Samedung stylus user: dang! Where did I put that stylus?

Samedung stylus user ten years later: I remember you, dum stylus! Dang! Where is that old useless note again?

You may not like these ads. But they are far more clever than someone who resorts to using something like "Samedung." You seriously can't get your point across without resorting to that?

Apple big reveal went soo wrong :(
I gotta say I got so frustrated watching key not with at lease 10 drop outs, other language talking over english, replaying from last paused but wasn't even last location, total fail on apple part I'm sure few people gonna be fired.

LOL i do love this site sometimes makes my day, if you really think the majority wont buy android phones now because apple finally increased the screen size you are wrong. Sure people will move to iphones, but not the whole world as its put, I have had Samsung phones since the Omnia and i do like them no question, lately less so because like apple its just small incremental upgrades, but being a dev on XDA im pretty sure there are 5 million members who wont be switching for a start.

I have the mega so no other screen suits me, but ill give you a few reasons why i wouldnt switch. IOS is not open enough for ME (its perfectly good os no argument) A smart phone without TASKER is well not so smart (again for my useage), Xposed Framework is a thing of beauty bringing unity across different versions of the os. And i have a lot invested in the ecosystem, so why change?

Samsung and Apple are key players that push each other which is good for everyone, and with other companies coming up through the ranks, i.e LG, ONEPLUS and the chinese players then ultimately we will all benefit, end of.

Another reason i wouldn't switch personally, is the cost vs what you get for your money in tech terms. My MID Range galaxy mega came with a big hd display, ac wifi, LTE, decent camera, decent processor, huge battery, expandable memory, 1.5gb ram and cost £390 new on release day. A Oneplus one 64gb model with the best tech (worst customer support mind) is only £290. I dont mind paying a bit for all the work that goes into it but im not paying a huge margin just to say i own an apple product especially when some parts of the phone could do with being upgraded (battery and ram). However when it comes to macbooks thats a different story!

So tell me again why Stylus are such a great selling product for iPhone/iPad users?

And why Apple sells stylus within their stores?

I never understood the desire for a stylus on iPhones/iPads. The Note series aren't just touchscreens, they are actual Wacom digitizers. So a stylus is hugely important for things like drawing. iOS devices can fake it with styli that have the pressure levels built into the pen instead of the screen, but its not as good.

In all honesty, is this all they can think if?

But you know what? Apple use to do the same **** with Mac and PC.

What the hell? These ads don't even make the Note 4 look good...especially if you know nothing of phones.

Stupid video but yes, the streaming event was amateur at best - the phone was basically a copy of the bigger androids which is fine. The worst part is the software - bigger screens, faster processors and yet somehow we're still only getting 4 icons across a considerably larger screen with the exact same "layout" as every other version of IOS and phone that Apple has brought to market.

You can use a stylus, but you do not have to. That's the point.

You don't have to with the note either.

Me either - but I don't use my tablet to draw or "write" on or other types of apps that benefit from having a stylus. Also - not that it's a "booming" market - but I would also guess that those that might not have dexterity in their hands for whatever reason and be able to type could use one.

But they are wildly popular...

The biggest failure here by Samsung is that they fail to realize that even the most loyal Apple users still have a need to buy from other brands. Whether its appliances, TV's, software or other. By them doing stuff like this, it ends up hurting their other divisions.

I am seriously being turned off by the brand. It doesn't insult me, and I'm as "Apple" as you can find. But geez... This is how they try and attract customers?

Well, that’s the play isn’t it?

Samsung can try to divert potential or flip existing Apple customers by using an "attack style" campaign that [attempts] to paint the product as inferior, the users as targets of ridicule, etc., but could wind up creating stronger brand retention in existing Apple phone/tablet users while also losing share in their other consumer electronic markets because [right or wrong] they feel insulted.

It would be interesting (but of course totally impossible) to see a multi month campaign for Samsung, by an notable agency (TBWA\C\D, etc.) that approached things in a totally different voice, and how that effected their financials (mostly in the US).

