Many publications favorably reviewed the Note 8 prior to its launch, agreeing that the lack of an explosive battery made Samsung's newest device a step up from the Note 7.
That's pretty funny.

Using dongles as a talking point is like complaining that we have to buy lightning cables to replace our 30-pin chargers in 2013.

Ten years of iPhone and seven years of Samsung ads mocking it. Apple just sold 47 million iPhones the past quarter before the iPhone X launched. Doesn't seem to matter that much. Maybe Samsung should've been making ads mocking Xiaomi instead.

The reason why I like Apple Ads are because they do not focus or bash the completion. They focus on what they do well. They never compare to others. Branding is everything and at its best.

Apple focuses on their brand only. If you were running a car ad campaign, you wouldn’t want to focus on what that brand is doing. You’d focus on your product and that’s it. There will be worst products out there and there will be better products too. The key is to not focus on what your competitors are doing. Especially in a television spot where millions are watching.

This goes too you to Microsoft.

can someone explain how writing down a contact is much better than typing it in?

- you need two hands
- you need a stylus
- looks wildly uncomfortable to write without some palm rest
- unless there's some "google magic" going on, you can't search for that contact
- looks unorganized
- much slower to write vs typing

And those DISGUSTING touch-lights underneath the screen! Is that a phone or a billboard!

I think part of the problem with these kinds of adverts, though I’m sure they might sway some people. The biggest problem they have is as far as I’m concerned, the operating system.

Samsung have produced some hardware I’ve liked over the years, I’ve even owned a couple as a second device and a couple of times when I made short lived attempts at switching from Apple.

But if you’re heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem, there’s probably not a huge chance for most jumping ship to Android. I’ve nothing really against Android, there’s a lot I like about it. Unfortunately there’s enough I don’t like about it still that prevents me from having it as my daily driver.

Well they have a point I guess, although the majority of users probably couldn’t care less about a stylus.

A stylus would be amazing on iOS for selecting text on an iPhone - especially in things like notes and Pages, in a PDF, or even just selecting text in safari.

The text selection in iOS hasn't changed or improved since 2008. It is wildly inaccurate and if you try to select more than one word it converts to selecting a paragraph, and then will jump up and down the entire page trying to select the entire document when all you wanted was one sentence.

A stylus would solve that very annoying problem - even if it were sold as an optional extra.

I find the text situation has improved quite a bit when you use 3D Touch on the keyboard.

really shows a lot of areas where Apple were a step behind. Things like water proofing, MicroSD expandable storage, larger display sizes etc - These are not areas where Apple came in later and did it better, they just came in late.
I don't think Apple would ever consider MicroSD expandable storage, it's slower than onboard flash. As for waterproofing - there's lots of videos on Youtube showing the 6s held up when dropped in water. Kind of like how the original Apple Watch is essentially water proof but isn't advertised in that regard.

Coke never mentions Pepsi in their ads.

Someone tell Samsung that iPhones have been water resistant for at least 2 years formally (and performed well before being touted as such). What does years ago or 2007 matter now exactly?

And cue 2018 or 2019 when Samsung removes the 3.5 jack as well to have room to make the chin smaller or pack more in. It wont be there forever.

These videos clearly dont help them sell phones though by the numbers and just make them sound desperate having to mock others rather than focus on their own product strengths and not talk about another company.

But hey at least our phones dont explode and can take them on planes

Samsung today posted a new video on its YouTube channel called "Samsung Galaxy: Growing Up," which follows the life of a young man as he purchases Apple devices over the course of ten years, and then decides to switch sides to Samsung on the eve of the iPhone X launch. The 1-minute commercial features the song "I'm Moving On" by Chyvonne Scott.

The video begins at the iPhone launch in 2007, and subsequent years show the main character facing storage issues when taking a photo and waiting in long lines under poor weather conditions for the latest iPhone. At one point, he drops his iPhone in water and has to place it in a bowl of rice, while his girlfriend's Samsung device continues to function.

Other points made in the ad center around the iPhone's lack of stylus support, as well as its need for dongles after the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack in the iPhone 7. The ad ends with the character's decision to turn off his iPhone and purchase a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, and he eventually walks past a line of people waiting for the iPhone X -- including a guy with a notch-like haircut -- without joining them.

The latest Samsung smartphone is the Galaxy Note 8, which launched in September with dual rear cameras, a 6.3-inch AMOLED 'Infinity Display', and a new and enhanced S Pen with improved pressure sensitivity. Many publications favorably reviewed the Note 8 prior to its launch, agreeing that the lack of an explosive battery made Samsung's newest device a step up from the Note 7.
