Only Apple can create 2 new (iffy) colors in a year old phone design and generate this much interest. I mean I was disappointed in the S4 but at least they increaed the screen size while keep the phone a similar size.

I'm very impressed with my S4, coming from an i5. But give us an iPhone with a 5 inch screen and I'll come back. I've invested more in iOS to date (still have an iPad to make use of the purchases), and while Android has improved greatly and I have no problems with it, nor the current app catalogue, I do still like iOS that little bit more. iOS7 looks very good too, would be fantastic on a bigger screen. My Fiancée has my i5 now and when I pick it up it feels uncomfortable and small. I call it a toy now. Still a good piece of kit though hardware wise, just needs to grow a liitle.

I think slate might not be offered anymore. It seems like apple is pushing lighter colors like in iOS 7 and iPhone 5C. Maybe it's champagne, graphite and white?

You guys are asleep at the switch. It took 9 whole posts for the first un-clever unintelligent unfunny unoriginal stone cold stupid "double down" post.

I voted it up. Tim's stern words keep coming back to me as the new iPhones are laid out for the world to see. At this point I wouldn't be surprised to see people walking around using the new phones or selling them on Craigslist.

We'll see how gracefully he handles it. "Stop me if you've seen this" is a tough act to follow.

Graphite looks nice. Better than slate, IMO.

Still sticking with a green iPhone 5C for my next-- IF it has a black front.

I agree, the graphite is very attractive. It may not show scratches as readily as my black iPhone 5. No matter how careful I am, the phone is susceptible to scratching. The much lighter color of the graphite may not show the scratches as easily.

Watching the video of iPad mini shell - tough to tell - is the apple symbol more of the chrome kind of look like the full size iPad? Looks darker than the current minis/iPhone 5's.

BARF. No black no sale.
Was hoping to upgrade from my 3GS but since there is no black I will stick it out another year as my 3GS still does everything I need it to do.

Out of stock soon after launch?

This is a little off the main topic but I wonder what everyone thinks about whether there will be adequate supply of the new 5S soon after they're released. I have an iPhone 4 (had it for 3 years now) so can anyone tell me what happened when iPhone 5 was released? Did they run out (or extend the ship date out so that they could make more)? How about at the phone stores? I think I have to buy from AT&T if I have any hope of keeping my unlimited data plan from AT&T that's been grandfathered in.

Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Good for you. You should purchase what you want and not be forced based upon limited selection. There is nothing wrong with old technology.

That's funny, one of my friends recently made the jump to an HTC One and as soon as she grabbed my phone she sighed and said how much she missed a phone she could actually hold and type comfortably with.

I can say in regard to the 4S despite some panicking around the midnight sales, if I remember correctly you could still preorder it in the morning (At least the Sprint version).

:rolleyes:who cares? Its not like its a movie or music. The days of being surprised is over.Every phone leaks.

Honestly the number of people in the supply chain to even create the quantities needed to avoid unreasonable shortages, I'd be more worried if nothing was getting out.

It will attract more customers.
Why so? Would there be that many people that desperately want an iPhone, but their tint of grey isn't available so they pass... I seriously doubt that. It's not like these colors are radical or anything. If it would be bright red or so I could believe some people might be "that's cool", but for these subtle colors.

I could of course be mistaken, I'd just like some explanation as to why you think this will generate more new customers.

I think there was a meme going around during the iPhone 4S where someone argued "HOW WILL PEOPLE KNOW I GOT THE NEW PHONE?" So that may affect some of the more vain customers who want to show off how they have a fingerprint sensor.

I think enough videos and pictures of the new iphone casings have been posted now....
As exciting as they are- PLEASE, no more.

Eh. I actually think slate looks better than graphite, but I will probably pick up the graphite model if it doesn't wear as easily--and also to have a visual cue that says I'm using a 5S so people can stop asking which phone I have.

Choice. Champagne has attracted about 5 people in my circle to upgrade early or switch from Samsung. For such a low cost in manufacturing a new color, the benefits out weigh the costs.

When the white iPhone came out that attracted more customers.

I must the be the only person who keeps seeing these and thinks - anodizing samples.

The don't even have the Designed by Apple etc which is on all devices including the Test/Dev devices.

Anodizing - particularly 'hard' anodizing is tricky to get consistent colors, that "Graphite" one just looks like an off colour "black".
