New Text Notifications Ridiculously Long?

I hope they are twice as long in 4.3 just in case I have not annoyed every person in the room yet with a text notification.

I have literally never heard anything but tri-tone, all of the others are so poor that most people stick with the default "least awful" tone.

I'd like custom tones so that I can have the Metal Gear Alert tone, so much fun to be had watching others jump when it goes off, then realise they aren't playing MGS

if you're jailbroken, theres a tight tone in Cydia called "MGS codec sms tone" it's a different sound than what you posted in the link though. I dont play metal gear, so not sure what it refers to in the game, but it's short and sweet, my favorite tone by far.

Old Text Tones

For some reason when I jailbroke my iphone4 to 4.2.1 the only text tones that are audible are the new ones. If I select any of my original tones (they will give you the audible demo sound when selecting) but when you select one all the phone does with in-coming messages is vibrate. But if I pick any of the new tones they work just fine? WTF

Anyone else noticed that Apple have shortened a lot of the NEW SMS tones that we got with 4.2....

I only noticed when the tone I currently use was sporting shorter I thought it was a bug but I checked and most of the others have been shortened in 4.3 too!!

Better choice now, but surely this proves apple are listening... So why not implement custom tones????

ya there have been a bunch of threads on it... apparently there are people who enjoy 30 second text tones.

Yep they are cringe-worthy. Not just way too long, but just terrible sounding.

Mine is the Mac boot sound. Perfect length and beautiful every time.
