After examining the contents of the new Quicktime X, I found the NEW Quicktime X icon is actually in the Contents folder. Something must be preventing it from showing up. I was unable to find the old Quicktime icon however... could it be elsewhere?

Total opposite for me, I find the current QuickTime icon icns file inside the Contents folder, and not the new one.

Me too. The new icon looks pretty ugly though so I'm okay with that.

Also, apparently the new Exposé features in the Dock are not included in this build.

But Windows (out the box at least) has always had a clunky way to join. Only in 7 are they making it as easy as the Mac OS X menu bar item solution.
It's "clunky" if clicking a link that says "Wireless networks are available" is too mentally challenging for you.

What's a more elegant solution, selecting a network directly from a drop-down menu or selecting "wireless networks are available" from a menu to open a dialog box where you can choose your wifi network?

Maybe it looks better if I...

No.

Who gives a rat's ass about elegance? It's about functionality.

The fact is, until Snow Leopard, AirPort wasn't nearly as useful for quickly getting information about wireless networks. And now it's better. Case closed.

Data Detectors

Someone earlier mentioned Data Detectors...

Can anyone tell me if these work in Safari (hover over a date/time or some contact details)?

I understand in demos that it works in TextEdit, and is a systemwide service, but having this in Safari would be truly killer!

Anyone?

I know what happened. I had copied and pasted the new quicktime icon into the info box of Quicktime. So....the new icon is there, but it's not displaying. Any thoughts?

Typical MS atttiude. This has been one of the problems with MS for years. The inability to marry form with function. This is why after 8 years, OS X is still the Gold Standard of operating systems. It's what the rest of the industry aspires to.

Anyone can slap on a feature. There is a whole galaxy of products that suffer from this creeping feature-itis, poorly implemented without regard for the user experience.

Apple isn't moving the industry forward by sheer accident. Everything succeeds or fails in direct proportion to the quality of the user experience. Notice how many features have been present in non-Apple products for a while, but when Apple implements them, they become popular and/or the object of renewed interest. This is one of the main reasons that the iPhone, for instance, has not only become the most desirable device out there almost overnight - becoming the Standard by which other devices are judged, but has managed to retain that position over time.

Good point. It's all about the details.

To burn this build to a dual-layer dvd in Leopard, do I just drag-and-drop the dmg onto the empty dvd and pop it in the drive and boot it when it's done or what?
