Is it true that the Regent Street store is doing RAM upgrades? Brilliant.

I just hope they have some in stock. :/

Went to Regent St at 6 pm tonight and nothing. No delivery tomorrow, maybe sometime next week, most likely 2 weeks before they have any real stock. RAM upgrade was hideously expensive.

I was feeling a bummed, but the wife wanted to continue shopping. We were in Selfridges, and I made a quick detour to the tech department. Sure enough, they had two 2.4 macbook pro's in stock [ plus a couple of the 2.4 Macbooks. no 2.0 Macbook or MBP 2.53 ]. Score!

Got home and ordered the 4 Gb RAM upgrade online, for less than what Apple is charging.

oh dear
chances of getting one over the weekend are looking slim
selfridges wouldnt offer the HE student discount if i showed them my card would they? im assuming only apple directly would do it?

Just came back (Saturday) from Regents Street - no stock and no idea on any shipments.

Relax, lads, ain't going to happen this weekend :(

you would of thought the flagship store would be the first to stock these badboy notebooks :)

how much are the RAM upgrades? surely cant be that much?

Just got back from the Bullring store with my 2.4GHz Macbook. :)

Two other people in there buying them too.

No idea why Regent Street didn't get any. :-(

Go Get One

http://www.solutions-inc.co.uk

These guys seem to have loads of stock of all models.

Bournemouth definitely and them as do Chichester (I got my 2.4 MB yesterday and when the guy opened the cupboard it was absolutely bursting with stock!! Strange that resellers seem to have more stock than official Apple stores!

The online store is apparenly out of stock so get down to their stores is my advice (phone them up first 0870 389 8610)

I just phoned my closest store and they have stock zt the moment so should be getting mine today. Got to decide though - 2.0 or 2.4. £172 is the differrence (HE disc.) Not sure if it's worth it for a better processor and HD though. I could do a lot of mods myself for £172.

remember the backlit keyboard too... that's a deal breaker for some...

I'm still completely in two minds. backlit keyboard is cool, but do i need it? Do i need a mac for that matter i guess. I'm leaning towards the 2.4. With 160GB i would prabably need to replace the HDD, with 250 an external would be fine.

benjyman, think about the resale value as well with a 2.4ghz over a 2.0. I reckon in the long run the extra money may be worth it.

Definitely not worth it - you could get a Time Capsule or iPod instead which will give you much greater benefits than some paltry speed increase on the CPU. A 250 or 320GB HDD upgrade is currently about £50 if you want to do it yourself.

Trafford Centre Availability

Got my 2.4 at the Trafford Centre this morning at 10am. They just had a delivery, and I had to wait for 5 minutes before they put reservations to one side before they would let me have one. I've been playing with it for the past couple of hours and I'm absolutely delighted with it.

Belfast - Victoria Square

Belfast got a delivery in this morning, I picked up a MacBook Pro, they seemed to have all the models in.

Telephoned Southampton West Quay yesterday afternoon, and no MBs. I rang first thing this morning, and they said there had been a delivery, and there was 'limited stock'...so I chanced, it, and made the 60 mile trip, and was lucky enough to get a 2.4 MB. Very nice.

Got one! Leicester Highcross. 2.4Ghz, time capsule, airport express, ipod nano rebate, printer rebate, applecare £47.
Now all I have to do is hand it over to my daughter.........:(

Ok, Regents Street had a big delivery today. Thay had a gazillion of new MacBooks and MacBook Pros. I picked a 2.4 MacBook, yey!:D

They, however, do not do ram upgrade in store.

Not enough 2.53 MBPs :(

Unless they had another delivery later on today..? Anyone know?

They sold out as the guy was walking up the stairs to get me one! :(

1st post, 1st time Mac owner.

Picked up mine (albeit a 2.0g version) from West Quay in Southampton yesterday after a play around. Was thinking about a 2.4, but seeing as the 2.0g its masses better than my old laptop anyway, very satisfied.

Very pleased to report great service at the store and very satisfied with the new machine. No problems at all, and even managed to get my music transfered with ease :)

..just been on the phone with the Bluewater store, they are out of stock, but they should have a delivery on wed.

Hmmm. I don't know whether or not to cancel my phone order and try Bluewater/Lakeside again later this week. (Yes, I'm an impatient so-and-so :D, but I am slightly miffed at being told I have to wait til next month to get a product that other online stores (KRCS etc.) have and are shipping out already (I was quoted next day delivery), and I have to buy from Apple to get my HE discount).

I think I'd probably phone just before closing the night before, and if they have stock then, arrive before opening the next day to ensure I get one! It's an hours drive+ so phoning before leaving isn't very reliable the way they're selling out (I want a 2.4GHz MB). Then I'd probably go for the ipod/printer offer (or both) and sell both on...(I didn't do this before as I hadn't been paid yet ).

Oh- how long do people think it would take Apple to transfer my money back? I ordered on the 15th with a Solo card and it "hasn't shipped yet", obviously :D. I don't want to get there & my card be rejected because the transfer isn't complete, even though the funds are showing in my account.

When I phoned Lakeside/bluewater (can't remember which said this), they said that they can't take reservations...can reservations only be made in store? If I could make a reservation it would remove the risk of making a journey for nothing & wasting a load of fuel :(

Unfortunately it can take a few days for the authorisation on your account to clear, so unless you have enough available funds for a second MacBook, you'll need to wait till the authorisation clears... it's sucky I know, so you might want to be very sure about purchasing from the store vs letting your online order ship.
