If that video is accurate, the phone sure looks thick enough to keep the headphone jack.

If the rumors about the phone's features are true, basically they are taking away something significant while adding very little. That will be the first time there will be as much pull to not upgrade as to upgrade, at least for me.

The iPhone 7 Plus is rumored to have a dual-lens camera with a wider camera cutout.

Here's my "iPhone 7 Plus" wishlist:

1. f/1.4 lens (because I'm a lens speed freak with my DSLR and Leicas)

2. Thinner form factor (because iPhones can never really be too thin + light)

3. "Space Black" diamond-like carbon coating (because I like black but anodized coatings wear though)

4. Smart Connector (because magnetic docking is far easier than Lightning plug fiddling)

5. Bluetooth v5 (because Bluetooth is just never quite good enough, year after year)

And for next year, here's my "iPhone 8 Plus" wishlist:

1. AMOLED screen (because iPhones can never really be too thin + light, and for better battery life)

2. Edge-to-edge screen (because it could reduce overall size by eliminating top and bottom bezel area)

3. Any of the "iPhone 7 Plus" wishlist items that I didn't get in 2016.

The phone's capabilities are far, far more important than the shape of the case.

I'd hoped that people would understand that just because the outside looks similar has zero bearing on what's happening inside.
Perhaps I overestimated peoples' ability to work these things out, though.

All of us in the forum know the difference between an A8 and A9 and can appreciated the raw power of the iPhone 6s but most people don't - just for fun I sent my wife and kids a picture of this alleged iPhone 7 and they say why would they upgrade to the same 3 year old slippery design again (btw-we as a group upgrade every year)

Apple could be missing a bit of the vanity crowd by keeping the same design for this long.

I think it looks pretty good, I don't get why the camera bump bothers so many people. As long as they include an adapter for the headphones I'll be happy (more thinking about the 2017 iPhone, I'm not planning on getting this year's model). Seems increasingly likely that this is the design for this year even though people continue to deny it.

Seriously, some of these people who obsess over the camera bump should get their heads checked.

Hope they release another SE that has a headphone jack and retains the size. Else I may be forced to change to android, not by choice. I NEED my headphone jack, I won't go on about earphones and how some third parties would make ones that work on it but I don't want to change IEM's again.

There'll be an adapter. Don't worry about whether or not there's a 3.5mm jack on the phone, in the end it'll make almost no difference about what headphones you use.

If they put in stereo speakers, then at least there wouldn't be no benefit to he change.

So far wireless charging has not really solved a problem. When my phone is plugged in to charge, I can hold it in my hand and use it. On 'wireless' chargers the phones are sitting on a charger, making them much harder to use. For bedside charging whilst sleeping the 'wireless' chargers look quite good, but they don't really make life any easier.

The thing is: if one wants to charge the iPhone while listening to something on the earbuds, it is quite reasonable to assume that the trio person-iPhone-socket is stationary relative to each other (the trio could be moving if this is happening inside a car, of course, but all would be stationary relative to each other nonetheless). In this scenario, wireless charging makes sense, and does make life easier, if only a tiny bit.

Incredibly poor video BUT to me its looks like the Headphone Jack has been Photoshopped over - there's a difference in colour and there is a circular form.

There's also the fact that there'll be one less hole on the phone ... one less way for dirt, water, foreign particles, etc, to get in.

We got rid of 50% of the antenna band lines, gave you 14% more battery life, AND remove the headphone jack without the need for wireless charging! Can't innovate my ass.

I want the iPhone to be smaller not thinner and therefore would like less bezels and same screen size.

Removing the ubiquitous 3.5mm headphone jack stinks! Hundreds of millions of people have wired headphones, earbuds, speakers, etc., so the fact that Apple would remove one of the few standards that "just work" is unconscionable. The 3.5mm headphone jack is a standard used in phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, music players, even the audio jack on a United Airlines flight. It's just garbage that Apple plans to remove this, if the rumors are true.

That is some world-class trolling. They know -- they know -- we want to see if there is a headphone jack and they keep giving us mere titillating glimpses of the bottom of the phone lol

Can someone explain why Apple wouldn't wait until an all new design to remove the headphone jack?

I think it's because it's meant to get the moaning out of the way so people aren't distracted by it next year. So people will focus on the actual redesign rather than a "missing feature".

Too much change can be a large barrier for people.

I still don't get people's obsession with the headphone jack.
A friend used to have a dog that would sit and stare at the hamster in a cage all day long. Couldn't figure that out either.

I charge and listen to music at the same time

Excellent point, adapter ... so what. No way to power phone and plug in headphones at the same time.

Removing the 3.5mm jack is a moronic move by Apple. They are so arrogant in their quest to shave off a few microns in thickness that they remove one of the most widely used standards in the industry, used by hundreds of millions of people around the world.
