Can your iPad do this?

Shouldn't Microsoft advertise the features that Surface has instead of bashing out the competition?

I'll bring your attention to the long-running and one of the most successful "Mac vs PC" commercial which essentially bashed living lights out of everything PC. So, maybe for you it's now what they're doing by who's doing it, huh?

Samsung Galaxy TabPro S it's a great tablet! The only reason why it didn't sell more than iPad and Surface is because Samsung obsession with plastic still continues, when I hold an iPad or Galaxy S7 it's screams quality..it's like I know everything works properly

However when it comes to Tablet mode the iPad has no equals, it works fantastic specially browsing through web

Thank you! Also it's extremely easy to boot into recovery mode and just reset it clean if you needed to.

"Hey, well you can just wipe everything clean off your device when you get ransomware" is not exactly positive marketing for buying a Surface.

How many of you commenting here have used or tired both?? You shouldn't comment just on the stupid video that doesn't mean a thing without using both to see how they are in real life...

I must admit - it's a pretty funny homage to the old "I'm a mac", "I'm a PC" ads - even down to the music. I enjoyed that.

That was so different. microsoft is making full of themselves once again by argiung that iPad is not a computer. That's just sad. Of course it's not a computer like in the 80's, 90's or 00's, but it's a computer non the less.

but of course ads like this work for idiots just fine.

I absolutely love my SP4, but if Apple would release an iPad Pro that can run the full Adobe Creative Suite I would most likely switch immediately. Come on Apple!

The title of this non storie should be as follows:

New Surface Pro 4 Ad Takes on Apple's 'What's a Computer?' iPad Pro Campaign. Continues to be irrelevant

Irrelevant, really?

The Surface Pro 4 is the first PC device I've purchased since about 2002. It's extremely well reviewed and frankly works great. I wouldn't call it irrelevant. In fact, I'm sure it came up in conversations about the iPad Pro line at Apple.

What you have then is choice. Full, or 360.
You two don't know what you're talking about. Office 365 is subscription version of the Office apps, nothing more or less. The mobile version of Office, on iOS , Android and Windows Phone, misses many features that people need. If you have to write a document with any kind of complexity, they fail. The desktop versions, Mac and Windows, are full featured.

Since you bought one must be a big deal.

I agree with everything in the ad. I'm actually a bit surprised it took Microsoft this long to put out an ad (or some would call it an attack) like this.

I'm also surprised by the reaction on this forum. I was expecting more people to defend Apple, I'm glad most people seem to agree with Microsoft.

If anything, an ad like this may force Apple to be more innovative, although doubtful.

This is not a fair comparison. The MS Surface is more like a slim laptop than it is a tablet. The iPad is more a tablet than it is a laptop replacement.

The Surface is very portable—for a laptop. But as a tablet it is not comfortable to hold. Is the Surface fast? Yes. But it also gets hot. If you need a PC you can travel with, the Surface Pro is a good option.

Do you need a device for checking email, browsing the web, playing games, and being creative? The iPad Pro shows its superiority over the Surface Pro.

If you are a hardcore PC user then the Surface Pro is the clear choice. But if you already have a good laptop and you are just looking for a supplemental device, the iPad Pro has to be the better option.

Fair? Apple wandered into this space with their What's a Computer' ad. Then it's not 'fair' to be called out on it?

Who cares.

Can you do serious professional work on a 12" device? No!

Does the Surface has power to run an external 4K monitor at 60fps? No!

The definition of "serious professional work" fully depends on the kind of work and the person doing the work.

I work with Xcode on an old 13" white MacBook and love it more than my newer 21.5" iMac because I have noticed that I can concentrate better using one display than two displays.
If my iPad would allow me run Xcode, I'll be using it for this purpose too.

I appreciate you implying I'm an idiot. Very mature. It's about the subtle context here. iPad and any smart phone in fact is a computer given that it has the components that would define a "computer" in the technical sense. Apple trying to say iPad Pro is a computer (as in desktop or laptop) replacement is simply a joke. Surface comes much closer to being a laptop replacement. iPad is still largely a media consumption device. I cannot imagine doing any real work on it. One example, any corporate system today will not run on iOS. I know because I've tried at least two. Some won't run properly on OS X either but function perfectly well on the Surface. Microsoft has a point here.
