well it looks like the 'one more thing' for this event was the TV downloads thru iTUnes to the iPod and watching it on the computer or tv

btw iTunes 6 is available today

dunno yet about the TV shows whether it's US only

I can't believe there's no new PowerBooks. I've lost all faith in Apple.
Apple, or Apple marketing? The decision to include PowerBooks in today's event, vs. releasing them separately (but likely still soon) is a MARKETING choice. And not a bad one I don't think: until Intel, the PowerBooks are unlikely to get a really big update. So keep it low-key. Makes sense not to include them in this event. Keep an eye on the coming Tuesdays.

If you think this means Apple's not interested in portables, remember that portables are one of the driving reasons behind a HUGE Apple project: the Intel transition.

www.macosxrumors.com said there would be updates to ALL Apple Macs by early December :)

And you never know........other stuff might have been updated when that store comes back online. :D

Lost faith in Apple?

Can anyone actually CONFIRM that the 7448 is avaiable in quantity yet?

Can you guys not understand that Apple would love to sell you a better PowerBook, but can't until they can actually MANUFACTURE them?

You think Steve Jobs and crew are sitting around the conference table, going "Update the PowerBooks, one of our highest margin, most expensive products? NAhhhhhh....."

Well if there are no new PBs, Im totally bummed :(
I really NEED a new PB to work on... I just cant justify the purchase considering the current hardware. Argh! Why does OSX have to be sooo good... I have no choice but to wait

My comments:

* A full "video iPod" never made sense for most people. It's too soon (if ever) and would have been perceived as a failure.

* Adding video to the MUSIC iPods as a cool extra (one you can always just ignore) makes good sense.

* Love the bigger screen and thinner body. Even the 60 is thinner than the old 20! This plus the nano makes a great lineup. They'll sell tons.

* Playing clips from my own camera would be cool, assuming you can play any clips you want. (I assume iTunes converts video to iPod-ready form, just like with photos.)

* TV (limited selection at first) and music videos on iTunes and iPods? No revolution for me, but a great step to take. A foothold in new areas, and a fun option for users to have. I might even buy one or two.... and paying double to get video vs. just the song doesn't bother me at all. (Especially if the music is full quality and can be shuffled with my music library like any other song? That would be welcome.)

* New iMacs--with built-in camera and remote control? How cool is that? (Now when will Apple make them in black?) iMacs are the fun (and unexpected) part of today, for me. (Did I mention selling tons?)

* The simplicity of an iMac contrasted with a "media center" PC is humorous, even if they aren't really parallel products.

* New PowerMacs and PowerBooks? The wait continues... hang in there. Next week?

Anyone else look in the tech specs? Looks like no firewire on the new Video iPods just like the Nanos. And that to me sucks, because regardless of whether USB2 is supposed to be able to hit 480 and firewire 400. Firewire still seems way faster to me. That's very disappointing about something that otherwise would have me pretty excited.

Seriously, we'll probably just have an Apple update every other week until Christmas. How would that be for hyping up holiday shopping?

So, iTunes 5 is basically a joke? I guess that they needed an excuse to get to iTunes 6 for 2006, so the inclusion of buying videos worked for them. Still...

That's too bad, I don't see FW as an option on the Specs page. I can see it's not important to MOST iPod buyers, but on a large-capacity iPod it makes sense. And for me: I need to be able to boot from my iPod, which I don't think USB allows (correct me if I'm wrong). Guess I did well to get the older 60 :)

Hopefully we'll see a shiny new black ipod shuffle the death of the U2 ipod and the ability to download last weeks network tv programs. I don't want to ever have to use my Tivo or VCR again. .99 - 1.99 for a network download seems about right. Lost, Desperate Housewifes,Alias...Night Stalker. Hopefully the video enabled

I really don't understand where the black ipod shuffle is and the $19.99 custom color ipod options???

Wow, I'm stunned

I didn't think they would release a tiny video iPod to watch music videos!?!? Oh well, they replace the current top photo iPods so I guess they will sell. Not sure the music video sales however.

Makes sence why the ads didn't focus on videos as this isn't a true video iPod in a PVP sense.
