Probably not. It needs alot of work. I pulled the heatsink off and all I saw was burnt original paste. Okay that solves the freezing issue.

It wouldn't start with the door closed and half the RAM doesn't show up. Reseating the RAM every start fixes it but unless you close the door ever so slowly it cuts out. I think it is a ground problem in the PSU snake to the 24 pin connector on the Logic Board. For a single 1.25 MDD I don't deem ordering parts worth it, especially since my daily driver is a G5 and a MBP.
Got ya!

If it was me and that was my QS I'd replace it, but that's just personal preference. I see logicboards for the QS on eBay for about $30 including shipping. That's half of what the 17" 1.0Ghz logicboards seem to be going for (which is what I am in need of currently).

I can't imagine the MDDs would be much more expensive. But if there is a fault in the PSU that needs to be fixed too as it will eventually burn the board out again I imagine. Ah well. Hope it was good to you!

I have no problem rebuilding a PSU. However, since there are so many wires tin that "snake" finding the fault is near impossible. I may pull it tomorrow.

Well, if you have no problem with it then you probably know what you're doing. I replaced the fan in mine and it was all I could do to try and prevent myself from touching stuff I didn't have to! Putting it back together was a relief.

I wouldn't even try this, I'd just replace the entire thing.

By the time I order a new PSU and a new Logic Board you are talking some serious cash for a MDD that was a freebie and only a 1.25.

I would like to use the display more but the power block has a big hole in it and makes weird electric noises and gets really hot. Anyone know where I can get a replacement?

Those power bricks are unusual and uncommon. Is it the OEM one with the Apple logo on it? You could find another on eBay. I don't know what they are currently selling for.

Doesn't have any apple logo on it,

Found an original one for $80 at some site but hardly worth it considering I paid $40 for the pair

That's not an Apple OEM one. What's the DC end of that power supply look like? The hardest part will be finding one that had a female connector to go with the display's male power cord.

Looked all over it and no name or model or serial. I saw marking on the chord but it only gave me links to the power plug end. With the frayed wire and temps this thing puts up I think I may not be able to use it again.

It's a great offer but not sure it would do anything as the screen doesn't have any of those connections pictured here. Much appreciated and tempting for my other Cinema Display though!

New (to me) Apple display and speakers

That is quite a generous offer. If he doesn't want it I'd recommend posting in the Marketplace on that adapter.

It's been sitting in a box for a few years after I quit using it at work. I also have at least one set of the round speakers. The ones that I have aren't USB. They have that screwball Apple connecter. One set was used on my parent's iMac (the one that was like a half ball with LCD display.)

You have some decent equipment. Someone here was looking for those speakers not too long ago actually.

I've got this power brick if you want it. Not sure if it will help you, but it's yours if you want it. Image

Dude! I'll take it! That's a DVI to ADC converter box!

I've got two Studio Displays I can't use without one of those and I'm having to use my old Cinema Display with an actual ADC video card until I get one of these.

If you are giving it away, again, I'll take it!

What were those markings. I am going to go on a hunt to find an adapter.

Eyoungren should get the converter box, he deserves it always helpful and really loves his machines

eyoungren is definitely one of the top contributors to this community of PPCers along with Intell.

Would you mind giving me the model number of the monitor itself? That cord identifier is apparently only the insulation used, and has nothing to do with the physical cord or socket size, unfortunately.
