Nope.
Why do you do that?

Just bring your MacBook or iPad.

Assuming they have either.

And not an iMac.

Or if the destination has a way to plug external devices into the projector.

Also, bringing the Macbook or iPad is really a bad solution to the problem.

You would actually just export the slideshow as a PDF at the very least.

Ideally, you'd open the presentation up in iWork Online.

Trying to figure out all of these work arounds is what drove me to just go back to Office.

I use iTunes every day and it's total crap now. It's slow, full of bugs and it's just about impossible to find anything in the iTunes Store. If there was a decent alternative I would happily switch.

LMAO, it's obviously not "total crap" if you haven't found a "decent" alternative. ;)

Exactly. So many excuses being made on Apple's part. Idea, just develop iWork for Windows. Problem solved.

They have a monopoly simply because nobody else makes a serious alternative to Office.
If someone made a serious competitor to Office and made it such that you could open/save/send Word docs to someone without any formatting problems, they would have a long line to customers. Daft really when you consider how much money Microsoft makes from Office.

No, that's not it. They have a monopoly because much of the public DARES not to try something else. Case in point much of the world saw Blackberry OWN the enterprise world and nothing could take it's place. Well many people decided to take the risk and bring iOS and Android into the mix and look where Blackberry is now. It's all about people opening their minds and realizing what they really NEED vs. what they are buying. 9 times out of 10 Office is not being used to it's full potential in the business world. I should know. My entire work is infused in the enterprise world.

No, Office being the better product helps them maintain a monopoly.

Exactly, that's why so many people use Office to it's full potential...

Where did I say that? Isn't it strange that even with only using 2-4% of all the functions, big companies still do a cost/benefit analysis and stick with Office rather than go with something cheaper?

Couldn't possibly be because it's better, right?

Ok, so what is that something else?

OpenOffice
LibreOffice
GDocs
iWork

There are alternatives, yet apparently a majority of businesses are sticking with Office because of ... they're obviously stupid. They'd rather pay more for a product they don't need, obviously.

My job used GDocs, didn't work as well as we needed it to.

I guess we can try iWork...? Oh wait, damn. I'm a .Net Architect and constructing systems on a Mac would prove to be rather difficult given the circumstances. I guess OpenOffice or LibreOffice are my only choices. If we didn't want to be stupid, of course. :D

I will say, I loved the collaboration thing in GDocs where you could see people editing at the same time.

Oh it's total crap alright but I've invested a lot of money buying iTunes content over the years so what should I do? Switch? To what? Is there an alternative? I could switch to streaming services like Netflix and Spotify but I prefer to own my content. I've even considered switching back to discs. If UHD and BluRay music take off I might switch to that or maybe buy a Pono. Shame really as I used to love using iTunes.

Don't they have that as part of Office Online?

Size matters

And how many gigs will this one take? Whatever happened to coders who actually know how to write slim code? I remember a version of Word that fit on a floppy disc. Give me a new one like that thanks.

No modern program will ever fit onto a floppy disk.

I don't care about MS Office as much as I used to. Maybe because most of what is done in the business world today doesn't necessarily require using Microsoft's software. Today my entire office is happily Microsoft-free. :)

Sorry, but anyone in business life knows that F500 companies rely very very heavily on Microsoft Office. Take Excel, tell me another program with half as many features. Take Outlook, what? Are we going to use Mac OS Mail in Wall Street? :D Try preparing a 500 page pitch book on something other than Word. And I'm not talking about only features either. Office has amazing collaboration, which is key in business. Sharing, cloud integration. So, think before writing. Or don't generalize arguments.

Your arrogant post isn't going to help your argument much. And you have zero idea what my business entails for you to even start your post that way towards me.

problem with your argument was it doesnt into account the fact that iOS and some android offerings are actually better to own than blackberry products.

not true for Office. they're better than the the competitors products.

you keep saying most people in the banking industry dont use the features to their full extent and that is just not true. perhaps you're just not high enough on the totem pole to know.
i am currently articling in a financial planning / mutual fund dealership firm and we use lots of complicated macros, merges and VBA scripts. amongst other features. not to mention the fact that office integrates into our CRM package. neither of which can be easily replicated on other office suites.

I have to agree. Nothing beats Microsoft Office on the Enterprise. I am a Microsoft specialist working with big, enterprise customers and Microsoft is standard. Nobody is even remotely thinking of using anything else..