If the Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6 never released specs, if you give both phones to a regular Joe Schmoe, or even a tech geek for that matter, no one in their right mind would be able to tell a major difference in performance. Let alone say "actually I can feel that the S5 has 4x the RAM as the iPhone."

By claiming to tell the difference in performance of two powerful cellphones is like saying you can watch the Olympics without any timer or replay and declare that Runner 1 definitely beat Runner 2 by .0002 seconds in the 100 meter race.

Yeah, at the end of the day, I think we’re starting to peak in terms of specs. Now with Apple giving consumers an option in the “big phone” market, there’s even less differentiation across products when the average consumer is standing in a store. “I want a big phone” now has an answer from Apple, though it may still be the more expensive option in a market that’s also very driven by price.

well, whether we like it or not we owe Apple ... that's the problem here, everybody wants to 1up apple in terms of tech specs but the implementation is half-baked(meaning only a few embraced it) ... but now that apple is coming into scene, that's the story ...

The embracement of technology is very subjective to the area of the world we're on about. As I've mentioned before, I'm surprised Apple took so long introducing NFC payments since my area has (mostly) had NFC capability for a while now. However in places like the US who still use magnetic strips on their cash cards, its a rarity and will take a big brand like Apple to get it going.

But there is a flip side. Apple have wholeheartedly embraced the cloud, perfectly fine for areas with great internet and 3G/4G. But not very good at all for my area where 3G coverage is still very patchy and internet in general is kind of slow (still can't get 1Mb/s on my home broadband). So when you have people on this forum insisting on how awesome the Apple ecosystem is, its useless in my area since internet is slow and reliable. Thus half-baked since you can't even manage files locally on an iPhone.

Swings and roundabouts. You can't just shun the rest of the industry for having half-baked implementation when it differs dramatically across the globe.

So I'll say again, I'm dissapointed Apple didn't see the potential in NFC sooner. And now that they finally have, what they've done is pretty much exactly what the rest of the industry have done, nothing different. Just late.

Nerds don't matter

How many of the millions of iPhone owners had nothing better to do or even knew that Apple was streaming this event? An artist unveils a masterpiece and all you can say is the curtain got stuck during the unveiling so boo. Samsung has had big screens for a couple of years, I know people that have big houses those house don't impress me because they are cheaply made and ugly has hell but maybe size is more important to some than quality. How ofter do you find your phone in a pile of other phones when your need to charge it? This is a shoddy, made in haste group of commercials and Sammy should be embarrassed rather than proud of these childish ads. Shamsung you lose.

The ads with Fast Charging and the big screen are hilarious. It really doesn't take a genius either lol. I love how so many users feel so offended too.

The ad reminds me of the losing politician who makes an attack an that does nothing more than ensure voters remember the name of his opponent.

The ads cost money to produce. It cost them nothing to post on their website. Their intention in doing so - is to make them go viral via news sites and social networking.

Having about the same amount of time in Advertising, Marketing and PR, I can assure you of that :)

Um, yeah, I get that. But the notion that they are "not ads" and did not cost money is completely false.

Samedung stylus user: dang! Where did I put that stylus?

Well for one, the Note 4 alerts you when you haven't put the spen back but can you copy and paste multiple images/text to create documents on the iPhone? How about hand write a new contacts information and have the phone pull the information into your contacts for you? I could go on but if you took the time to know what it does you'd realize it is really functional.

Plus, you do know that the Note series made the "phablet" more mainstream, right? Thus why there is an iPhone 6 Plus.

Um, yeah, I get that. But the notion that they are "not ads" and did not cost money is completely false.

They are not PAID ads. They are not going to be on television. Or other places where they would PAY for placement. They are posted on their youtube channel. I never suggested the ads didn't cost money to produce. And quite frankly - if nothing else, I'm impressed that they put all those together and got them past post-production in such a short time.

Honestly, I don't experience those issues with my ipads and iphones. So, i'm not sure why you're getting it.

Because it's a problem with limited amounts of memory? You're recommended to switch off background updating to make it less of a problem. I'm not sure why you're not getting it, considering it's a documented issue. Do you close apps frequently or prevent some background updating?
