AFAIK after conversation with people in the kingston apple store (near where i live) and the regent street apple store (near where i study lol) they are getting deliveries twice daily in the mornings and in the afternoons and evenings....
the only thinkg im hacked off about is ordering a MBP the day they came out and having to wait till freaking november for it to be deliverd grr

The Southapton store is still out of the 2.4 MB but has some 2.0s in stock....so i'm still w a i t i n g ... anyone else with me?!

I ordered a 2.4GHz MB with 4GB from the HE store online using quidco so should be getting over £60 cash back.

How did you access the HE store online? Is it from Uni networks only? I phoned up and ordered mine with the HE discount in the end...I would have been eyeing up the cashbacks too otherwise...:D

damn! why didn't I think of that :-(. did you pick up a nano too?
Yes, but I'm giving it to my sister as I have an iPhone (and don't listen to music anyway).

It is supposed to be Uni networks only, but if you go directly to the URL off campus it still works. You just can't get to the page where you select your Uni.

The url is store.apple.com/uk_edu_anumberthatisproablydifferentforeachinstitutionbutimnotpostingavalidone

I can't believe how much more popular this model is - it costs £200 more and you only get a 400MHz faster processor and glowing keys. Is it really worth waiting for or paying all that extra money for?

You could get a Time Capsule or an iPod with the money you save by going for 2.0.

Apple has hit a home run with their only put the back lit KB in the high end model. I hate shelling out for it but what can I do? I have now justified the purchase although the price is crazy. :)

That was me. I don't know if you noticed me making an absolute mess of the car park exit hitting two kerbs on the way out, once while trying to avoid someone else in a Megane. I'm not used to these tight spaces - the car parks I'm usually in are luxuriously wide!

I thought that crazy applause was a bit odd and the look on others' faces when it happened was funny. The guy that served me was in a right pickle and asked for my name about 4 times.

I made it out with my 2.0 model though - no way was I going to give them the extra £200 (well, £170 with discount) for the 2.4 model. It's currently upstairs ethernetted to my iMac transferring my data.

Trackpad is definitely different but the way I'd describe it is almost like a screen protector is sitting over it. I didn't expect the clicking to be so good - it's just like a big button!

That's hilarious... i kinda wondered if it was you actually but i didnt want to be the weird guy asking a stranger if he uses macrumors forums!!!

Yeah my salesman was a bit off too... he hadnt even heard of the institution i work for!!!!! its like one of the biggest and well known univeersities in the uk but hey not everyone is that enlightened!

LOL... hope you enjoy your new toy!!!

Backlit keyboard is the new SuperDrive. The low model doesn't have it so people are shunning it!

Just back from Glasgow with a MBP, decided to cancel my online order as I'm an impatient git.

I'm heading to apple Glasgow in train from fallirk. Hope they still have 2.0ghz MacBooks in stock. Girl on phone couldn't reserve 1 for 40min till I got there in train. Couldn't even pay it over phone and collect

this is good to know
hopefully gonna go to either regent street or brent cross to get 2.4 mb on the weekend

from what i understand from reading the thread
even if you ask them to hold you one over the phone, chances are they'll probably sell it any way?
do they at least let u know if and how many they have in stock if you call them up?

Are the low end MBP more common than the high end MB in general? I don't expect people to know however ask in the hope that we can come to some sort of consensus. I would go with either one as I want the Mb and my partner wants the MBP. So I get to play with one no matter which order they are bought. Also my partner can expense it so the more expensive one makes sense for him. :)

When I phoned around on Wednesday, the Lakeside Store was fine giving out stock details. Bluewater was more annoying. Person I spoke to said that all she was allowed to tell me was that they had stock, but not how many. I asked if there would be any left in a couple of hours and she said 'maybe'. Don't understand the secrecy, other than it made me drive there faster. Felt quite manipulative really. Luckily I got one, but I would have been really annoyed if I got there and stock had all gone.

That is annoying, I can't understand why they wouldn't give out stock levels!

Regent Street told me they had only a "handful" delivered to them for the launch date which sold pretty quick. The ETA they have for a substantial delivery of stock is 2 weeks away however they expect to receive a "handful" each day until then. Today there was no delivery apparently.

A guy at the West Quay store told me yesterday that they get a delivery at about 7am each day but they don't know what it will contain in advance.

He also said that if the online store says 'ships within 24 hours' theres a 99% chance of them having stock, if it says 'ships within 3-4 days' theres about a 50% chance they'll have stock and if it says more than 6 days there's slim to no chance of them having anything - That doesn't boed well!

Anyone know if the AppleStore in the Trafford Center have any stock? Am thinking of going afterwork tonight...

Sorry don't know about Manchester, but does anyone know if MK, cambridge, birmingham, solihull, or leicester will stock the 2.4Ghz over the weekend?

MCC Digital have both new models in stock in Warrington, they are now closed until Monday morning. Not sure if their other stores have them in.
Spoke to Apple Trafford Centre, Arndale Centre, and Liverpool One - all said they had none of the 2.4 model and didn't know when they were getting them in.
