Regardless of what others may say and no offense to their advise. OP, if you're not happy with the laptop then there's no reason why you should keep it. Clearly its not what you expected quality wise and you paid a lot of money. I would not accept this myself and would have exchanged the unit if I felt it was not living up to my expectations.

As I said before, you do not need to explain your actions. It's your money and if you have a nagging feeling that you made a mistake keeping it, you will never be happy.

I understand that everyone here is trying to help figure out if this is a real issue or if this can be fixed by calibration, but at the end of the day, it is your choice to keep it or send it back. Your window of deciding is closing soon.

It is not like Apple is losing money on your return, they would not make a product if they are not making 150% profit after expenses and this is just a drop in the sea for them.

Also, from a photographer's perspective, you don't want a cold steel screen. You want one that is a lil' warmer.

If I put a white card next to the screen the whites aren't white, how can that be natural?

But that white card will reflect the lighting in your room - unless you have specifically neutral lights then the white card will be the colour of the lights you are using, and thus will be off.

This is why a white balance adjustment is made with a video/photo camera after all the lights are on - you correct for any shift away from white.

TV studio lights, for example, are 3200K which is different from outdoor natural light... which still changes subtly throughout the day.

Thank you all for the comments they have really helped.

I sent laptop back this morning and now waiting for replacement.

I have just purchased Datacolor 5 elite.

Thank you

Roberto

Where are you located? I think I recall that in the U.S. there was a change of policy a few years ago and that you can now return online purchases in a physical store. Might be different elsewhere, though.
I'm in England. They said to me on the phone that I couldn't do that. I found it strange also, would have be a lot quicker for me to pick up a new one from store.

It's a different part of the company. I know to us it's all Apple, but the stock, profits and costs are all separate between ordering online and purchasing in store.

Hi there

Felt I had to register and let out my frustration with Apple.

The 1st ever MacBook Pro I bought in 2010 had to send back after 3months for hardware issue, now sending this one back because of yellow tint in the screen

I have attached a photo to show you my 2010 MBP (right) and my new 2015 MBP (left).

I'm so disappointed with Apple have been let down so many times with there products, yes they eventually sort it out but always stressful.

Has anyone had this issue on their new 2015 MBP?

Sorry had to let off some steam, was so excited and now disappointed.

Roberto :(

The new rMBP use IPS displays which are generally warmer than TN panels like with the 2010 MBP.

I also have a 2010 MBP still and there is a big difference between the two. At first I thought the 2013 rMBP was yellow, but now I think the 2010 MBP 15" is just blue while the 2013 rMBP Haswell is accurate.

The earliest they can get it is the 15th June and they didn't offer me any discount.

I'm not complaining about the customer service, I'm confident they will sort it out.

I don't believe any of this. Take it from someone that has ordered online and returned a number of products directly to an Apple store - They take everything back at the store - Online purchase or not! I just returned a custom ordered 1.3GHZ 512GB rMB! They didn't even ask me why I was returning it! If your for real, quit whining on a forum, man up and take it back! Now if you bought a custom build they don't stock, you'll have to reorder and wait, not an issue as you still have your perfect 2010. If the second one is bad, hey Windows 10 is out soon, get one of those!

He's in the U.K. It's entirely possible that this is how it still works there. Remember that it was this way in the U.S. until relatively recently.

This is true, it would be a lot easier for me to drop off and pick up in store. They clearly told me that I could either have it repaired in store or at an appoved store or an exchange. I said I will exchange at the store, the lady apologised and told me that exchanges for online purchases can not been done at the store.

I presume this is how it works in the UK.

If a few people are seeing this yellowing on the new MacBook's, is there any possibility it could be the glue? Similar to the problem experienced with the iPhone a few years ago? May fade and improve over time.

But, despite all the good advice from folk here. These are £1500-£2000 machines. If you're not happy, don't feel bad about returning it. It annoys me that companies think it's okay to offer repairs on something so new too!

New Macs, especially Retina MacBooks, are calibrated much warmer than older MacBooks. This bothered me the first time I compared them side-by-side too, but the new calibration is much closer to "correct" and I find it much more natural to look at over time.

I suggest that you don't compare them directly, and give it some time. Your eyes are trained to seeing the screen one way, and now seeing something different looks wrong.

It doesnt help that iphones and ipads are not calibrated to quite the same standard, so people incorrectly use the blueish white of their iphone/ipad and compare it to their macbook pro, which has the far more accurate white balance.

The new screen is stunning!

Hopefully everything else is working!
