What does admitting that have to do with my post that you responded to.. of course apple is a latecomer, how could I even deny that if I wanted to?

The post that you quoted was asking how is their marketing campaign a success if they're losing money and sales. Would you like to answer that and not invent strawman arguments?
What strawman arguments please? My argument is that Samsung almost automatically will lose market share and profit margin in this kind of market situation, regardless of this campain. There is just no inevitable causality... It's a big oversimplification to argue "Samsung is losing money and sales = this ad campaing did not work".
And these campains are not directed at you or me as "hardcore" apple users, but at the people who think that Apple products are nothing special but overpriced stuff in a shiny packaging anyway.

Please Apple defenders, Lets not pretend that the PC vs Mac ads were not as annoying and insulting to windows owners. They had a fat nerdy stuffy businessman with glasses, making him appear as a bumbling idiot representing PC and the snarky, fake humble Apple know it all who goes everything right.

Yea, that's classy.

At the time of those ads running, I was a Windows user, and didn't own ANYTHING Apple, and yet I thought they were funny, because they talked about real problems that Windows users have to face.

I don't recall the focus of those ads being about the users of PC's and how Sheepish and unintelligent the USERS were.

Uh, the Actors used represented more than just the machines, they also represented the users. So yea, it was insulting.

Why are you so grumpy, Samsung? Apple even mentioned you in their keynote:

Speed in taking a picture is pretty important to a camera, especially speed to focus.. People where wondering how come the S5 with was slower to focus when it supposedly had AF? Still a mystery. Probably some software sluggishess; there is so much software bloat on Samsung phones.

Ask any real photographer. So, is white balance, accurate color reproduction and low light performance. All of those have the 5s being a better camera than the S5 which came out 7 months later.

Not quite sure why Samsung has so much difficulty putting a a top notch camera in their phones since their compact cameras aren't bad at all. Sony has the best compacts though.

Exactly! I got young kids. I need the camera to function fast so that I can get those shots when they are available, not when the camera app on my android phone feels like it is ready to take it. Ahhhh, that precious moment was lost 10 secs ago when she stopped doing "insert whatever the kid was doing that you wanted a picture of here".

My iP5 takes decent pics and video. Works well enough for my needs and picture quality to send to family and relatives.

I don't remember anyone at Apple saying that the bigger size was a new idea.
And I had to laugh about the person in the video using the stylus. Looks very relaxed...

I've never had a problem with my S4 and the camera app being slow, buggy or not taking amazing pictures. Even many rivaling my iPhone. I can't speak the the S5 however.

here is the thing

We by Apple not because of WHAT they offer but WHY they offer it. Samsung wishes they were apart of the thought process for everybody who is going to buy an iPhone 6 and everybody who has bought into the Apple Universe. I could not care... make your commercials and silly photoshops. Your product still sucks ass.

At the time of those ads running, I was a Windows user, and didn't own ANYTHING Apple, and yet I thought they were funny, because they talked about real problems that Windows users have to face.
And you = everyone? I'm Apple user since 2002/03 and I did not really like the ads back then, as many of my friends using Windows.

If I were to buy such a big phone I would prefer a proper pen than reachability, seems you can do many things w it and is a better feature than reachability. (I have never owned an android phone.)

You do need two hands when having a pen, unless you phone is levitating or on a table (a bit uncomfortable).

Not really... One was a "PC", the other was a "MAC". Its like saying the Cortana ads represent the users. One's "Siri", the other is "Cortana".

Sorry Samsung, the REAL next big thing is here a month earlier than the wannabe. Arrogantly stating that your phone is "the next big thing" and then telling us that it will be coming one month later than the thing you're trying to berate?

Fail. Fail. Fail. Failllllll.

What a cheesy, crass advert - this company truly have ZERO class or subtlety whatsoever."

Should have said "The next best thing is here"

Even more damming than those pics of phones were the internal Samsung emails that essentially said we have to copy apple and be more like apple. Then the software and apps directly imitating the look and feel of iOS. No other company went so far to copy apple. Having said that I want to thank Samsung. Without them we would likely still be using 3.5" iPhones.

