New Siri Waitlist

I just got New Siri on my iPhone 17PM some time this morning (Saturday) while I was asleep. Before I went to bed last night/this morning at about 3:30 am Pacific Time, I checked and found I was still on the Siri waiting list, so I was finally approved (after getting on the list last Monday) some time between that and today around 1pm when I checked again.

Not at all, I got it and it’s still doing index. Wife got access within two hours of install of the beta two days ago and she is still indexing. Another test account I have the phone finished indexing and it’s still waiting 1 day later

What iPhone do y’all have? I still got in a day after with my 15 pro

why is everyone posting / complaining that their phones are still indexing when apple has said to developers and some media people that the initial index could take a over a week? potentially 2 weeks, remembering that previous iOS updates they often did too, but they didn't tell you. This change is more to stop users from crying that their battery life on a new os sucks for the first week. ( well it won't stop most people.. but it will stop a few )

I didn’t install the developer beta on my iPhone 17 Pro until Tuesday morning and immediately joined the waitlist, I got the notification on Thursday that Siri AI had been downloaded while I was at work at around 3 PM Eastern.

When I got home I installed the developer beta on my M2 iPad Pro and it downloaded and was available right after the developer beta installation completed.

For what it’s worth, my iPhone is still indexing, that hasn’t seemed to matter for me at all in terms of being able to use Siri AI though I’m not pushing it too much yet with a bunch of personal requests, and I do subscribe to iCloud+ through the Apple One family plan that’s associated with my account.

I figured it wouldn’t be wise to try and start to form an opinion on how well that does and doesn’t work at this point in the process while it’s still indexing, and yes I did try a hard restart to see if it was a bug, and it didn’t seem to make a difference. It doesn’t feel like it’s hindered my ability use the phone and search for things as I always had prior to Siri AI.

I’ll start pushing it more when it’s done indexing.

It doesn’t have to make sense to you. Advanced AI models have been in the wild for a while now yet Apple announces something that even some developers can’t access. I understand you need to be argumentative, but that’s my opinion.
 
iPP m4 16GB: updated right after keynote. Got Siri within an hour but indexing took about 48 hours, with device mainly unused and plugged in.

17PM: updated Tuesday after reading reviews. Siri already approved, but still indexing. Plugged in only overnight. On wifi for 95% of the day.

I also received access to Siri when indexing completed. So far the new Siri is just as much of a disappointment as the previous Siri. Most requests other than simple task requests result in a reply of some type of problem occurred or nothing happens after the request. Even if the request is presented as being done nothing happened. I know it is early in the Beta stage but Apple has a lot of work to do by September. I was hoping for something approaching what Android users have enjoyed for years. I will be patient with a few months to go to provide feedback and hope for improvement.

I’m not being argumentative I’m pointing out hard cold facts. I assume you have never worked on large scale deployments with servers before or you would understand the need. You do also know that every single LLM out there does testing thing the same way - limited numbers in - test- allow more in test- and so on until full launch
Sadly the issue with actual developers not getting access is an issue. Honestly I wish Apple restricted this beta and maybe a few more to actual developers that have apps in The App Store. So us developers can get faster access to the features we test and not have to wait due to the kiddies who just have to play with stuff early

A couple of points:

1) Indexing and getting access to the new Siri aren't related.

2) Many people on this beta, including me, are not developers. Plus, it doesn't really matter if some developers have to wait a week or so before having access to the new Siri - iOS 27 won't go live for another 3 months or so. They can spend the time, if desperate to get started, just making sure their existing apps run on iOS 27 😁

Don't get your hopes up. The new Siri has been a major disappointment for me. Basic tasks that previous Siri handled with ease now require extra steps or commands are unrecognized. I realize it's a beta, but this is stuff that should've been fixed in internal testing.

Can you give an example of something that took extra steps

I tried the macOS workaround on my Mac, but it doesn't work and always responds "Something went wrong." I think the reason why I can't use the new Siri AI is my Mac does not support on-device Siri and PCC disallows me because I am still in the waitlist.
 
I think the promise of SIRI is great to have access to messages, mail and calendar, so many times I got a message re appointment and wish that is there a ay to create an appoinment with reminder in calendar and now with new siri this is possible with one voice command. lets hope apple keeps on building on this

Nothing to do between them. I got Siri Friday, still “indexing” today, and I have far, far less on device and iCloud data than others who have posted.
