice as well, but at least they had the occasional funny joke in them,

I find the Samsung advertising to be quite good - and I feel it's somewhat of a thorn in Apple's side. If there's one thing missing from the Jobs era, it's their advertising. I think it's something he took incredibly seriously and was very aware of the power they have. And the worst part is it's working for Samsung.

I'd love to see them start with a campaign targeting tech specs and half baked features. People walking out of an Apple Store with a new Mac just walked out of the PC market for good. They need to do the same for Android. It's like PC/Mac all over again.

Too bad apple doesn't make fun of their competitors anymore. It would have been equally funny if they did one showing all the Samsung customers stalking apple users instead of using their phones! :D

For all the class that everyone here claims Apple to have, this thread proves that their fan base has none of it. The insults to Samsung in this thread are downright embarrassing.