Haha...
That's the only part of that commercial that rang true. The weak ass stylus did NOT do it for me... a company that lost their lawsuit in their OWN country & then got cracked with a preliminary judgement of a billion dollars for copying feigning ANY kind of issue with someone else having feature overlap did NOT do it for me...
The larger screen thing? I gotta begrudgingly give to them. One of only 2 Android phones I've ever owned was a Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. I felt the 4.65" screen (gently curved) was perfect!
Cannot wait to get my 4.7" iPhone 6!

Exactly! That's why I love Apple.
But you have a distinct lack of awareness regarding Apple history. It's Apple themselves that began using this technique on Microsoft years before the iPhone existed.

Apple isn't who they pretend to be.

It isn't a bad ad, its just not one that makes me want a galaxy note. They make it look good and all but (to me) they make themselves come across as more attacking others rather than playfully poking fun that apple copied them this time.

Indeed. Their ads might make me not want an iPhone but that isn't translate to my definitely getting a Samsung anything. I could trade my iPhone for a windows phone for example

And in that minute, Apple sold 2,777 iPhones

And during that 1 minute commercial, Apple sold approximately 2,778 iPhones.
;)

(if my math is right: 4 million phones in 24 hours ÷ 1,440 minutes in 24 hours)

Mac vs PC. Enough said.

All companies do when they are trying sway people from what is popular. From food to kitty litter. They all bash each other.

Don't think apple is above that.

They are NOTHING alike and you know it. The tone alone is miles apart.

Ask a marketing expert if those ads are the same and they'll laugh at you long and hard; that's how much they are dissimilar.

Strange, I see all those Android fans just come out of the woodwork on Apple forums ever single launch (and just before).

Apple isn't who they pretend to be.

Again, ask a marketing expert if that's true that they are the same if you dare; they will pointedly tell you that NO they aren'T the same at all. I'm a bit of tired of this trope when it doesn't match reality at all.

I never had a problem with them just like I have no problem with Samsung's now. Nothing against you (at all, sincerely as I am not saying you ARE) but I just use the right tool for the right job that works best for me without concern over advertising or what my neighbor prefers. Just glad there are choices for us all!

SS ahead of it's time in 2011?!?!?!

Uh, no, it was Apple who was ahead of its time a whole 4 years prior to SS's claim of 2011 and since then (just like everything else APPL does) it's APPLE'S competition that has been doing the imitating—not the other way around. Go ahead and Google the words "smartphones before iPhone" and check out all the photos of what the "smartphone" looked like before Apple announced the iPhone. Yeah, I know what you're going to say but... the ONLY reason why there are "iWatches" out there is because of all the rumors regarding Apple making a watch. All Apple needs to do is file a patent and the world jumps to it's feet to beat them to market and then they claim that Apple is the one doing the imitating.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that they are trying to lure iPhone users to their Galaxy phones but rather keep their present customers who only wanted a larger screen from jumping ship and going to Apple. This being the case, I don't think that they are concerned about insulting iPhone users because the odds of them leaving aren't very great due to Apple's extremely high satisfaction numbers.

That's my take as well. The side effect though is, if any other Apple users are like me, we've developed a negative feeling toward the Samsung BRAND and have stopped buying Samsung televisions and appliances.

Good man :) - I like your attitude.

I agree with a fellow user who said that the Mac vs PC ads were different. As a Windows user it felt like I had written a letter to them listing my problems with Windows. It spoke to me.

Samsung does not speak to me at all with these ads. You thought of that first? Congratulations! They are attacking for playing catch up when they should address iPhone user issues. Microsoft's ads against Siri would be a much better comparison as there are things Cortana does that make me want Siri to do those things. Am I fine without it? Yes but it makes that look appealing.

Why don't we point to the Apple Watch rumors right around the time Samsung announced the Gear?

I did not like them because I think you don't have to make fun of your competitor to advertise your own product, just build a quality product and let it speak for itself.
