I will personally buy everyone on here an iMac if that happens.

Ya know, if you ignore Jim Dalrymple's "Yep", I would have rated Sept Macs & Oct iPhones as "Highly Likely".. more so than the other way around.

So.. is that you, Jim? :D

Obviously you haven't done much pc gaming. Use the native resolution of your monitor or the game will look poo. 720p is for TV's. Downscaling is baaad.... 720p on a computer monitor is tragic.

Yes you can play modern games in Window Mode and they aren't downscaled.

So now we have 10.8.1, can we expect the silent refresh of the iMac range as early next Tuesday? (which was suggested by some blogs by the way)

do you have some links to these blogs. I hope they are right, but I doubt it :)

Well I can't see any info depicting an update next week here. But even though October feels like the most probable date there's always a slight chance it can come sooner. I'm hoping anyway :)

At least I think it's pointless linking the iMac release with the 12th of september unconfirmed event. The event will probably have nothing to do with the iMac and an iMac can come out before or likely after.

Unless the imac has a redesign it shouldn't be released with an event. It will probably be a press release. iOS devices get the most of the media attention.

Well, if the iMac were to be given a silent refresh, then Apple won't be mentioning it in its next event which is supposedly to be held on 12th September. If this is the case, the iMac would probably have the "new" logo in the Apple Online Store.

If the iMacs were given a major update or an upgrade, then Apple would be talking bout it in one of its event.

Basically, Apple will only present new devices which have been given major changes in terms of hardware/software.

Personally, it is likely for Apple to launch a new 2012 iMac as it is already overdue. Tim Cook only mentioned that the Mac Pro will be receiving update in 2013, and not the iMac. So, a 2012 imac is a possibility.

The question is, when is it going live to the public?

I think it will be released in September now but it could be released in October too I just have a better feeling about September. Whatever it is it better be a redesign considering how long we've had to wait.

If it's released after 9/21, it will be very remiss of Apple to exclude educational buyers from the back to school promotion. Catching at straws perhaps but I am hopeful

Hey peeps,

This probably means nothing but I've just noticed that two out of the four imac models on the apple store (UK) now say 'Dispatched: 1-2 business days' as opposed to 'in stock'...

Alas not, I fear. Merely due to bank holiday

We've had holidays before yet nothing changed on the websites. This time it has. I think it's a sign. I think iMac are running low for a reason. I still think it'd could be sometime next month. At least I hope so.

500 days

Brand new here so be kind, it's probably been said a thousand times in a thousand threads but by my count 21st september 2012 the day the iphone is due to ship (if the macrumors come true) would be exactly 500 days since the last imac update. I draw no conclusions, only the tiniest glimmer of hope to those like me who need a new imac.

As far as I can see, that blog is just repeating stuff the guy has read on here. He makes a leap that the new MBPro will not appear until after 10.8.1 because of the battery life issues and he repeats the same old rumour about the demise of the optical drive. But, there's nothing new and nothing that suggests any date apart from 'by the end of the year.'

The version I read prior to the public release of 10.8.1, linked the event with a release of the new iMac and 13" rMBP. I grant you, reading that page NOW doesn't make that subtle connection but perhaps as you say it's just someone like us consolidating rumours from sites such as these. I am hoping we see some action sooner rather than later because I have been soldiering on without a desktop since April and the MBA just won't cut the mustard in certain things I need...

More importantly it's the day the back to school promotion finishes so here's hoping the release of a new iMac falls inside this window

So, Sept 4th unlikely launch date given US labour day holiday, but makes 11th Sept most likely launch date (or even more likely wait until 12th Sept and give a quiet press release refresh alongside the razzmatazz of the new iPhone). As some people predicted several weeks ago to great ridicule on these boards...
