I dunno...

I honestly would not enjoy watching ANY movies on a screen that small (2.5-2.6"?). if you took a current gen iPod and rotated it 90 degrees left or right and stretched the LCD the length of the iPod, maybe I may bite. But hey, If Steve does release a Vid iPod, i hope he's packing some impressive capabilities as well (ala ROKR. the lack of). it will be such a disappointment if apple were to release one and it does not 10 up every PVP currently available.

As many have said so far, it will not be a Video iPod, it will be an iPod with video playback capabilities. It is not designed to watch full-length feature films on the go. That may come at a later time, but not today.

Yah why is it that Apple is incapable of making some of the most innovative devices I've ever seen from people NOT in the industry. IF some high school kid can whip up some cool design that would probably sell like mad why can’t Apple. Once again Apple has gone with the same old warmed over design. 30 years from now we are still going to be stuck with the same form factor just smaller.

Because said warmed-over design works incredibly well, and has revolutionized the music industry. It's only thing to create a Photoshop mockup that looks cool, it's another to create something like the original iPod. We're all standing on the shoulders of giants, not the other way around.

TV out is what will distinguish this iPod from other players. The mockups with the vertically oriented screen looked cool, but the scroll wheel is too low for comfortable 1-handed operation IMO.

Trust me when I say Apple probably had way more actual prototypes than the various Photoshop mockups people have made.

Only about a minute left till we begin to become thrilled as all heck, or disappointed to the max. Some will be thrilled with whatever is announced and some will be disappointed with whatever is announced, but at least Apple is announcing SOMETHING. Keep it up Apple ... eventually you'll announce PB updates. :D

Looks like ThinkSecret is dying, too...took me forever to get their site to respond even though they don't appear to have anything. Haven't seen MacRumors' servers on the ropes like this for awhile.

Sweet... That was the plan for me today as well, but I got called in to fix stuff  ...crappy peecees :p

Looks real to me and I hope so: it might be wider than current iPods (not sure) but I love the bigger screen and (apparently) thinner body. Video questions aside, it's a nice evolution. Who would vote negative? The market wouldn't have gone for some massive PSP-style iPod.

Right down to the minute on the leaks, aren't we? :D

Boo

(1st post) :)
I have my credit card out...not for a vPod, iPod w/ video, iPod nano, or an iPod this or iPod that. I want a flippin' PowerBook. Somebody (ie Steve) needs to throw us a bone here today or I'm not going to be switching anytime soon

We are expecting new iMacs (see previous report on iMacs with iSight and Media card reader, etc)

Appleinsider

Have the movie trailers always been available on the Music Store? Have I just not noticed them before??

Not a regular Music Store user so I've probably just missed them.

Ok, so we’re still having issues, but here’s what we’ve got so far. Apparently there’s a Salling Clicker replacement for the Mac—a Mac remote, as it were. It’s called FrontRow.

We also have word of a new, flatter iMac with built-in iSight.

More details to come…

iLounge is reporting that they are unable to post live updates due to the lack of WiFi and/or bad cellular coverage (or intentional cellular blockage) at the California Theatre.

Looks like we may have to wait until Apple's sites are updated to see what's what... :(
