Maybe I'm crazy to say this but surely Apple would do this for you.

Make sure the screen is set to the correct white balance then you have the olio to change rather than having to do something to it.

My iPhone screen is perfect, lol, well to me.

hope you prefer the next one!! :)
I'm gutted because it's music production what I do and have a professional set-up that needs thunderbolt. The video and photography side I learnt so can utilise YouTube.

I feel so sad not being able to get in my studio for a couple of weeks, that's why wanted to keep.

Have to return now, Apple have order the next one.

Lol I'm so nervous now haha

Hi there

Felt I had to register and let out my frustration with Apple.

The 1st ever MacBook Pro I bought in 2010 had to send back after 3months for hardware issue, now sending this one back because of yellow tint in the screen

I have attached a photo to show you my 2010 MBP (right) and my new 2015 MBP (left).

I'm so disappointed with Apple have been let down so many times with there products, yes they eventually sort it out but always stressful.

Has anyone had this issue on their new 2015 MBP?

Sorry had to let off some steam, was so excited and now disappointed.

Roberto :(
Maybe i'm colorblind, but I like the computer on the left, it looks more accurate than the blue-ish tinted one on the right.

Am I the only one that feels like your new machines colors seem more natural/accurate, and not overly saturated with a "Cool Blue" color tint option like on any HDTV? Im not seeing this "yellow" tint, but I can definitely see that unnatural blue tint on the right side machine...Just my two cents

You are not the only one, I think it looks great. The older one looks washed and too Blue.

What does it look like next the the old one?
If I have to be honest neither are accurate.

I probably would have never noticed if I hadn't got into photography & videotography.

Lol should have just stuck with audio production.

Have to send back now anyway, they waiting for the return and the newer has been ordered.

Will report back in a week.

Glad I bought AppleCare piece of mind for the next laptop.

On a GH4 forum and they're telling me the colour of the old Mac is better and the new one is too yellow. They thought the yellow one was the older laptop!

The footage on my camera screen matches that of my 2010 MBP when I looked back.
Camera screens are not calibrated and should not be relied up for accuracy.
When you shot this scene, did you send a white image to the screens and take a custom white balance reading for the camera? Ideally you should take a reading from one then shoot the other. Then reverse the process, to see how far out they are from each other.
Also, don't forget, your room lighting seems to be yellow, so compared to your room, the new Mac is pretty accurate.
Your 2010 Mac actually has a magenta tint to it overall.
You really need to calibrate the screen before returning it. Even if you do return it and get what you consider to be a good screen, calibrate that one as well.
You need neutral rooms lighting and a calibrated screen I reckon

Long thread at this point and sorry if I re-ask something that was already posted earlier. Since you're unhappy with the MBP, will you be returning it or exchanging it.

There's been others who bought new MBPs that had yellow screens, so I suspect it may be something to do with the panel manufacturer. If you exchange it, you may get a better model.

Calibrating the display may help a lot as mentioned and it can't hurt to try.

Exchanging for another, I need the thunderbolt connectivity for my audio interface.

Other than the yellow screen the new MacBook Pro is so fast at editing 4k video and the SSD drive amazing.

I want it back with a better screen! :(

Both screens for each of your MacBooks have inaccurate calibration - I would say that you are just used to the 'coolness' of the screen on your older model, so the new model looks really bad. Having said that, the new model does look very warm out-of-the-box.

I honestly think you need to recalibrate the screen; you need to calibrate towards the cooler side to remove the yellow - so if you are doing a basic calibration in the Apple utility (i.e. without a hardware calibration tool), you want to head in the direction of 7000 (I am not saying calibrate to 7000 I am just saying head the slider in that direction) until you are satisfied with the screen. It should only take a few minutes.

I tried to calibrate the screen with the Mac software and couldn't get it to look good taking it away from the warmer side, made other things look bad.

I'm not claiming to be a professional, not even semi-professional but I understand a little on how to set up white balance etc.

I don't want to be spending more money because I have run out on money with laptop, camera and audio equipment.

This screen isn't good enough for a £2000 laptop. I know I'm use to a bluer screen but this screen is extremely warm messing up skin tones for editing.

I know that screens won't be perfect and would need to calibrated properly with an ICC profile but this screen just isn't like the ones I saw in the Apple Store 2014 models.

Why do the store ones look better?

Surely do this for us as well, as they are in store.

Store lighting is not natural light, so tha can affect your perception. Then there is the possibility that they all come from a different production run and batch from yours.

Honestly, without proper calibration, you'll be back in a month's time with the replacement. If you are doing photo and video work, a hardware colorimeter is not a luxury.

Just a thought if you have not sent you mac back yet, I can PM you one of my calibrated profiles? There are lots of reasons this won't work e.g. different panels makes/models etc.. but you have nothing to loose and if it does look better you know its a calibration issue.

I have just found a profile from my old mbp and it looks dramtically yellow on my new MBP (meaning my old mac was too cold and needed a warmer colour balance), as i have said before my new bmp needed cooling down a little...anyway just a thought if it helps any...

Too late now I started the process yesterday of them ordering me a new one and sent it back as soon as because need my laptop.

On a professional videotography forum many have told me to buy either a Datacolo Spyder, XRite i1 or Basiccolor instrument. Are these easy to use?

I really appreciate your help TheDrift!

I have a spyder, not sure which model but it's a few years old.

It's very easy to use just put the camera in front of the screen and run the programme. I have more trouble fitting it back in the box afterward :)

Hope your new Mac comes just as you like it :)

Out comes the credit card again, I will buy one once I know the best one for about £100.
